Alwyndor Aged Care reviews
6Outstanding! I can’t speak more highly of our experience with this facility. It has been first class in every way. The gardens are stunning and are a great place to spend time with family and friends. The staff treat the residents beautifully - nothing is too hard.
My mother moved into Alwyndor a bit over 12 months ago. She is 'with it' and she reports great care and after settling in, she is very happy living there. They went out of their way to accomodate her needs, even found her a carpark and have given her a lovely spacious room even though she is a full pensioner. She says the food could be improved but she is a very good cook herself and no-one cooks like she does! LOL. Whenever something goes wrong with Mum, which is rare, I get a call and we get regular emails from the General Manager so we know whats going on and why. I have found them helpful, flexible and responsive and I'm very happy with the care Mum gets. The poor reviews here appear to be from disgruntled former staff and as an HR Manager I think its good that they are clearly fussy with who they employ. I think their approach during the COVID-19 pandemic has been pretty flawless in very difficult times. Highly recommend.
My nan has been at Alwyndor for several months, initially she was quite mobile and well. As her dementia has progressed she is now bed bound and palliative. She is not being cared for well enough. As an example, due to speech path review she ceased oral anything including pain relief as a result of poor swallowing. Which is understandable, but has not been given any pain relief since, despite injectable pain relief being authorized by her doctor. She tells us and we can see that she is in significant pain and we believe that she is not being treated with a decent level of care including washing. She has paid a lot of money to be there! Some staff are great, some seem to not care about patients well being.
In my years of experience, I have witnessed almost nothing but kind and down-to-earth staff who have a genuine passion for looking after our older community. Alwyndor is inclusive, supportive and go the extra mile to provide quality care to clients, residents, staff and anyone in between! The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. I'm not being paid to say any of this. I wholeheartedly believe Alwyndor is a great place to be, my experience has been nothing but positive and most people there seem generally happy!
Would’ve been better without the current HR department and acting managers, better weeding out the old staff who cause the problems and not lie about patient care to suit their routine. Poor organisational skills, recruiting every month and having many resigning due to organisations lack of professionalism. Older staff members the worst to work with going tops to the office
