Our group of 8, FINALLY after 2 COVID years, recently enjoyed the delights of S. A and 7 nights at Altamira. Dawn 's communication and instructions with me over the last 2 years has been very easy, prompt and professional. BUT the best part of the holiday was the house! From the level of comfort, attention to detail (the marshmallows went in the first 2 days!), mood lighting, breakfast supplies, chopped wood for the fire, basket of blankets, comfy beds and beautiful ensuite bathrooms, we could not have asked for more. To be honest if we didn't do any sightseeing we would have been more than happy to sit and take in the surroundings. The view from the property is beautiful and the bird life abundant. To sit outside with a coffee and take it all in, was very relaxing. If I could give Altamira 120 % I would. Thank you Dawn for making your beautiful house available for us and making our stay one to remember. Janet

We were very excited to stay at Dawn's wonderful Altamira retreat for a surprise 30th birthday. We had to reschedule multiple times because of COVID, and then unfortunately had to cancel in the end without ever getting to stay at Altamira. However, Dawn was absolutely magnificent during this time. She was so helpful and prompt with her responses every time we had to reschedule, and processed a refund immediately for us when we ended up having to cancel. We're very sad we never got to stay at Altamira, however wanted to write this review to give 5 stars to Dawn's excellent, prompt and helpful service throughout the whole process! Thanks Dawn!:) :)

Incredible property, A+ location, with as much or as little as you desire on offer. My family and I spent a week enjoying the comforts the home has to offer, whilst being conveniently located within arms reach or what felt like 100s of cellar doors and eateries. A short commute to the pristine beaches was a bonus, as was the spectacular vista over the vines on our return. An enormous living area cascades from the four well appointed homely bedrooms, all their own ensuite.

Dawn's communication and understanding during the 18 or so months it took for us to finally enjoy this property, due to covid, was first class.

Clean, private, and a super relaxed vibe - I cannot recommend this property more highly and will be re-booking without any hesitation.

We had the most amazing stay at Altamira Retreat. The premises are absolutely stunning and the hosts very acommodating. Ideal spot for multiple couples or families, as every room has it's own ensuite. It's perfectly cosy, and spacious at the same time. Overall Wonderful Stay:)

I was fortunate enough to spend some time at Altamira over the Summer and what can I say, AMAZING! A beautiful property overlooking the vineyards and close proximity to some of my favourite wineries in the McLaren Vale region.

The perfect getaway location! We stayed here for the weekend and couldn’t believe the beautiful place we had found. A stunning home with ample space, lusciously decorated with all the amenities you could possibly want; topped off by the stunning sunrise and crisp air looking over the vineyard and backyard. Truly a homely yet luxurious experience!

An amazing place to stay, especially for a larger group of people! Incredible views and secluded enough to truly enjoy the serenity. The house itself is amazing as well, with each room better than the last. I don’t think I could have dreamt up a more perfect place to get away for a few days! A slice of McLaren Vale heaven! Had the most delightful time at Altamira - am feeling relaxed and recharged after my stay (despite enjoying a few too many wines at the beautiful wineries nearby). Can't wait for my next stay!

This is the most relaxing, comfortable and indulgent retreat. It is perfectly located near the national park, where there are lots of beautiful walking trails, and incredible wineries. We spent the week eating and drinking the best the region had to offer, and unwinding by the fire amongst nature.

First time in South Australia and man was it amazing! A group of friends and I stayed at Altamira Retreat for a long weekend and were wined and dined by the surrounding area. We would have relaxing mornings enjoying a cup of tea looking out over the vineyards, explore wineries and markets during the day and return to Altamira for board games at night. It is the best place for a getaway, you really feel like you're far from home whilst having all of life's luxuries at your finger tips. The retreat is beautifully decorated and we got excellent tips from the hosts. Thank you for making our weekend away so blissful. I still dream about the amazing beds!

Surreal location over looking a lovely pocket of the McLaren Vale! Perfect spot for exploring wineries and the welcome basket was a great touch. Thank you Dawn for the list of great recommendations and generosity. We can't wait to book another stay soon!

We had such a great stay at Altamira. We arrived on the Thursday night and never wanted to leave! The house is so comfortable has has lots games to keep everyone entertained (lots of hours of Finska). We spent 2 of the days wine tasting throughout the McLaren Vale, and then spent our last day making the most of the retreat, and the surroundings. Thank you so much for having us - we cannot wait to come back.
