Afghan Cuisine and Charcoal Kabab House reviews
62Reasonably priced, and their portions are really filling. I recommend their bbq chicken and any of their lamb mince options. For those who dare, I also recommend their yoghurt drink. Even the owner/the person who served us said it was an acquired taste, and I was suprised by his frankness that he didn't push for us to order it. But since I like trying something new, the drink was a good palate cleanser in my opinion.
I've been here twice, both times ordered the 3 skewer kebab. The Lamb and the Chicken are good. The Mince skewer is undercooked and too spicy. They put a lot of chilli in the Mince meat. The rest is 4 stars.
What great taste! Simply amazing and a great miss if you don't try this outlet!
Charcoal Chicken Skewers are simply delicious both with Naan or Kabuki Rice. Must try!
My go to place. Consistent food and service. Everything is worth a try. Default order will be Biryani, kebabs and Bolani and roti bread. Nice and fresh
One of the best Afghanistan eateries I have enjoyed locally.
Highly recommended. The meat is cooked to perfection and rices, salads are ample.
Food is amazing, staff are lovely, prices are reasonable and beautiful range.
We’ve been here a few times recently and we will keep coming back. The authentic food is consistently good, the service is efficient and friendly, and the vibe is welcoming.
Found this place recently and totally addicted to their food! It's fresh, tasty and great value. The chicken and lamb kebabs are tender and cooked to perfection. The serve of rice of big and super tasty.
Tasty food, at reasonable prices. Lack of staff can affect some menu items. Best to ph first for preferences
Not happy from the food and lamb meat was rotten and the taste is very bad and because off rotten meat I got vomiting and I will contact to food safety department
I really like the casual atmosphere in this place. Naturally there will be those that can and will find fault at places like these but when you consider you can buy am utterly tasty wrap for dinner for as little as $7 what is there complaining about? !
The food is delicious. I'll admit, to date, I've never had one of the curries so I won't remark on them. Though my friends have said they're very authentic. Pretty much everything else on the menu such as the half chicken is so delicately spiced then cooked over open coals. The taste is exceptional. And the wraps whether be lamb mince, lamb back strap or chicken are all spiced differently and still very subtle in their flavour. The meat is also cooked over open coals and so you enjoy the same smokiness as the half chicken.
The staff are very kind and friendly and generous in spirit. Here you can get an imperial pint of green tea with just a hint of cardamom for a dollar! Yes, just a dollar. What else and where else can you buy anything for a dollar and it tastes good too?
This place is a cheap and cheerful diner and with that I'm sure you'll become a regular as I have.
Now this is the place that has the most tender and juiciest, tasty charcoal kebabs.
The owner made us very welcome. We will be back as regulars.
THE HIDDEN TREASURE:
Walking past Prospect Road, digging out what is there to try. Walk past this place called Afghan Cuisine & Charcoal Kebab House. The appearance of the Eatery is not appealing at all. It seems dull and not pleasant to dine. The only thing that caught my eyes was the Charcoal smell. Looked at the name, it says “Charcoal”. Look around at the other side, The other house was quite full but yet, I had tried the other place already. I was then took the chance to walk in and try.
It is a Cafe style of counter ordering. The smell of the flaming charcoal odour got me to continue on. By reading the menu, the price range was very reasonable. Average price range is around $18/serve. It is a family restaurant with the traditional costumes by the host herself.
Ordered 2 dishes, one Curry lamb with bread and a combo of 3 skewers and rice and a side drink for $19. Definitely value for money. It didn’t take long for the dishes to come. Amazing taste of sensation, bursting in my mouth. The well seasoning of the meat and the intensity of the spices in the marination, all I can say is, I am in heaven. The side of the mint yoghurt and the Spicy chilli tomato salsa dipping sauce is so complex, I literally could not stop eating. The Lamb Curry is definitely needed to be mentioned about. The use of spices in it is so good that I ate it with proud feeling. I was really amazed how the food was come together. The tender meat from the Curry, and the favour was extremely well done.
For the average price dinner within $20, I believe it is definitely worth for anyone want to try it out. I would surely go and dine again. Rating of 4 local stars is not really my want. If the decor is better than now, I would rate for more. Possibly with a International stars for it plus a well renown as well.
The decor is a bit dark and dull with a bad feeling of not very clean environment. However, it is cleaned. It is just the colour is not a good choice with a bad frontage set-up. It has a good potential future but need to work on the look first. Remember this, just look at our human face structure, coming down from our head, our eyes are next then our nose and then our mouth. It simply telling us that appearance is always come first by using our eyes. Then our nose to smell second and then our mouth to taste it. This is Mother Nature’s gift to us. Hope to see the place changes.
I ordered chicken biryani and it was delicious. The quality and quantity both are great. They also provide salad, Raytu. I love it. Thanks
We just ate here by accident because our go-to nearby was booked out and our entire table of 6 agreed that it was the most pleasant mistake we’ve made! Every single thing we ordered was tasty and fresh. Great quality curries and mantu dumplings and tasty skewers with perfect accompaniments.
Easily the BEST in the area, the bolani is second to none. Excellent value and everything is cooked to order over charcoal making it pretty quick and tastes the best. I'm there at least 3 times a month.
Very average food. Poor customer service. Have to wait a lot for the food. Small plates. Not even tissues after food.
1st and last visit. Charged extra don't know why
Tried this place cos our usual was fully booked - I think this will be our new usual! Tender, tasty meat, lovely rice, fresh bread. Very well priced too.
This restaurant is amazing, such good food and staff are always very helpful. One of best restaurants in A Adelaide.
I ate BBQ chicken but chicken is too small I paid 13 dollars but it's not worth.rice is also small.even chicken not cooked.even staff r too rude.never back again.worst experience
This place is a local institution, you can’t miss it there is a camel sign attached to the building and plenty of parking on Kintore Road alongside. The food highlights include pretty much everything that’s cooked on the charcoal bbq’s, the tender lamb is a particular favourite and the breads so fresh and tasty. We always have the eggplant dish and plenty of meat. There’s loads to choose from on the menu and it’s a great place to go for a large group feast, there is always a birthday party in there and it’s generally very full of a wide variety of society including lots of friendly local afghanis. It won’t cost you more than $25 a head including soft drinks and you’ll be stuffed to the brim, give it a go you will become regulars like us and all our friends and family in the area. Enjoy!
