The Lucky Squire reviews
40 We are on holiday from Perth. Walked into this place and it’s amazing. The food was awesome, service quick and very delicious.
We had the loaded parmi and the ribs and both were awesome. Best parmi I have had in I don’t know when. Everything was 10/10. Thank you for a great meal
Prices were reasonable too.
Very disappointed! Entrees came out with main course. Steak was as tough as an old boot. Once meals were put on our table, service was non existent. Didn’t bother with more drinks or dessert
The place relies on its name but was a big let down.
Place empty on Gold Coast Saturday night! Good
Well done!
Make photos of people coming in after 10, invade their privacy you idiots!
Place empty!
Good
Unfortunately very mediocre. It was busy, so we were told the wait for food would be an hour and that was understandable, the bar man decided to serve a customer who barged his way to the front of the line despite people saying he wasn’t next, the food came and it was cold and fish batter wasn’t cooked properly. I did raise the issue about the food to the server but was told it was ‘because it was busy. ’ A big organisation like this shouldn’t let standards drop because it was busy.
Had a lovely mid week catch up with friends for dinner. The service was very speedy and the meals were large and delicious. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Very happy. Definitely returning.
S&itte$t beer in the world, flat disgusting beer.
I have no clue how this business is still going, unless you numb your tastebuds it’s the worst.
Amazing service food exceptionally good and of very high standard, all staff very friendly with cheery attitudes and eager to assist, with all dietary requirements. The Chef is amazing and the Manager exceptional. Also very dog friendly. Well worth the visit, thoroughly recommend. Our go to every week. Thanks guys. Went to the Charming Squire recently in Brisbane definitely not up to the same standard in regards to food quality and customer service.
The staff were so great, we brought our dog and he was served first, of course, with a large bowl of water and a treat. It was great to see the staff have a chat with customers. Very welcoming and very dog friendly.
We went to the Lucky Squire early on a Saturday evening before seeing a show at HOTA. We booked a table for 4 thinking it might be busy, it wasn’t, despite being late due to traffic. We were shown to our reserved table which was about the least pleasant table in the room. Because most of the other tables were free, we asked for another table and it was better. Everyone agreed that the food was good and prepared quickly after ordering. We found the drinks to be pretty expensive and I was disappointed with my drink on arrival being full of ice (on a cold night). There was a lady singing which was nice but generally the atmosphere was pretty quiet. It was OK but I don't think we will be rushing back anytime soon.
Mantle Group has fired all of its casual employees and rehired them under a new agreement that creates a default position where they do not need to pay them penalty rates on Australia Day.
Disappointed. The Squire was busy and i understood while ordering through the app it did advised a wait time of 15mins, and i also was advised by staff to not wait in line at the bar as it would be faster via the app. I ordered two beers.two beers! 20mins later I had to returned to the bar to find my drinks only starting to be poured.if you want fast service head down to loose moose!
My advice is be realistic about your time frame, people are less eagar to complain if you are upfront about wait times.
The company that owns this place has illegally fired all casuals and rehired them with a clause in their contracts that they are not to receive penalty rates for working a public holiday just before Australia Day. They’ve also snuck a confidentiality clause in so the employees legally aren’t allowed to talk about having their public holiday rates removed. Absolutely disgusting practices should not be supported, avoid this establishment at all costs, as well as these other venues in Brisbane owned by the same company:
Jimmy's on the Mall
The Charming Squire
The Sound Garden
The Summit
Tai Tai
Milano
Phuc Deli-Viet
Babylon Brisbane
Pig N' Whistle x5
Really disappointed in the quality of the food we were served last night. The bread that the hotdog was served in was so stale it was like a biscuit. And the steak was cold and over cooked to the point it was tough. The pepper sauce which came with it was tasteless and watery. On a plus people who were with us enjoyed their pizza.
No atmosphere, wine on tap made me very sick. 10% surcharge just on Sundays! No wonder the place is always empty.
Nice place to have some drinks. We went here for a family birthday celebration They were also really accommodating to us, and kept our own birthday cake in the kitchen and brought it out at the end for us.
Rude staff, when you question the price charged, manager is rude, and if you question their shiftyness they try to remove you and your party under the guise of R. S. A, which they dont even administer that properly no warning, no water! Don't ever take people there, bunch of clown run it
Food was great. Beware going to the bathroom. Need to rake ID and they take your photo before entering the venue again
What is going on?
Service was absolutely atrocious!
Meals we’re ok but not cheap - a steak for $50 was cooked ok but the schnitzel $32 was terribly burnt and so dry I couldn’t finish it & the chips were dry and tasteless.
Understand a venue that size having the QR ordering system but not actually being serviced by any staff that came to the table was unsatisfactory considering how quiet it was. Staff simply came and dumped the wine we ordered without so much as a hello. Meals were delivered by the same style. We thought we’d ordered another bottle of wine with a waitress only to be told by another staff member about 5 mins later that it was the last drinks call and when we said we’d just ordered with his colleague he simply said - she’s not coming back. ️
I can’t recommend it. Disappointed is an understatement!
Extremely expensive for the food type and venue style. Also only does QR scanning for ordering which is ridiculous for the price. No service. If you can deal with those two things the food is actually good, but overpriced and lack of service was a no return for me.
The place was quiet on the evening I visited. We ordered from the table via QR code and came across 60 minute wait times for each menu item we selected. It almost stopped us from ordering the food, contemplating going somewhere else. We even asked a waitress and they didn't know if it was an accurate time or not.
We chose to order food and the wait time was no more than 15 minutes. We were surprised to receive our food so fast, yet be warned it was going to take much longer. They need to get this right as many people will finish their drinks and go elsewhere to eat.
We were pleasantly surprised by the food as it was pretty good. The place was nice and it was a good experience.
