Alex and the HiFi shop have been fantastic! Firstly with helping me carefully work out what speakers best suited my taste and my existing equipment, they have an enormous range too! They have also provided great after sales service and assistance with helping me determine correct speaker placement and room conditions. Great work

Honest, down to earth advice and service with good prices and support. What more could you want. No need for pushy salesmanship when you have excellent knowledge and top shelf products. Also look out for his second hand bargains.

I've had two products from the HiFi Shop and am happy with both. The first was the Ruark R1 which I use everyday mainly for the radio. The sound is both rich, full and surprising from a small speaker. The unit connected to the internet means you never have to adjust the time should the power go off.
I've recently purchased a Denon soundbar for my TV mainly for clarity of speech. Again it has exceeded my expectation with a greater depth sound at all frequencies. I sometimes stream music from it for background when I don't fire up my valve amp and ribbon speakers.
The common denomintor in both purchases was that Alex listened to my requirements and able to provide good offerings.

Alex has a great range of hifi and extra equipment in his shop. He also has a great knowledge and experience of how they all fit together, too. Highly recommended!

Alex recently repaired my 1996 Marantz CD63 CD player after it had been unserviceable for around 12 years. When the obvious fix only partially solved the issue, he could easily have just sold me a lower level replacement but went further to re-focus the laser and carry out some additional repairs on the motherboard. Very happy with the outcome.

The short;- The Hifi Shop provides a quality range of gear with excellent and knowledgeable service delivered by Alex in a perfectly casual way… I would recommend Alex and The Hifi Shop for any of your hifi needs, from a minor repair/warranty service to high end audiophile and everything in between.

The long;- As a burgeoning vinyl enthusiast I took my Rega P2 in to Alex after finding out he was my local Rega repair agent. After setting foot inside The Hifi Shop with a glimpse of all that cool hifi gear a sense of excitement washed over me (but I contained) while Alex quickly explained to me how the Rega turntables are designed and what and where a fault could exist, even though this was highly unusual, but nevertheless a lifetime warranty applied such that if a fault was confirmed with the tonearm then this would be replaced with new. My interest was piqued as Alex showed me that a replacement tonearm was now a new model with adjustable antiskate (I had only just learned what this was…) and so now I had a sudden sense this could bring an opportunity for an upgrade. Only after expressing some interest in this sense did Alex further explain the next step in the Rega range along with an option to trade-in my P2, an option I had no idea would have existed. I left Alex with the P2 to repair while I considered the very attractive option he had offered to upgrade to a P3.
Returning in a couple of days (after umpteen google and youtube reviews) having pretty much made the decision to upgrade to the P3, Alex gently advised there was in fact no fault with my P2 as the wires on the back of the cartridge had been connected incorrectly. I think Alex knew, that I knew, that he knew… that was the result of my moronic work some months earlier when I had been faffing about swapping a 2M Red cartridge on and off in my attempt to tweak and then fault-find.
Regardless, Alex was happy to maintain his generous trade-in offer and I was keen to embark on my first upgrade, so he even fitted my 2M Red cartridge and I left with a fully setup Rega P3; …but not before taking up a few more minutes of his time talking through my existing hifi system and gaining some understanding of his product range and hifi hierarchy.
No audiophile snobbery, no overselling, no discrediting – hence the “casual” descriptor above – just clear explanation and facts leaving me armed and dangerous.
So needless to say the upgrade bug starts to niggle away and I invite Alex to provide me his thoughts on a couple of logical system upgrade options that would suit me, which he does within a day.
Now I don’t know if I am a bit of a cynic or just like to overthink things, but I embarked on a mission watching and reading countless google and youtube reviews, the results of which not only do not fault any of Alex’s recommendations but further seem to demonstrate to me just how understated but spot on his advice was with the recommended components destined to deliver a top notch system with absolute synergy.
As a result, and within only about 4 weeks after meeting for a ‘faulty’ P2, I could not be happier now enjoying a Rega P6 matched with Exposure 2510 integrated amp and Wharfedale Linton speakers (plus serious looking speaker cables I did not even know were a thing)!
Highly Recommended.

If you’re looking for a HiFi store with quality gear and someone who knows their stuff, go and see Alex at The HiFin Shop!

Having just bought a new home with a space dedicated for enjoying all things music, I went in search for a quality 2 channel system to suit our space. I spent many hours in Alex’s sound room, mixing and matching equipment and speakers with his helpful advise and knowledge. Alex was always more than helpful and was never pushy. After many visits, I chose an Exposure Amp, Cambridge Audio Streamer, Cambridge Audio CD Player, a Rega P2 turntable (since upgraded to a P8 - thanks Alex), a pair of beautiful Sonus Faber bookshelf speakers coupled with an REL Subwoofer. What a fantastic combination - the sound is superb and we couldn’t be happier.

Needless to say, when our ageing theatre amp gave up, Alex was my first and only call. Alex’s suggestion, taking into account our room size and surround speakers & setup, was a Marantz theatre amp. We are enjoying a very immersive sound with the Marantz. Thanks again to Alex at the HiFi Shop.

Alex helped me out with some sound:) advice and I left with some great speakers. Couldn’t be happier. I found him knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
The auditioning/listening room built in the shop is pretty special. Great acoustics and some nice gear to sample. Well worth a visit.
