Absolutely delishious food and amazing staff
Great place to have a few cold drinks and catch up with friends and family.

Called in after work on a Friday evening and so glad we did had a nice surprise to hear a fantastic band VENUS ENVY playing really enjoyed them thank you Gem Hotel and band members your awesome

Been pretty disappointed with the food here lately. Used to be a great pub to come to with great deals but not now. It feels very expensive and the food is pretty average at best unless you want a steak

Was going to be the new local for me and a few colleagues, but after going 3 or 4 times realised it was not for us, very stinky with all the smoke blowing through the door constantly, 30 degree days but air con was turned off because the little dork barman with glasses said its to cold for him twice this week! We just wanted some where to cool off after a hot days work but unfortunately its not this place! Every single pub in qld besides this one on hot days has the air con on!

I went out for brekkie with my family this morning and when our food came out we went to eat it and all of it was cold some of the food that was supposed to be with my breakfast wasn’t on it and we had hash brows that tasted like they where just dipped in a plate of salt.i would not recommend anyone go to the gem for breakfast because of this and the overpriced food.

We have been members of the Gem hotel for 5+ years but haven’t been for awhile. Wanted a nice steak meal, not a good steak selection now and very pricey. When the meal arrived the ‘tender’ filet mignon (as written on the menu) was tough and very small for the price they charged, also questionable on whether it was the correct cut of meat?
(What they didn’t realise was the gentleman I was dining with was an ex chef, so he would know)
Very disappointing as they used to be value for money as well as great meals. If they are going to charge top prices, the meals need to match - not top price for a sub standard meal.
Unfortunately we won’t be back.
There needs to be a big improvement for the Gem restaurant to be at the same standard that it used to be.

Its been 20 years since we last went to the Gem (Night before weeding). And the food was amazing, the steak sandwich and Gem burger where so nice. The place looks so pleasant and relaxing. Well done Gem

If I could give more stars I would, first time there last Friday night and I gotta say I'll definitely be back. Great vibe, awesome music, friendly staff and patron's. Definitely recommended. Thanks to all at the Gem

Great old style pub with great meals and reasonable prices. Don't miss this one well worth a look.

Great country pub feel, pleasant atmosphere and beautiful meals. Booking is essential for weekends normally. I can certainly understand why. Friendly staff too.

LOVE this little Gem at Alberton. Not far off the highway from the Yatala exit just up the road from Yatala Drive-in. The atmosphere was great, particularly as it was a Sunday with live music. Squeeling Pig Sauv Blamc at a reasonable price $32 for the bottle. My group were happy with their meals in general, however, could be more generous with the toppings for the nachos and more than only one pepperoni per slice of pizza for a Pepperoni pizza was disappointing. The staff are friendly and good to see the place well staffed and not understaffed. Oh and there were a number of meat raffles which is always a bit of fun. And you can become a member too!
I definitely will be back!
BONUS: Ford classic cars were having a run and ended up there. The place ticks so many boxes!

Dropped in for a quick beer and a meal with one of my staff. Felt comfy. Obviously tradies frequest the pub but a diverse clientelle in any case. Food was great. Large meals but not too large and tasty.

Went here today for the first time after a funeral and me and my friend got lunch with everyone and the pizza was good but my spaghetti was so cold as if they took it of the fridge and put it on the plate can say I won’t be coming here again especially for the price

We have been there many a time and have had nice food and service. But last night the bar staff seemed pre occupied with others and my wife ordered seafood supreme small piece of fish 2 prawns 2 mussels lots of taste less sauce half cooked chips salad for $34 dollars was pretty bad maybe time to try other places

Food was OK but was ignored TWICE by bar staff while they served others that walked up. I was neither drinking alcohol nor rude. Poor service.

First time going to this country pub for lunch with a friend. Had steak, salad and chips for $18.00. Steak was cooked to perfection. Friendly and helpful staff.

Something not to be judged by the cover, really nice inside. Had a peek, didnt get to order or enjoy the service. May be next time

Fab place to eat, its always clean and the food here is 10/10. I was a bit disappointed they changed their menu but i understand that they need to cover their costs. Happy to pay that little bit extra and get a really decent pub feed. Also the membership program gets you discounts which is awesome. Best pub in the area.
