The atmosphere Lucas & Gabi have created at Temple is second to none. Ive played sports my whole life but i've never felt like part of a team like I do at Temple. From the moment I walked through the doors i have felt nothing but welcomed. Whenever i have needed help with anything Lucas has gone above and beyond to assist; frequently going out of his way to do so. Can't recommend Temple enough!

This is hands down the best Jiu Jitsu gym on the Coast.

It took me almost 2 years to finally build up the confidence to try Jiu Jitsu, Lucas was so welcoming and made me feel like a part of the team right from the start, its been just over a year now and I have loved it ever since.

There is a massive focus on learning the fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu to ensure you don't rush into rolling and can prevent injuries.

Every person I have trained with at Temple have shown nothing but respect and the higher belts are always happy to help which creates a positive and welcoming environment for people of all levels.

Would 100% recommend Temple Jiu Jitsu to anyone looking to start themselves or looking to put their kids into Martial Arts.

Been training with Temple for a few months, they are very welcoming for new comers. The team and particularly Lucas take the time to build a good foundation in the sport setting you up to compete or just to enjoy the BJJ life-style. The culture is fantastic, friendly and enthusiastic people seem to be drawn to this place and it's great place to roll.

Lucas is such a great coach, understanding and caring. Such a good family vibe to grow with. I recommend anyone wanting to learn a new skill, gain strength and fitness to go down and train there!

I am new to the sunny coast! I wanted to join a club that’s passion is jiu jitsu. I went to all the clubs in my area for a look & roll to see what value’s each club had. I felt the other two I went two where more franchise’s (nothing wrong with that if that’s your thing). After going to temple & meeting Lucas his wife & seeing there baby boy walking/running/falling on the mats all while laughing & smiling the hole time. It was like being at home.
Everyone interacted like family!

I signed up that afternoon.

I couldn’t speak more highly for Lucas & his passion for the art of jiu jitsu. So humble, but such a savage!

Thanks temple crew

Great gym with an awesome culture. I have learnt so much from Lucas in such a short amount of time and shaved off a few extra unwanted kgs. Training at temple has grounded me enabling me to be calmer and breathe and think.everybody gets around each other and helps where they can feels like a family. Great with all experience levels and body types.
A holistic approach to health both in and outside the gym and of course learning the best Brazilian jiu-jitsu techniques.
I shopped around a bit but temple is the Gym I settled at because it was by far the best with culture standing out miles in-front of the rest. It’s an honour to train under Lucas and a pleasure to get to know him as a mentor and friend.

Get around this, the owner really knows his stuff and probably one of the nicest guys you’ll meet. Not only a great sport to learn but I’ve seen massive improvements in my mental health, physical health and overall has helped me in a list of other ways. Lucas Meleep is a friend and a coach and will teach you the right way of bjj. If anyone’s interested in improving there life both mentally physically and socially then click on the link and give this small business owner a chance. You won’t regret it.

I cannot speak highly enough of the welcoming and supportive community Lucas and Gabi have created at Temple Bjj. As a female who wanted to get involved in bjj but found other environments too intimidating to enter, I can honestly say the moment I stepped foot in Temple I knew it was different. Lucas’ instruction is clear and supportive, ensuring every person who enters his space succeeds. For any female who is considering starting bjj and looking for the right space to get involved, Temple is the place for you!

What an amazing place to learn and practice BJJ! Friendly and welcoming enviroment where a complete beginner like me can quickly feel safe to learn in a fun, supportive enviroment. The trainer, Lucas, is as knowledgeable as he is a nice guy and has managed to put together a great group of people with a passion for BJJ. I am glad I chose to join Temple Brazilian Jiu Jitsu over any other BJJ place in the area as I really value the attention to each student and the immediate supportive comradery that a smaller school can provide!

Took my 12 year old son for his first class with Lucas and Gabby, he came out literally buzzing. He absolutely loved it, he’s talked constantly about his next session and cant wait to go again. He has learnt so much in such a short amount of time, He’s definitely at the right place and I look forward to seeing just how good he can get.
The dojo is family friendly and professionally ran.

3 Things To Look For When Choosing A Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy

The 3rd one is probably the most commonly overlooked factor when deciding where to train BJJ but.

. It's probably the most important and will be the biggest determinant of you sticking with your training, getting the most out of the art and reaching your goals.

#1 Is The Instructor Qualified To Teach

Lucas is a 2nd degree black belt from famed De La Riva lineage. He's got a hoard of medals from a range of Australian competitions.

When you wrestle with him it feels like you're wrestling a 300 pound gorilla who effortlessly wraps you up against your will - After one roll there's no doubt Lucas is THE REAL DEAL.

#2 Can The Instructor Actually Teach

Being good at a sport is one thing but being able to teach and pass knowledge on is another.

After one lesson you'll have no doubt that Lucas not only loves BJJ but loves teaching and sharing his knowledge.

I honestly feel like his ultimate goal is to make all his students better than he is (and even though that seems like the point of a good teacher, you would be surprised how many have egos too big to allow this).

Techniques taught are top notch with great attention to detail.

Training sessions are smartly done with technique specific drills that allow you to actually practice and learn the techniques taught in the class - this will save wear and tear on your body and allow you to get better much faster.

You'll always get a straight answer to a question, even if the question relates to how to counter or stop something he just did to you - Lucas will gladly show you the answer. There's no ego, fear or hiding away of techniques or keeping things secret. There's enthusiastic straight answers all the time.

#3 Does The Academy Have A Good Culture

For those that are new to BJJ I'll let you in on a little secret.it's very addictive and you'll want to train all the time!

Besides home and work, the academy will probably become the place you'll spend most of your time at - your 3rd home so to speak. So, it makes sense that it should be a place that you'd actually want to hang out at with nice, friendly people.

Even if the above 2 points are taken care of, if an academy has a bad attitude or culture - it's a deal breaker. It will make it that much harder to keep training for the long term.

Just like any good organisation the culture and values are set from the top and permeate through everywhere else.

Temple has an awesome welcoming friendly vibe and this all stems from Lucas and his wife Gabi. Simply put, they are just good people!

That means other students are friendly and willing to help you out. There's no egos or attitudes here.

Lucas and Gabi are great people with a passion for helping others learn BJJ and they've done an awesome job at Temple to provide that.

You'll be happy to call this your 3rd home.

Absolultely loving training at Temple Jiu-Jitsu. It's a club that combines high-quality instruction, with a friendly vibe - making it perfect for the first timer, or seasoned Jiu-Jitsu practioner. Everyone is made to feel welcome. Head Coach Lucas' passion for Jiu Jitsu is only matched by his prowess as an instructor. From white-belt to black-belt, you'll love training here. Oss.

My two sons have recently started training with Lucas and Gabi at Temple Jiu Jitsu and they are loving it. Everyone, from white to black belt, are made to feel welcome.

Lucas has years of experience both in competing and as coach. Watching him roll with the boys, guiding them and correcting their technique as they roll is invaluable experience. They are learning so much. They higher, more experienced, coloured belts are happy to help and guide the less experienced students as well.

A friendly small dojo with a wonderful, inclusive family feel.
