I’m only reviewing the Virginia store. After receiving a makita coffee machine as a present, I quickly worked out it was no good, as it leaked water everywhere and drained a full battery to make a poor excuse for a coffee. After returning it for warranty, I found the the replacement machine was exactly the same and basically unusable. When the second machine returned from warranty I was told there was nothing wrong with it and to just take it. When I continued to complain, I was told by the store manager
“ I don’t care, take it up with Makita and get out of my store”.
I will never shop at this store ever again and will advise everyone I know to avoid the place. Past shopping experiences at this store has shown me that most of the staff are clueless about any practical knowledge of tools anyway.
One star Dale (store manager).

Bought a mower Oct '23 and it stopped working after less than 2 months - maybe 5 mows of your average yard, took it back and was told it would have to be sent back to the manufacturer, that they wouldn't even look at it themselves.

They won't engage with me at all anymore so I'm having to go through QCAT to get a refund on something thats only worth $500, steer clear at all costs and just go see Total Tools or Trade Tools.

Walked into Sydney Tools Virginia today to buy a chain saw chain staff were to busy going to lunch and talking behind the counter showed zero interest in helping me out
So I walked out and got great customer service at Trade tools
Really poor customer service
I own a mid size building company just around the corner
Don’t think I’ll be going back to Sydney tools

If you give them your phone number good luck getting off their unsolicited text advertising list. I spent 30 mins on the phone today getting my number removed only to receive yet another text ad this afternoon. Their unsub link on their texts is broken and takes you to the main page of their website.

Extremely rude staff. I was abruptly told I wasn't allowed to have a handbag in this shop and asked to leave my handbag unattended in my car or leave it with their staff. How do I know the staff aren't going to steal and where I was told to leave it was near the front door. Disgusting.

Bought a Makita sander from Sydney Tools Virginia which worked for two hours then died. I took it back straight away and they replaced it with the same model of sander which only lasted 15 minutes. I took it back straight away and they kept me waiting for 40 minutes while they contacted Makita. I had to leave to get back to work.
I had to phone them the next day, when I was told that they wouldn't replace it or refund the unit. It had to go to Makita to make sure I was using it properly (it has two switches!).
I've been wiating a week and haven't heard a thing.

Upon walking into this store with my wife, we were approached by a sales member who was talking loud enough for the store front to hear to tell us that my wife wasn’t allowed to bring her handbag into store as it’s bigger than A4 piece of paper. I quizzed him on this and he said it was store policy, upon reading the policy, it states that if you are to take a bag into the store bigger than A4, you agree to have it searched upon request.

He spoke to us in such a condescending manner that it caused my wife a great deal of embarrassment in front of at least 10 people. My wife is Greek and has a slight tan to her skin, so I’m not sure if this is what motivated the comment or what caused it, but when walking into another store, nothing was said. Very poor service and attitude.

Called the store to speak to the manager and I think I got the same guy who was very dismissing and rude, saying there was no issue. I raised it further to sydney tools HQ and never heard back.

I’ve been in my trade for 15 years now and never had this sort of treatment ever. Avoid this store and go anywhere else.

Needed some drill bit extension and bunnings never seemed to have what I needed in stock. Popped next door, Sydney Tools had exactly what I needed, Patrick the person I delt with instore was super helpful and could direct me to exactly what I was looking for.

Prices were good, even cheaper to what Bunnings had on their website but never had in stock.

Superb range and super friendly and helpful.

Good parking & had what I wanted in stock. I hate paying sticker price and asked what kind of discount I might get. Staff happily come back and provided a decent discount on a 4 figure purchase.

Definitely be heading back there.

So I spent over $2,000 on a full set of new Makita battery tools, and within six weeks the motor in the battery hammer drill had been replaced, after burning out drilling an M10 hole 35mm deep, a $350 refunded on a faulty laser they couldn’t be repaired, the drill driver has now done a motherboard after 10 hours of use and the impact driver is having trigger issues ‍️, all before the warranty period has even expired, then the manager explains that Makita has stopped many quality assurance checks to ensure the manufacturer can get tools out on time during covid, then suggests I buy a spare set of drills to use while all my drills are being assessed and repaired for six to eight weeks by Makita. I think I’ll decline buying a second set of tools to use while all the faulty ones are repaired, what a joke. Makita should be ashamed of the product it’s producing and to think they advise people to just buy multiple sets of tools so that they always have a set to use while others are being repaired, the ACC would have a field day with this. Guys, not sure what the other manufacturers are putting out but Makita tools aren’t making it to twelve months, or ever two months in many cases.

Walked in and was immediately greeted by Pat, I was sort of confident I knew what I wanted but he still took the time to discuss options with me. Overall a very positive experience, ill be coming back to see Pat in the future

The best tool shop I’ve been to in years. I shop for my company and personally and always receive the best service and prices from Jackson. He’s the man to see. As long as he’s there i’ll shop there. He’ll go so far put of his way to help. Thanks mate

Total tools is full of tools, Sydney tools has mad blokes like Jackson and Alex, they look after you like newborn baby if you treat em right, I have never felt so welcome in a store before. He's perfect replacement for Tom who had been servicing me for for over 4 years.

If you find Jackson, you're in good hands.
