The lead coach Diego has been my coach for group and private classes for 18 months. Not only does he have proven high level skills (as a national and international gold medallist), but he has real skill in teaching BJJ. He can break down complex manoeuvres into specific anatomical steps that are easy to understand. He is always able to keep the mood of the gym warm and fun while still providing a tough competitive training environment.

I started bjj with zero experience and at a later stage. Diego is the most inspiring coach and he is very patient and supportive. Everyone @southsidesouthport is very friendly and approachable. If you are fitness, this is fitness too but bonus is that you learn life lessons too. Southside Southport is definitely the most personalised and supportive environment you will experience.

Great atmosphere, Sergio and Diego are the two best coaches, they provide an environment like no other. Highly recommended

Diego is a great coach for GI and NOGI. He's always been willing to answer my repeated questions (how to stop the NOGI body lock pass lol). Diego is also an active BJJ competitor. Sergio has been coaching kids for years.

Diego uses several modern training methods that accelerate your learning, such as warm up with specific BJJ exercices and positional training. It seems like he is constantly updating his skills and bringing the new BJJ developments to his students.

Southside Southport is the first gym I even seen that provides open mats on Sundays at 10 am.

The gym has great facilities. There is cold water available. Plenty or air flow with fans. The shower is great!

=> Car parking
There is car park inside the gated complex, if you arrive early. However, it's easy to find a car park on the surrounding streets.

Best School in the Southport area.
Have done a 7 day trial with most gym in the area and this Bjj academy is the one for me.

Diego was a super informative coach, he even got my friend Sean’s arms to grow 10”. I highly recommend this gym to anyway wanting to further their jujitsu!

Diego has been my coach since day 1 and he's not only an incredible coach, but I would consider him one of the nicest people I know. Highly recommend training here if you're thinking of giving BJJ a go!
