Southern Districts Basketball Association reviews
21Love this place. Sheldon College won the Southern District Basketball U14 winter season tournament 2023.
We visited to sè our grandson play a game. He was on court 1, so we had the bonus of the luxury seats.
Horribly managed business. The staff would walk around adding points (approximately 15 at a time) to teams for no legitimate reason. No grading taken into account for teams so the divisions are very uneven. Worst competition I’ve played in. They need to get some hoodoos about them.
Played in the Tuesday C grade competition. Very poorly run competition for the money we pay (almost $4000 for a team over the course of the comp). This in itself is quite ridiculous despite the lack of referees and having no scorers (bench players scored during time off the court).
The venue has dusty, slippery courts which would get wet if it was raining. Never was there 2 refs, only one and they barely paid attention. With the money everyone pays these issues should be addressed.
There is a lady who must be a manager who would come around during games and add points onto teams for random reasons (wrong colour shorts or no bench). They would actually penalise a team for not having someone to do the scoring, the competition should be doing this with the amount we pay.
I highly recommend people reconsider joining this competition. Complete rip off.
Love coming here every Thursday night to play games.
Wish they hadn't increased the shootaround fees to $15 because as much as I like the people working there and the association, I can't afford to be spending that more than once a fortnight as a uni student.
Hopefully it'll be taken back to the standard $5 per person so I can continue to sing the praises of the darkside.
The referees are hopeless and look like they don't want to be their.
Looking at their phones to see what the time was so they can go home.
Very POOR,
And whenever it rains hard the roof leaks so the court will be wet.
You would think they have the money to fix that for the fees
Greats sporting complex, great basketball program. Needs renovating and more staff on but they can't help that:)
Plenty of room for players. A great upgrade in the facilities over the past 12 months, with the change rooms and administrative offices
Four basketball courts, availability to shoot almost every day on one of them. Great canteen service, amazing friendly vibe and best of all continually trying to keep up with the game. Shooting machine available also
Old, poorly maintained basketball stadium. Floors are so slippery with dust they are a risk to health and safety. Seem to hire referees that think they are competent, but clearly have no grasp of the rules or are visually impaired - and they don't care to improve the quality.
Just better than the average facility for Basketball games. The courts are bit worn out and not enough sitting space. It gets very hot inside in summer as the place is not air conditioned. The place requires you to sign on a sheet if you are planning to take photos during the game.
The best basketball environment. All the refs know everyone. Delicious canteen food.highly recommend and nice public outdoor and indoor pool
A great place to ball. My son and I both play there and it's slowly becoming a second home. Very professional and looking forward to the coming NBL1 comp.
I love to play basketball on Friday nights there it is amazing there is lots oppurtunities to shoot around and train and also play and make new friends.
Great set up. They had delicious hot food, snacks and beverages. They also serve alcohol which I found pretty sweet too
Great coaches from SD but facility really needs some serious financial investment. Money needs to be spent on capital projects such as change room toilets, water stations and general look and feel.
The referees a lot of the time weren't great.
Alan Ladewig who used to run the stadium never had it well maintained and never cared to listen to the many complaints people had.
Hopefully since his departure the stadium will be fixed but pretty doubtful.
Wow.on the face of it, great facilities! However temperatures rose to 50°+ for a basketball tournament over the weekend. This almost makes it unplayable.
The worst referees in Brisbane. My team left last season after a player was racially vilified. We made a complaint and were abused and bullied by the referee co-ordinator as a result.
There is a reason auchenflower basketball is so successful and this place can barely keep the lights on.
No where to sit and not all the courts are full width. Can't believe this is the home of the bullets. They should have gone to hibiscus or boondall.
