I saw Dr David today for a full skin cancer check up and a growth removed, absolutely felt at ease and have learnt a great deal now of what I should be looking for, as I’m a roofer in Cairns I’m getting cooked on a daily basis. Definitely highly recommend this practice, the girls were also lovely on the desk. Thankyou very team.

I’ve been to see nurse Mel at Skin Alert Cairns for numerous treatments including micro laser peels and lifting threads. Mel has been amazing to deal with and is very knowledgeable and honest in regard to what treatments would be most beneficial for my skin and what would be a waste of my time and money. Hi, I’ve been attending Skin Alert for about 20 years, always really well looked after and Dr Candler is a marvel at fixing me and the most meticulous stitcher ever!

I had many different laser and cosmetic treatments with Mel and she has always done a fantastic job. My skin feels and looks wonderful for the up and coming Christmas break. Mel will listen and take her time with you. She explains everything to you and completely honest in a polite manner. I don’t trust easily when it comes to my cosmetic injector, some may say I can be difficult but I just love having my skin looked after by Mel.

I’ve been to Skin Alert a few times over the years to treat skin pigmentation damage and have always been happy with the service. Today however was another story. I’d booked over the phone a one hour appointment clearly stating what I needed and that I’d be bringing my daughter. I was assured that she would be fine and just need to wear glasses, which she had done in the past. I arrived at my appointment today, having booked a day off especially. The lady who was supposed to treat me, Melinda, the nursing manager was very rude, asking what I was having done. I proceeded to tell her and she said well what kind of treatment? I found her manner so rude that I said, shouldn’t you know this from my booking? She had no clue what was going on, then said that I only had 30 minutes and it wasn’t enough time to do everything I wanted. I found her manner so rude that I cancelled on the spot. She told me, she’s not a receptionist and it’s not her problem that the booking was taken down wrong. How about some accountability for putting a customer out? It wasn’t the mistake that got me upset, it was the way she treated me. After I left, she left a message saying that their staff have no idea what they are doing and that I should never have taken my daughter as it’s dangerous. Funnily they treated me six months earlier for the exact same laser treatment with my daughter present. Now they back track and say it’s not safe for a child to be present…. But only after I left the appointment. They were still going to treat me today with my daughter in the room, despite the risk! Word of advice to anyone looking for laser treatment…don’t go there! New staff who could care less about you. I won’t be back.

I have attended the Skin Alert Cairns clinic since moving to Cairns in 2020 and the staff are all very caring and professional.

I was concerned when moving to the area to find a professional skin specialist, as I have a history of Cancer and I have to say that Dr David Candler is amazing.

I recently had a problem with 3 x spots on my lower lips and he did laser on the three area’s and they are feeling and looking much better.

If you are looking for a skin specialist, don’t hesitate to go to this doctor, he is very caring, professional and easy to discuss any issues with.

My daughter had a mole on her lip she needed removing as it was growing. My own skin doctor referred me to Dr Candler and his team as he said he was the best at this type of work. My daughter is only 6 and all of the staff from receptionists, nurses and Dr Candler were very sweet with her and calmed her (and her mother). They did the Laser work and it worked after 1 shot. At our review appointment I could again not fault the professionalism or the patience they had with my daughter. 100% recommend going here for any future appointments!

I would think long and hard before having a procedure done by Doctor Candler. He is a butcher. He ruined my life 4 months ago with a laser peel. I cannot use anything on my face.now. I cannot use make up now. No sunscreen. I cannot color my hair.i cannot go in sunlight now. I cannot use my computer. I cannot work. The TV burns my face. Food now burns my lower lip and skin around my mouth. I cannot remove any facial hair or pluck my eye brows. I am now allergic to the world, and have no life. I am now on medication for anxiety and sleep. I have spent thousands on specialist, not including the $1950 he charged me, on dermatologist, prescriptions, organic products, anything I was recommended I have tried. All I wanted was a couple on sunspots removed, he talked me into a full face peel, said I would be good to go in 2 weeks.
No, I would not recommend this clinic, to say the least. I may never heal, he said so himself. He also thanked me for not 'gunning for him", an admission of guilt in my books.
I have now heard this is not the first time he has been negligent. Word of mouth in Cairns is gospel. I would do anything to have my old face back.

I had a suspicious mole and was referred here by GP. I could have had it done at GP but really glad I went here. The skin check was very thorough and it turned out to be a SCC. Then found another BCC on back. Both were excised properly and the scarring was minimal which is good considering where the first one was located on neck. Excellent stitching and professional treatment. Thanks!

Don’t recommend.had a mole removal there. One month for waiting the five-minutes consultation and one month for waiting the one-minute treatment. I would not say any negative words if any works on my face. But the truth is, waste of money and waste of time.

I've been struggling with this wart on my toe and I've been trying to use freezes and wart patches from pharmacy but they got bigger and we found Dr David and just in the treatment 90% was gone and he gave me another treatment and all was cleared and I was very happy it was all gone and clean you must go see Dr David if you have a wart problem.

I have been attending Skin Alert for over a decade and have had many and varied Skin Cancers removed over the years by Dr Candler including Melanoma. Dr Candler's precision as a surgeon has meant significantly reduced scarring for me, and his decades of experience in identifying skin lesions has always given me complete faith in his most capable hands. Ted and the Nurses at Skin Alert are caring, professional and make you feel totally at ease. I have also had the Photo Dynamic Therapy on my face, recommended from my BCC's showing and the results from this treatment were absolutely brilliant. Highly recommended.

My husband has been seeing Dr Candler for a number of years and has always experienced excellent medical attention and advice. Working outdoors ensures that regular visits to see Dr Candler are necessary and Dr Candler and his staff make the process very smooth and hassle free.
