Shapland Swim Schools - Everton Park

Isaac has taught our son for over two years at Shapland Everton Park, and he is an amazing teacher. Our son was apprehensive about entering the water without me in there with him, but eventually he came around, and now he requests Isaac every lesson.

We have been at Shapland’s Everton Park for 6 years (3 children). The kids have benefited from lots of different teachers over this time and with our busy lives we love the make up lesson policy. The kids get good individual attention with only 3 per class and only 6 in the pool means there are less distractions for my kids. There is very much a sense of family amongst the coaches with many having been with the school for many years.

My daughter has been learning to swim here since before she could walk and has grown into a capable, confident swimmer. The small classes keep distractions to a minimum, which is a huge bonus for her.

Would highly recommend. We started our 4 year old here after her anxiety went through the roof at another swim school. Now she is thriving a year later. So glad we made the change.

Brilliant swim school! My children have been attending lesson for about 4 years now. They love it, I love it.
My daughter is autistic and the instructors are very patient with her. My son lacks a bit of confidence in the water but the instructors encourage him and by end of the session, the little man is shining. It really helps that there are only 3 kids per instructor and 6 in the pool at one time.
From the administration side of things, communication is amazing. Cheryl and the team are always approachable and easy to communicate with. I really can't rate them highly enough.

We have been with Shapland EP for nearly 5 years now, with both our kids. The small classes along with only two classes in the pool at any time, means that the kids are getting the focus they need to learn.

Would highly recommend Shapland EP to anyone looking for a lovely, small, outcome based swimming school.

The facilities are limited. They business is greedy.
People with older babies who can stand hog the two change rooms. My husband is left to stand in the toilet holding the baby and trying to change his wet shorts because others take up the change rooms. When discussed with shapland they say the babies should have priority yet no one honours this. They’re also very money greedy to take your money in advance. When extenuating circumstances arise because you can’t use the remaining sessions within the last week and ask if that can be extended for a week because we left town for two weeks to mourn the loss of our family Dog, they just reply that the rules are the rules they won’t make any exceptions to use the sessions I’ve already paid for. Clearly not in it to teach kids water safety.

Have been coming for over 4years with both kids now Great swim school 3 to a class so nice size teachers are really good with the kids especially when u are trying to teach toddlers! Thurs are a favourite day as kids luv to get in the pool and feel confident

The coaching is friendly and professional, lessons run like clock work and the magnesium mineral pool is so much kinder on baby skin and eyes. So glad to have found Shaplands for our 9month old, its money well spent.

Shapland Everton Park is the ABSOLUTE BEST! The teachers are so great! My boys love going to swimming and they have improved so much since starting here! Thank you so much for being so amazing!

Had to stop swimming lessons for my DAUGHTER (who they kept calling a boy after many times of correcting) for her skin condition. We asked for a refund and they replied back asking for a medical certificate which is what we supplied, after weeks of not hearing back they have finally said they will credit my SON and his siblings when she is ready to come back. One she is a GIRL & two she doesn’t have any siblings. Terrible swim school. Glad you made money off my DAUGHTER with a medical skin condition….

Both our kids have attended Shapland Everton Park for almost 5 years and we have loved the gentle and consistent approach to the teaching at this school. Our kids love it, and the teachers are wonderful. Highly recommend for younger kids who want to gain confidence in the water.

We have two children who visit the school and I cannot fault them at all. From the small size of the classes to the level of expertise and calming nature of the instructors is really outstanding. They don't go up classes so they stay with their other two friends in the class and are pushed weekly to learn more. You sometimes get a 1: 1 class when others are away which is fantastic and it's also amazing to see the change in confidence levels of our kids. We have to say that Issac is a favourite of our kids. But we've had both Issac and Cheryl as teachers and they've been awesome. Yes we sat on the side of the pool for the first 2-3 sessions to help them settle but the encouragement for both child and parent by the teachers was amazing. We recommend Shapland to anyone who asks!

I would not use them I been told by management the swim instructors can not be expected to remember every child’s needs!

Shapland Everton Park has been a wonderful swimming school for our family. My 4.5 and 2 year old have been coming ever since they were 9 months old. The instructors are very knowledgeable and are great at providing feedback about their progress. Although we have Cheryl & Isaac regularly, my children are comfortable having lessons with any of the Shapland team. I love the maximum 3 children to a class, the heated pool and the make-up system for missed lessons is the best of any children’s activity we have ever done. Cheryl has been very helpful with co-ordinating my request to change lesson times due to our changing schedule and to enable both of my children to be able to attend a swimming lesson at a similar time. Most importantly my 4.5 year old has developed into a confident swimmer and is now exploring different strokes and my 2 year old is enjoying time in the pool without me needing to get in the water anymore. I couldn’t recommend a better swim school.

I take the little ones here to learn how to swim and they absolutely love it! The instructors are friendly and good with the kids. Conveniently located for me also.

We had heard good things about Shapland from other parents. We have been to 3 other swim schools and Shapland is by far the best. The small class size means the teacher can tailor the lesson to the child which is great if not all children in the class are at the same level. The 20 minute duration is perfect for kids and their attention span and no time is wasted between classes with the interchange.
Cheryl in particular is an excellent teacher and my two kids look forward to swimming in ‘Cheryl’s pool’. My daughter (now 2) has gone (in 6 months), from no swimming experience and crying on the steps for the duration of the first months lessons, to paddling by herself.
I have recommended Shapland Everton Park to two other mothers who now also send their children there and are very happy with the progress their kids are making after both having come from another swim school where their kids seemed to be ‘stalling’.

We love Shapland Everton Park. The teachers are fabulous, magnesium heated pool (great for swimming all year round), easy parking and a great make up system when you can't make classes. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a small group, personalised swimming lesson for their child.

Unfortunately our experience was not as pleasant as we expected for the following reasons:
1. We didn't really feel welcomed and the rushing to jump in and out of the swimming pool made us feel just like a number.
2. Location is handy, but facilities are quite small and limited. On more than one ocassion the rooms where changing tables are, had a strong urine smell.
3. At the beginning it was nice to receive feedback via email about our little one's improvements and the skills that were being practiced, but it just happened once. The interaction with the instructor more often than not, was mere chitchat rather than feedback about the lessons or tips related to safety in the water or swimming.
4. I invited a family member to observe the lesson, but I was discouraged by the instructor to do so, due to the distraction that it causes to the little ones, however there were families with more than one person in the waiting room.
5. Making up lessons is not as flexible as it was presented during the enrolment. We tried once to made a make-up lesson and 0 out of the 3 times we selected were available.

We gave the month notification about our withdrawal and had three or four lessons left, but we did not feel likely we wanted to go back.

Shapland have been brilliant. All the teachers have been wonderful, friendly and patient. Swimming skills progressed far more quickly than at other schools and a greater diversity of skills. Fantastic!
