Shape Up Boxing & Fitness reviews
2810kg in 6 weeks, insane. The coach is ready for all levels and does his best to raise you higher. My fitness and convidence have skyrocketed. Amazing
The 6 weeks free challenge offer is a big lie. The deal I was offered was to pay in advance 6 weeks and if I succeed in the challenge of six weeks (showing up, etc) then he would give me a credit for the next months memberships.how much? 9 dollars discount per week over the next weeks till I finish my credit. OMG!
Tell the truth man! That is not a free 6 weeks challenge. You just made me show up for a fake deal. You are nice and easy but man, come on, dont do that to the people. Thats not Australian, mate.
I will contact the regulatory institution and complaint about.
Great gym and great people very welcoming. Went as a complete newbie to boxing and have really enjoyed it!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ATTEND ALL CLASSES AND RECEIVE QUICK RESULTS IN WEIGHT LOSS ️ IVE DONE THE 6 weeks Challenge and I’m continuing as I’m personally enjoying it and am receiving the best of results
Best gym I’ve trained at! Been the most fit I’ve ever been. Definitely go here if you want to learn how push yourself and become the best version of yourself you can be!
Absolutely loved it! I nervously signed up for the 6 week challenge, not knowing if I would be able to commit. But as soon as I did my first session, I quickly released it wouldn’t be a chore to show up and instead the highlight of my day. Geoff encouraged me to set the goal of loosing 6% body fat and I thought that was well above my capabilities but I ended up loosing 7%. I highly recommend signing up for the challenge as you will be surprised by how much you achieve. The gym environment is extremely welcoming, hardworking and results driven. I loved training with people at different fitness levels too because it makes you work harder in among a supportive atmosphere.
Awesome environment, friendly members and staff, great training and place the place is massive
From what i have read most of the low star reviews were about the free challenges. I can confirm that it is true, the lack of transparency on their ads have wasted my time.despite being called a "6 week free challenge" it is not free, there is a necessary payment of $600 for seminars, classes and other services.so why do you call it free and still charge people for this? This is the definition of false advertisement, nothing about the challenge is free.i'm sure the program they are running will help you achieve your fitness goals.however, their lucrative business model will have you wasting your time if you are not prepared to pay the sum of money.
If you have a level of boxing knowledge you'll be ok. The hard sell, lack of real cooling off period was concerning however thought we'd give it a go. Paid $350 up front for "free" challenge and was assured of additional support as I have existing injury, didn't mind as it was reasonably priced at that point we believed for the nutrition, exercise physiology support, classes etc assured.they couldn't even remember my name, and certainly did not "taylor" to my needs. Most concerning was when I decided to leave there was a veiled email stating an exit interview was required before I could leave.and this of course was further hard sell opportunity. I of course, declined. The lack of response to cancellation emails led me to cancel the weekly fee directly through my bank (ensuring I paid the notice period). No response to emails requesting confirmation of contract ended rather further attempts to take payments from my bank! Email sent today, and triggered this review to warn others.don't be fooled. Beware and never set up a membership with your bank card details to this company, as they can keep taking the money unless you change your card with the bank, a lot of messing about.
Very disappointing and not at all what I hoped for.
This is an excellent boxing gym with great coaches and classes. I have been coming for the last 6 months and can confidently say that it is an awesome place to learn and improve your boxing skills. The coaches are very knowledgeable and willing to help, and the classes are varied and very enjoyable. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking to give boxing a try.
AVOID AT ANY COST
Advertised “Free 6 weeks challenge” to trick people in then its $599 for 6 weeks of 3 sessions a week, was told if you win the challenge the $599 will be used for membership which is like $49 each week. So there’s nothing “free” as advertised. Politely walked away thanked for their time, few days later a message came in “If you actually listened and understood and also read the small print you will know that you earn it for free. Anyway It's alright, we understand you can't afford it. Shoe doesn't fit for everyone! ” This is the attitude when they didn’t get the sales and starts to insult people. The gym stinks like dumpster, very dirty ugly and outdated, worst part is the sales people, absolutely rubbish. Avoid at any cost.
While it seems like a nice gym and the owners seem knowledgeable about fitness and training, the predatory sales tactics and being deceptive about the ‘free’ 6 week program is quite off putting. Basically the program isn’t free, which is understandable because time and effort goes into it, but advertising it as if it is entirely free is kind of ridiculous and gets people who don’t have much money in the door, only to have membership almost forced upon them. Once you are there they are quite pushy trying to force you to sign up in front of them and not giving you much space to think about it, as said in another review apparently they aren’t good at stopping your membership when that time comes as well but I can’t comment on this.
I would have been quite receptive to paying for the program had I not been led to believe it would be free originally. Also if you get anxious easily or are more on the timid side you could be persuaded to sign up even if you didn’t want to because of the tactics being used.
Seeing as the program is advertised as free, it will usually attract people on the lower end of incomes like uni students or otherwise, and then to be coerced into paying at bare minimum $500 is kind of dodgy. Not somewhere I would want to sign up to personally.
Best place to learn how to box and Shane’s fitness classes are tough and fun! By far a class above the rest! And I’ve trained in many boxing gyms around the world!
Highly recommend ShapeUp Boxing & Fitness. Friendly environment, Geoff and Shane are very knowledgeable! My son has improved immensely since he started here boxing around 7 months ago. We’ve been to a few boxing gyms and this beats them all by far! Will never leave.
Just make sure you read every single later on the paper you’re going to sign there because you’ll be tricked to stay there for life!
All they care about is just getting you in and getting your bank details.
I can’t even dream of going or recommending anyone!
I had the worst experience when I wanted to leave. I wouldn’t want anyone to go through the same.
Shape up boxing has been good experience pushes you to another level and good fitnes classes to get in shape
Joined this gym couple of months ago and could not be happier with the quality of coaching and the extensively supportive environment at the gym, everyone is extremely knowledgeable and patient. Had an absolute blast participating in spar wars with my mate and would definitely do it again.
My partner and I have been attending shape up for about 6 months now and we absolutely love the friendly, family feel environment. The team are lovely and are always supportive in what you want to achieve.
ShapeUp is the very first gym I joined and felt that it was a great place to start. The services and training by Shane were absolutely brilliant. For an absolute beginner like myself, Shane would kindly show us the correct form etc, set a good pace for beginners, and really helped build confidence in the gym!
HOWEVER! The lack of communication and transparency has been highly unsatisfactory and a real let down.
I initially signed up for the free 6-week challenge, which you still have to pay a 'fee' of $300 to sign up for (or $850 to “put your money where your mouth is”) ; I did find that the classes were great and decided to stay for another 4months or so, and then work became too busy so I had to discontinue and thought to cancel my membership.
I can certainly understand that being “down the usual admin” means slower response times, but 4 weeks (and counting) and no response seems a bit excessive.
Also, keep in mind that the 30-day cancellation policy only kicks in when they respond to your request, nevermind your original message (and follow-ups) 3 weeks prior.
Credit where credit is due, I believe that Geoff and the team at ShapeUp are knowledgeable and passionate about what they do, and guarantee if you do put in the work, you’ll see results.
Harassing people after they don't want to join your gym is unacceptable. YOu cannot force people to join your gym. What kind of busines is that? If you keep being aggressive with customers how do you expect to even have business? If they don't want to join your gym, you can't force them. That's harassment. STOP IT! The police have already been alerted. Happy customer, Happy successful business. That's the basic fundamentals of business. Refund your customers their money back and maybe they will stop giving you bad reviews.
