Shali's Cafe reviews
66What you pay for is what you get, the chips were okay that’s all I can say. Definitely has diverse menu option… maybe too diverse.
Had the butter chicken and it was delicious. Service was great and the staff were friendly
We had lunch here today after our massive hike waited 45 mins for our foods, when finally served my partner had a couple of bite in his Tandoori chicken burger and a hair was in his burger I called the manager show her the hair she ask which meal from we said the burger, she apologised I will refund you and took the food come back with $15 that’s it. Omg what a service after waiting 45 minutes we’re hungry, she didn’t even offer any alternative. Definitely not coming back to this cafe ever. After that we went to Secret cafe down the road and got an awesome service.
A great little place to have a light lunch and continue on the tourist way. A wide variety of selections to choose from at affordable prices.
The food is really not good
This sounds so first world but if you are not hungry, even if you are, you will only just get through it
Very nice staff though
The most amazing "Thick Shake" I have had shakes all over the world and this was up the top, served in huuuge metal container just like the old days. 2023 update Shalis is still amazing and a must visit when inthe hinterland area, a lovely family owned and operated business
Best place to eat in Montville, for range and price. Chip serving was way too much but that might be a good thing for others.
Food took a long time, pie was luke warm at best, the scones were stale, spinach and feta roll had to be followed up on and then was microwaved and soggy. Overall it was one very ordinary experience
This place was great. I loved seeing the sign with big letters saying GLUTEN-FREE on their menus. There were gf pies and sausage rolls and they understood what being a coeliac meant. They were so lovely and accommodating. The tables were dirty as they were so busy but we didn't even have to request that it be cleaned as one of their staff ran out ready to clean and have us sit and be comfortable. It wasn't the first place we chose but we are so happy we did end up here because the food felt good and wholesome. It had a family feel to it too. Great casual dining. Also the samosas were apparently really delicious, I just wish it was coeliac safe so I could have some too!
We had a lovely breakfast there and the service was fantastic!
We could smell curries cooking while we we're there so we're definitely going back for some of those!
Came for breakfast. Smoothies are half pulp half liquid. Bacon and eggs could have been made better in my own kitchen at home.
Best range of eats on the Sunshine coast. A thoughtful menu with contemporary Australian and traditional Indian food. Amazing Savoury pastries and fantastic selection of sweet treats. They also have heaps of gluten free options which often rival if not surpass the taste of the standard menu. Seating is great, unique and welcoming setup. The meals are very generous and the pricing is the best in any eatery I've seen, it's not just fair and affordable but in many cases I feel too cheap for the great food you get. My two only suggestions 1: To staff, express a bit of a smile from time to time. In general the staff are good but they are young and there are a few that won't even look at you or have warmth in their voice. Even if you have to force it a bit, put on some hospitality as you'll find it makes people respond better which in turn gives you a better shift and happier moments through the day. 2: The coffee is a big let down to me, I've bought a few over the last 10 years and haven't seen an improvement. Even with the smaller machine you have I'd suggest getting at least one member for each shift that has knowledge on not only making coffee, but how to set up the machine and learn grind settings and pour times etc. They don't need to be the best in the coast, just competent enough in the craft to make the amazing Shalis experience 5 star. To sum up this cafe? We rarely eat anywhere else in Montville and it is truly worth the visit and many returning ones at that.
Cannot make a coffee, asked for a flat white and half the bloody cup is full of foam after waiting nearly 20minutes.
Hotdog was soggy and wet and had extra layers of skin and chunks of fat, not worth it at all. They even forget to put your order though and you have to wait longer. Never again. Good luck to any visitors, and prepare for a toilet visit where the double flush is necessary xx
If I could give no star I would! Terrible service and awful coffee! Enough said, dine in at your own peril!
Waited nearly 40 minutes for 2 take away coffees when there was nobody in front of us. The bacon & egg rolls were good & well priced, staff were polite. Good location. The only thing letting them down was the wait time for the coffees.
The staff were beautiful but I felt overcharged. The same order should not go up by a dollar in 5 days
Went in as they advertised gluten free options. Ordered a burger and it was not as tasty as I was hoping, the patty was very fatty. We ordered a meal, drinks and a pastry and constantly had to remind staff of what was left to bring out to us.
Beautiful fresh homestyle cafe food, fast and friendly service. Set beautifully with the perfect amount of sun. And amazing prices. Will be back. Highly recommend for those seeking warm hospitality and comforting food
Young lady behind counter was attentive, friendly and professional. Very organised for lattes and other coffees. Minimum waiting time.
