Sandgate Aquatic Centre reviews
51 Not impressed with one of the lifeguard that treated me like not supervising my son (i was sitting by the pool and i paid for being spectator) He was questioning my son age “he is 7? !? ! Then he smiled, because he is smaller than his age group.
And when i said “i’m supervising my children” he said “oh, you doing a great job! ” Very not impressed at all. That’s not how you communicate with parent/costumer.
Fabulous Cafe on the foreshore with inside and outside dining. Great views and next door to the aquatic centre and playground.
An exquisitely beautiful water front park and water environment for everyone. Summer sea breezes from across the bay, cool the landscape. BBQs picnic tables, shaded area make this a most wonderful place to meet with friends and family or just enjoy the outdoor environment.
One our fave places to swim. Prices are great. Only thing I’d like to suggest is having the outdoor lounge seats cleaned. They get filthy dirty. Hanging for outdoor area to reopen.
GraB A fish and chips for lunch from Douglas or near by shop and sit and enjoy your lunch, plus walking with the hoods on the beach without shoes on, and watch dogs playing on sand and have a lovely view of the great Sandgate beach. Nice children park. Haven’t been inside the pool, but outside been many times for lunch and sunset and highly recommended for new visitors around town.
Sandgate don’t forget to visit lagoon.
This is a great public pool. We have enjoyed the kids outdoor area with the slides for a long time and my Sons swimming assessment. The staff are lovely. My sons party was nice here, but there is competition for tables and chairs. A first in best dressed policy. We understand they don’t reserve spaces for parties, but on arrival to have to scavenge and improvise which was stressful. The grass ground was littered by some rubbish which was sad. Plastic, paper and lolly wrappers, that I cleaned up when we found a spot. I couldn’t unpack the car, because I was flying solo to set up. Had I of left our space would have been taken, chairs etc. My car was parked way down the road due to no parking near the facility as it is a very busy location. There’s no entrance down the back end of the pool. I recommend for a casual swim but not a party on weekends or holidays, unless you can get there at opening to secure a spot. Shade is limited in comparison to the capacity of people that come through and space required. Little park next door, café inside, and seaside situated.
Nephews 10th birthday was here, was great has 3 separate pools, only thing is the bay food they have in the centre doesn’t have much variety of foods to choose from, like not much at all other then that was great!
Truly amazing place. I went with my family, and had an hygienic, safe and nice experience.
Great kids pools. Plenty of seating. Nice choice of food and drinks at the cafe. Beautifully presented and maintained. I used to come here as a child in the 70's so it's nice to bring my Grandaughter here. Changed a bit since then though
It's a pool for fun stuff!
Great freindly staff will go out of their way to help you out. GOOD ONYA!
Fabulous place for kids and mature age.great new Cafe and Fish on Flinders over the road.all you need for a relaxing day.heated pool also if it get a bit cool along with a 50m pool and playground pool.
We love sandgate pools. Plenty of space for gazebo, great pools, indoor & outdoor. Toilets provided by both pools and lifeguards were very generous and opened the lock gate so we could carry our items out. Appreciate that as we had heavy items. Coffee shop accessible from inside the pools aswel. Highly recommend!
The vending machine will charge you $5.20 for ANY purchase even though it says you will only be billed for the amount of the product. The staff are FULLY aware of this and yet there is no sign telling you this information! Nor have they tried to rectify the problem. And obviously trying to get through to the company that owns the vending machine is impossible! Do not use your card to purchase from this vending machine!
So much better after the recent upgrades. The additions of the Bay Health Club and Bay Cafe are great to see.
This morning we were harassed by the aqua aerobics instructor who left her class to run accross the other side of the pool to accuse my wife of filming. She was incorrect, was rude and made my small family very uncomfortable in the venue. We left upset and felt that we had also experienced racism, as we are a mixed family and the way the lady talked to my wife was demeaning
We love this venue but this was a level of unprofessionalism I have not seen before.
They have a heated pool inside, as well as a pool outside, and a kid's area with slide etc. There are nice grassy areas outside for sitting, but you need to bring your own shade/cover.
They sell small ice creams, slushies, bottled water etc.but if you want a proper meal, you need to bring a picnic lunch, or go to a nearby fish and chip shop. I'm fairly certain you have to pay to get back in again, so make sure you're done swimming, or being your own food.
A cool place to take your kids, everyone needs to supervise their kids but I still liked that the lifeguards all looked on point and moving around to check on swimmer safety in the kids area.
Probably one of the most expansive but the cleanest aquatic centre in Brisbane. It has heaps of pools for everyone. No slides though but the lap pool, outdoor kiddie pool, and warm indoor pool is worth its very affordable entrance fees.
Great pool with lots of space and things for the kids to do. However a bit more shade and extra seating would make a big difference during busy times
It's a lovely pool and well kept garden area, the reason for only 3 stars is because I feel as if the fee for spectators is steep costing more then young children to use the pool. Seems a little backwards to me.
