Saccharomyces Beer Cafe reviews
61Cool venue, great vibes, decent selection on the taps. Good crowd turned out for trivia - locals clearly love this place.
Love this place! Unpretentious old orange brick pub embedded into Fish Lane, blink and you'll walk straight past it.
Beer range is excellent and changes weekly. Meals and platters are a twist on standard Pub fare - I think the main chef might be French? Apologies if my accent recognition is way off! Anyway, he's certainly a magician with food Prices quite reasonable. Service is variable, depends who is on.
No aircon so avoid during heatwaves. Not really child friendly esp at night.
Nice friendly pub. Good beers on tap and tasty bar food. Surprisingly not to noisy or crowded on a Friday.
Edit: Yep, it’s Lindsie!
I did in fact dine here on 2 occasions and ordered a serving of fried brie both times.
The first time, the chef kept making comments about how I should get the baked Brie instead and I had to ask multiple times for fried. When he brought out the food he continued with the same comments.
The second time, the chef said again that I should try the baked as it is better however I said that I would like the fried.
The chef brought out the baked, despite my order. He did not come back out at all and as my partner worked there I did not want to make a fuss. When he asked the venue manager about it later, the venue manager asked why we didn’t say anything and there was little to no accountability felt for the issue.
I also attended a staff Christmas party with Saccharomyces this year and the venue manager was so incoherent/intoxicated that he forgot he had met me earlier that day and even on an occasion prior. Another staff member also urinated on store neighbouring one of the venues we attended and then passed out on the grass.
As a customer, poor experiences both times.
Only 1 pinball machine, not 3. It’s coin operated. You can’t get coins from the bar unless you have a physical plastic card (Pincadia in the Gabba does). You can’t play pinball if you only bring your smartwatch/phone to pay, even if you buy something else.
As someone who as never been before, I found that the bartender was extremely unwelcoming. I am actually insulted by the sheer extent the bartender went to show me just how much he wanted me to feel unwelcome.
If you like beer, you need to visit at least once. Amazing range of beers on tap, good service and not bad food if you need a nibble. Beer fridge range has shrunk a little but still good.
45 minutes for our food to come. Others waiting a lot longer. Then… my meatballs were raw in the middle! Never again
I recommend visiting this venue for its excellent craft beer selection. It has been certified by Untappd and has received positive reviews for its selection. Whether you are a fan of craft beer or just looking to try something new, this is a great place to visit.
After work drinks for a colleagues bday. Selection of sours was good and the tequila was so good we bought a bottle for the office =P
They change what's on tap really often, like master curators. Their tap list of beers is always grouped in the same order and they always have a darkhbrown beer that I like.
I didn't rate the food because I haven't tried it, so I really hope that's not calculated as 0 stars.
Stopped in for a snack while waiting for a train. Big range of beers for Oktoberfest. Nice chips and meatballs. Good value.

Always decent craft beers on tap and pretty good food. Not a bad place to hang out in Fish Lane.
We are from Far North Qld and when we come to Brisbane this is always first on the list. Fantastic choice of craft beer and food and great atmosphere. Highly recommend this place!
Our family dropped in for lunch today and there was hardly anyone there. Very casual. Had a great feed. Thoroughly recommend.
Went there week before awesome staff, went back next week, sorry we are closed at 9: 30pm while people are in there, is it a bar or what?
Great craft beer bar in modest digs with a bit of a beer-geek dive feel.
Craft brewery stickers fill every inch, with some famous craft brewery tin tackers and artwork - the whole feel of the place screams 'we like beer'.
This was something that brought me right back to breweries and bars in the US. And the tap selection was the icing on the cake.
Although it was about knock-off time on a school night when I visited, this would be an epic local hangout, or at the least worth a visit if you're into local Brisbane and domestic (and possibly international?) craft beer.
Great selection of beers, pretty awesome vibe and real lovely staff. Didn't try the food but Beer'a'misu sounds god damn delicious
It has great beers reasonably priced, and bar food, and is comfortable, unfortunately a bunch of orangutans wanted to see who could be the loudest monkey in the jungle, so my stay was short lived, but will definitely return to this hidden gem
I have been a local for many years and I have finally popped into Saccharomyces for a quick drink with the other half and I liked it. Good drink selection and the food looks and sounds great. Will be back to have a feed and another drink soon.
