Platypus Shoes

Went to get my son a pair of shoes today, 3 staff members, not one of them offered any help, all 3 were standing behind the counter chatting, I had to approach the counter to ask for shoes, then they were just handed to us, (shoes weren't even laced up) & she walked off, no customer service at all. When we went to pay all 3 were standing out the back chatting, & she had to turn down the music to serve us, as it was so loud she couldn't hear us speak. Not happy at all with service at Platypus Robina, very poor, staff members were more interested in themselves than helping customers.

Went in to do an exchange on a christmas present today (27/12/23,12: 30-1pm) as they were one size too small. First girl i spoke to was a manager who refused the return as there was a couple scuffs on the bottom of the shoe (she claims it looked like dirt, however it wasn’t, which i explained and she still refused) which was from trying the shoes on this morning before deciding they were too small. I went away, wiped the scuff off, came back to exchange them, and first dealt with a super kind male employee who was happy to do the exchange as they are brand new, until another employee rudely interrupted saying they still wouldn’t take them back as they “saw the scuff before we wiped it off”. He claims that we “should have tried the shoe on in store, and they can’t take back any shoes that have been put on elsewhere”. It was a christmas present? Majority of the planet don’t try on their gifts before they receiving them. Clothes, shoes, etc are often given on christmas along with the receipt incase they don’t fit the person they are giving them to, so they can exchange them? ! I have attached a photo below of what the shoes look like. Literally brand new. No scuffs. Nothing. At the end of it all they weren’t refusing an exchange because of the quality of the product now were they? Because they are literally brand new with no flaws. I’m not normally one to complain, but coming from someone who has also worked in shoe sales, the employees customer service is awful. When you purchase $100 shoes and can’t swap the sizes when there is absolutely nothing wrong with the shoes and it looks like every other one on the shelf, it’s pretty disappointing.

(I believe the managers name was Georgia. Have seen a couple reviews here about her poor behaviour also!)

EDIT: spoke to the customer care team who were amazing and confirmed we in fact COULD exchange the shoes. Shame on the employees for refusing an exchange for nothing.

I am an NDIS Support Worker. I took one of my participants into Platypus shoes at Robina Town Centre. She was nervous as she has physical disabilities and often gets treated poorly by service staff. They are often condescending towards her and ignore her and talk to me. We were serviced by the lovely Charlie who stated that he works there casually. He was honestly so professional. He was respectful and very engaged. He educated us on what the participant would need in terms of shoes for her feet that are malformed. He was so inclusive and professional. When it became obvious that we were not going to be able to get shoes there, he looked up other stores and educated us on what she would need. I can not say enough how amazing he was. He has a really bright future ahead of him and all staff from all sectors could really take a leaf out of his book.

Got some shoes today and the boy was so helpful great attitude and excellent customer service. Thank you

Bought a pair of shoes for our kid and only found out nearly 2 months later (after xmas) and after he wore them for a day that they inadvertently gave us 2 different sizes - we didn't have the receipt but they were super helpful and patient - i found the transaction day/time/cost and they found theirs and swapped out the wrong size, with a smile! Great experience

Shay was super knowledgeable and helpful. Went above and beyond to make sure I got a certain pair of shoes. Great style and provided an all-round great experience.

Clean store, great customer service as the staff where friendly, patient and amazing. Will definitely be going back.

Will never go again. We just waited to be served for so long no one came over and asked if we needed help. Tried to ask someone was just brushed off and someone else who walked in after me got served they didnt want to help the family with the child that would not stay quiet.

Great store inside Robina Town Centre (next to Apple store). Has a wide variety of shoes and great range of styles. The staff were extremely helpful and provided information that would generally not be available about sizing and shoe comfort. The staff assisted in the purchase of a pair of Doc Martens. Highly recommend this store and their staff.

There was a staff member, I really wish I grabbed her name. She was so kind and accommodating even bending down to tie up the docs on my partners feet when he had really smelly socks on, yikes. Good thing he brought them!

Bought $230 shoes, sole tore away from the upper whist out, I glued the sole back together to get home. Within three weeks of purchase and they refused to replace or refund. Said I had tampered with the shoes.

Came in late on a Thursday night, was welcomed within minutes of stepping into the store by Kate
She really helped me with all my questions and queries, wasn't biased to sell the most expensive late of shoes, gave me multiple options of what would be best for me and finished of with recommending aftercare and a killer smile!

Came here to check out some Nike shoes and didn’t see them so I had to keep walking around.
Asked a staff member why it was and she told me that they change the displays all the time but they can’t change the signs.
Why not simply just keep it the same.

But staff are friendly, had like 3 come up to me and ask if i needed any assistance so there’s no shortage of them.

Possibly the worst customer service I've ever encountered. Talked to 3 different but all equally snarky and rude ladies. I purchased $100 shoes and both shoes fabric lifted and ripped within the first month of owning and was refused a refund or faulty exchange. The so called manager said they're ripped and faulty because I wore them. Absolutely ridiculous. They lost another $500 sale from me that day. Will not make that mistake again.

Possibly the worst customer service ever encountered and some serious lack of knowledge about consumer rights.
