Picabeen Community Centre reviews
19An inviting friendly place that provides a variety of activities & support services for all ages and a free BBQ every Tuesday.
This centre has the loveliest, friendliest and most compassionate staff anyone ever could ask for, they have helped me and my little boy immensely and we are so very grateful, thank you so so much!
/ Susanna and Noah
My organisation used this space to run a workshop.
It's a nice, friendly, kind of space. Lots of kids drawings on the walls. It's not what you'd call upmarket.
It's a nice, friendly, intimate space.
Only drawback may be, because it's on the first floor of the building, there's no wheelchair access.
The friendliest staff, well located and disabled access to both floors. They’re great help to my mum who was applying for a NILS loan. Will be back to support this great cause again soon.
My daughter was seeing a counsellor who was a great fit for her. Sadly, she has left and we are now awaiting someone else to take her place.
The lovely people at Picabeen Community Centre have been great in helping me apply for a NILS loan during a difficult time.
Thank you very much to Vicki, she is fabulous. The staff who greeted us were also lovely, I’m sorry I didn’t catch their names.x
Saw a member from this community last year about moving out of my abusive parent's home and she told me it would be too hard while i was in school so there was no point trying. Four months go by and i successfully move out and finish my last year of school without Picabeens help. Thanks for nothing
A fantastic community center where you can apply for the nils loan or get counseling for domestic violence! Many self help groups meet here! The N. A. Meditation meeting is on at 7pm every Monday night! A. A.members are welcome or any other 12 step member who would like to benefit from the meditation or share their experiences! Food hampers! Social advice!
I have been studying English here and it was one of my best experience while being here because of meeting new people who helped and understand each other and who work together to help and support you. So I'm glad I was put in this for my English class. I hope I can attend more of this class this year
This is a pretty cool place. There's surprisingly a variation of activities on offer and other things as well.
A community information center linking local events! A Communify project funded by the Qld Government! Food hampers are available & government loans available! Art projects available!
Such a pleasant an polite place especially from those who sacrifice there own time an show empathy to others without judging them. See at some stage in most of our lives we hit rock bottom and at this centre all are treated equally. Thank you an keep up the great work.
Got good groups they have food hampers and occasion they have a food bank with the lord mayer or mp
There is a fantastic Play Group held here every Monday and Friday (10am-12pm). Great for newborn to 4 year olds. It is facilitated by two volunteers from the childcare industry who are just lovely. Plenty of toys, painting, sandpit, crafts.

My son is a quadriplegic, we are always on the look out for activities for him to join in, especially on a social level. Every morning I research to find activities and events for he and his carer to attend. I fell across Picabeen in my search a few weeks ago and though trying not to raise my or my sons hopes I quietly visited Picabeen, I spoke to a lovely lady explained that my son is in a wheelchair and though a small step was at the entrance that should access not be an issue, I came home in very high spirits thinking I have found this wonderful place. I told my son and his carers about it and we were all looking forward for Tom to attend his first craft day the following week. As discussed the previous week, the morning of the class I called to see if we needed to bring anything and inquire what craft activity they had planned.
I was told by the manager that the class would not be starting till 10.30 instead of 10.00, that the information on their website was not up to date.
She did not know what craft activities were planned that maybe it would be better to come next week. Then I explained told her our story and the visit I had the week before that my son is in a wheel chair, that I do this research to avoid disappointing my son. That I don't have another activity for them to do that day. She then went on to say that the area may not be suitable for someone in a wheel chair. I give up, I hung up.
I am so disappointed in this place. If you are not and average person that fits in side the box, don't waste your time here!
- 5 stars from us.
A very helpful community centre. The ladies there (Vicki and Jill) are more than lovely! They have been nothing but helpful throughout the past year I have been attending their playgroups. I started out by attending the Young mums group and Friday Playgroup and due to work, I only attend the Young mums one on a Tuesday. Would recommend it to all young mums free on Tuesdays and any aged parents on a Friday.
