Palm Beach Aquatic Centre reviews
36Came here for swim lessons for the kids which was great however the facilities are in need of serious renovations.
It was disappointing when our bookings for the hydrotherapy pool were not in the system when my Client and I arrived.
Not just once, but on two occasions
Even more disappointing was the receptionist's inference on the second occasion that we couldn't have made bookings in the first place. For the record all bookings for community access are made by myself in my Client's presence.
The hydrotherapy pool was not fully booked, and thankfully we gained admission in both instances.
So engaging in a tirade of petty point scoring and apportioning blame at the expense of a Patron with disabilities is questionable.
Considerable preparation & planning is needed to get my Client to the venue, and the risk of being turned away is unacceptable. I make no apology for assertively insisting that the matter needed to be resolved.
As we were leaving - in a petty gesture - I was offered a post it note with the days and times booked. I am well aware of my schedule with my Client, so I declined.
The receptionist abruptly screwed the note up and threw it on the counter, with a threat to cancel all appointments. I gestured for her to lower her tone in the presence my Client.to no avail. I chose to disregard subsequent comments.
Whilst my Client has a disability, it was an extreme error in judgement to assume he was not fully aware of the treatment he was receiving, and he has formed his own opinion.
It prompted us to make alternate arrangements at a far more inclusive & considerate venue
Usually good, unfortunately the pool is being closed down for possibly 18 months in May, STUPID Council. The pool, and the hydro Pool and possibly the kiddy pool should be left and extra things built around without closing down the whole pool.
Not just a pool or three, also a very friendly and well equipped Gym and Fitness Centre that feels like a friendly yet professional home without the pretentious Gold Coast vibe that is prevalent in so many Gold Coast gyms. Good range of classes and DTE staff
Played squash here last night. Great club, friendly members, great atmosphere. I heard the local council are closing them down! Over 100 member will have their local club demolished. The council should be ashamed of themselves! No interest in the local squash community at all. Under handed and Disgraceful.
The pool itself, terrific. Its water quality is impressive and each time I’ve been for a swim it looks free from debris such as band aids or chewing gum.
The rest of the complex will be getting a much needed redo. Looking forward to a new pool returning with updated facilities.
Great centre with a real community feel; just about to be updated.
Helpful, friendly, knowledgeable staff.
50m + hydrotherapy pool are great. Showers have no benches or shelves in them for changing. A good selection of additional activities and classes as well as full gym? Love this place. Parking is difficult.
Wonderful place to have your children taught to swim. Clean and well set out. The most kind, supportive, swim teachers, experts in their fields.will have your little ones or any age very easily taught and swimming quickly with confidence and ability.
The place is very dirty, came there once with a baby and very disappointed; the change tables next to dirty drain and dirty floor …and doors are not sealed so welcome to rats and mice to run on change tables in a night time, people how you can put you children at this health risks? Also the water in pool cold for winter months and like 100 people in one pool the same time which is crowded and not hygienic as well. Very bad
I love the rehab pool go there three times s week the staff is very friendly and the customers are great as well. It is going to be renovated and i hope we can have our warm rehab pool rebuilt x
Great value for money
Lots of choices. Terrific team of instructors. Always there to help support
Enjoy my visits every day. Wheelchair friendly, much to offer people with any issues. Will miss this place when it is closed for renovation but looking forward to the new venue? ? ️️️️️? ️
Really great 50m pool for laps, kept very clean. Shade sails help keep some part of your swim in the shade. As the 50m pool has no shallow end, not a great one to learn in but there are other pools at the facility for learning.
I find the staff very courteous & helpful as they help me sign in for my Hydrotherapy sessions & help me with future bookings for Hydrotherapy. It's lovely to get in the warm water & do my exercise program.
Just give up on the Covid signin / signout stuff. It's not required anywhere else anymore! The coaches are nice but they all teach different techniques which is confusing for the kids and annoying for the parents.
Friendly, helpfull staff. Clean change rooms and toilets, showers, and a great location, P. B. C RULES.
Nice pools. Nice staff. The kids inflatable"fun" area would be more fun if they weren't so strict on the health and safety, basically one at a time. My kids had fun but were done after 10 minutes.
One of the best pools for my specific sport (UWH) in Queensland- and despite having strict covid safety measures- it is still better than indoor facilities that restrict 20 max people per sport.
The facilities are well kept, and the staff are very friendly. A word of warning if you are trying to swim in the 50m pool, understand that there is now a private swimming squad that occupies 8/10 lanes during peak morning and afternoon times. Makes for incredibly congested swimming for both members and casual swim patrons.
Nice to be able to do more physio exercises in hydrotherapy pool. Used water weights kickboard and noodle.
