As a new participant to the sport Julian has taken his time to consult and guide me whilst providing an inclusive environment with more established paddlers.

I have been coached by Julian for several months and my paddling has improved remarkably. He has a keen eye for technique and quickly picks up on any problems such as paddle length and blade angle. The use of videos whilst on the water I have also found very useful. The regular coaching sessions and having a programme to follow provide great structure to ensure continual improvement. This has been evidenced in a reduction in time trial times every single month that I have been following the programme.
There is a great group of paddlers in the squads at both Brisbane and Currumbin who always provide encouragement and support.

Julian is great coach! He’s helped me immensely with my return to paddling from a long break. His training programs are tailored to improving skills and technique in an inclusive atmosphere, whilst providing great motivation to get out on the water!

A brilliant all round program for whatever level you are at, having trained with a number of coaches across triathlon, running, swimming, and cycling this is my favourite program and coaching cohort so far. Coach Julian responds promptly to queries with specific highly personalised advice

The Peak Performance Program has provided me with structure and routine to train smarter than harder. I am able to paddle more times a week with less injuries and the results speak for themselves!

Julian took me from beginner paddler to a confident and competent paddler in just a couple of months. In the early days, his coaching focuses on technique, so bad habits are avoided and the paddler is rewarded with speed as technique improves. I’ve loved paddling in the squad sessions in Brisbane. It’s a really diverse group of people who are competitive, but lighthearted and welcoming. Highly recommend Julian and paddle2fitness.

As a new comer to the sport I found alot of advise that made no sense to me regarding technique, so I felt very lucky to find Paddle2Fitness podcast by Julian Norton Smith. I've learned piece by piece common sense set up and technique tips from Julian and now have advanced enough to feel confident to take on Paddle2Fitness coaching. Again this hasn't dissapointed, Julian isnt out to smash me in my training and leave me feeling not up to the task. I get through each week feeling better than the last

G'day Julian, I have been paddling now for a couple of years and I was stuffed with the leg drive and hip rotation, couldn't get it to happen. Then came across your link about stop leg drive and pull the hip forward instead of pushing back in to the seat. Well what a bloody treat this was as it worked, leg drive comes automatically. Cheers mate and please keep posting your coaching skills.

I started paddling in Julian's squad approximately 10 months ago with a couple of mates given we signed up to have a go at Coolangatta Gold. Julian's in depth technical knowledge about paddling all types of craft has been invaluable. He is extremely personable, professional and a great mentor to many in the sport whether newcomers or veterans. If you've never tried it I can thoroughly recommend coming along to his sessions. Great fun, a good hitout and great like minded people. Keep up the good work Julian. Cheers. Ian McGregor.

Julian came highly recommended by some very good paddlers. After a year of trying to figure it out by myself, I decided to have a lesson and haven't looked back. After just 2 lessons I'm really excited by the improvement. From equipment set up & advice to detection & correction of technique he covered it all. Moreover it's the way he teaches. Friendly, positive and concise. Great drills to make you actually feel the correct way followed by excellent observation and feedback as he paddles along side coaching. You go away clear in your mind what you need to do and how to do it. The sooner you see Julian the better.

As a beginner paddler 4 months ago, Julian of Paddle2Fitness came highly recommended to me by a number of experienced paddlers. From an initial 1 on 1 session to his weekly squad sessions, I have since raced 3 events in this 4 months. Julian provides outstanding technique coaching in both 1 on 1 and squad sessions. He does so in a very encouraging and professional manner. Am grateful for the recommendation and introduction to Julian as it has certainly launched my paddling life off on a brilliant footing. Thank you Julian and Paddle2Fitness!

Julian is a passionate and knowledgeable coach who has the subtle ability to simultaneously teach/instruct and get the best out of you! Classes are fun and variable and you can chart your progress through noticeable improvement every week. From initial session to regular paddling, Julian can set you up with the necessary skills development, technique instruction, and practice routines as well as boats, paddles and associated kit. Can't recommend Julian and P2F service enough.

I had been paddling for a couple of years with little to no improvement.that is until I started with Julian. Since then I've seen noticeable improvements in my technique, speed and endurance.

I had hoped to keep him as my little secret but it seems anyone that is serious about paddling is turning to him. Tony Brown, what chance have I got of staying ahead of you now: - (
