Norman Hotel reviews
70When you spend $85 on lunch (1 person) it would be nice if it was good, wish I had read current reviews, things have fallen away dramatically (again). Texas T-Bone closer to rare then medium rare, fillet side on one side devoid of sear marks, rest of steak very poor sear, cooked how someone who doesn't cook steak would cook a 600g T-Bone (portion size marginal). On top of that gristle and loads of sinew very average meat (would be disappointed if I had bought it from Coles), garlic cream sauce lumpy and plain taste (probably old), Potato half normal size. Started to eat very slowly, hoping someone would ask how my meal was, didn't happen. Norman can be hit and miss, this was a big miss, very disappointing was looking forward to a great steak lunch. 12: 30PM 02/08/23
The staff are great under enough mess pressure. Spent over $150 but won't be back, the business model is broken bug time
Perfect dining experience, fresh ingredients, Reasonably priced, fast service on a busy Saturday night, Highly recommended
Overpriced average steaks, for a place that prides itself on steaks the doneness on several steaks at our table was not per their guide. The baked potato was soggy. The drinks service was reasonably fast. However once the order was delivered the service staff were nowhere to be seen. 30 mins after competing our meals the table had still not been cleared at this stage with plenty of flies around we had to call for the table to be cleared and it still took 5 mins.
For the price there is better.
Food was very overpriced but good, not the best. Loud pub atmosphere and you have to queue to place order. Took a while to get order. Nice place to try one but I wouldn't go back.
Poor service and food.
We’ve been here three times in 12 months and over this time the service has become poorer and poorer.
For a restaurant that is known for its steaks two of ours had to be returned to the kitchen as they weren’t cooked to medium, they were more rare! The chips were cold and the salad was poor.
It’s bad enough you have to queue up for at least 15 to 25 minutes to order a meal which keeps you away from other people at your table, at $39.95 for a 200 gram eye fillet, no more, there are plenty of other places that can give me a better steak where I don’t have to leave my table.
No Staff came at ANY STAGE to remove any drinking glasses or dirty plates until we stood up to leave, and we were there 3 hours
I don't know how this place has a reputation as the best steak house. Went there for lunch with my partner today, we both ordered the TBone with baked potato and coleslaw. He asked for medium, I asked for medium rare. We also ordered the brisket spring rolls and cheesy garlic bread. Both steaks were pink on the outside and hardly grilled at all and insides were completely raw. Coleslaw was bland, lacked seasoning, same as the dried up baked potato. Definitely not worth $40.90 each for the mains. However the spring rolls and garlic bread weren't too bad. Needless to say, won't be going back or recommending the place to family and friends.
Very bad experience with this restaurant tonight with my guest. There is no table service or order from App or online. Very long queue to make my order on the casher. You need to take another queue to order your drinks. One of the staff in the drinks section didn’t take my order correctly and when told her that this is not my order she was very rude as this my mistake while she didn’t take the right order that I confirmed 4 times! Overall, this place with the current prices is not the best place to make an event or invite a guest as we won’t get service for what you pay!
They make great steak we recommend asking to sit near heater during winter it can get quite cold. I tried the wagyu and it’s quite nice for the price they charge.
It was my birthday and we actually went to the Pineapple Hotel to find the restaurant closed.
So the Norman hotel was by default.
We were very pleased with the meals.
Very average steak and sides, staff clearly overworked *not a criticism of them but they need more on* and seating tables right next to smoking area is pretty disgusting.
35min line up to get in was really disorganised.
Heard a lot about the famous steaks at the Norman Hotel so decided to try it with my partner Saturday night, place was full and glad we booked. Loved the ambiance, its a pub on steroids, massive in size with a lot of different areas.
There is no table service so you order from the sales counter, took a little while, but that was fine. Meat is on display so you can choose your steak on vision. You can see into the kitchen and looked like a mass production line, also very nice to see.
I ordered the filet minion and I saw the sausages when ordering and ordered one of those as well. My partner wanted chicken and ordered that and I also ordered a bocconcini salad. The bocconcini salad is tomato slices with slices of mozzarella on top salad a few drops of cheap balsamic vinegar.
Wait time was fine and in the meantime we had a wine and a chat. Meals came out and presentation was good.
Unfortunately my filet was dry as was my partners chicken. To be truthful I was disappointed as I had higher expectations from a place that supposedly specializes in meat. To be fair the sausage was absolutely delicious and we both would have been happier with sausages for dinner. The bocconcini salad, hum, well below par.
I would go back for the atmosphere and the sausages but not sure that this would be the place that I would go to if I had a craving for a juicy steak.
Average pub meal. Ordered medium rare rib
fillet and steak was served rare. Dianne sauce was disgusting. Coleslaw below average. Potato was slop and overcooked. For the price we expected better. Some of the kitchen staff were not wearing masks as some patrons were not wearing masks either. Very disappointing to say the least. Even with a refund we would not return.
Cheers for the weekend everyone over the good food at @normanhotel? And yes Brissy people know where to find good steak here in Brisbane plus @cheffrankcorrenti has created more varieties range of menu for everyone. When I'm craving for steak then @normanhotel is my choice!

Had a great time at the Norman Hotel to celebrate my 18th Birthday, Meals were absolutely exquisite. Service was quick and punctual. Over 15 people were served in under 30 minutes. Outstanding service. Thank You Norman Hotel for your amazing hospitality!
Great for gatherings
Fantastic alfresco seating that’s perfect for a balmy evening out with mates. Order from the bar or easily from the table with your mobile phone. Great service and serving speed.
Had a 300gm NY striplion done medium rare. Served closer to a medium at the table however, and would’ve benefited from more seasoning. Sides and sauce were extraordinary though - beautiful mustard bearnaise, chips and slaw.
Honestly, a little underwhelming on the whole, but still an enjoyable dining experience - especially on the boss’s dime.
The steak was good apart from my medium rare steak was overcooked. The sides weren't great, in particular the mash potato, you could taste it was that powdered mash potato, which you would not expect when you are paying 37 and above for a meal. My partners medium rare steak was overcooked as well. The overall quality of the steak was good just the sides need a bit of work.
Great place to come and have a pub meal as well as a few drinks at. The steak is very good quality and is always cooked to a high standard. Highly recommended
Front bar was closed at 10.15 on a saturday night after a Brisbane Lions game at the Gabba.
Only one bar staff at the restaurant bar to try to look after the crowd that came.
First time here & it is amazing food, great atmosphere/vibes, good drinks, plenty of space & room to choose from to sit eat drink or relax, lots of staff around tonight to assist, nice service. Parking is the only thing that could be an issue, apart from that brilliant place to go visit!
