Mary Valley Rattler reviews
76What a fantastic experience from the very unique rattler train carriage booths to the 1st class dining and absolutely wonderful volunteers and our very entertaining host Ralph who took us back in time highly recommended big thumbs up
Whilst we enjoyed the experience of the MVR train ride, not knowing the area & the lack of signage showing the way to the station made things rather stressful. Local council need to improve the quantity of signs to assist tourists in the area find the location with ease.
We had the pleasure of taking a trip on the Mary Valley Rattler - VIP - Club Car - with all the trimmings - which included a 3 hour journey from Gympie to Amamoor and return, a complimentary cheese platter, drink, water and stubby cooler each plus a 2 course lunch and drink upon our return to the Gympie station. What a wonderful day we had. The train trip was very enjoyable and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. If you get the chance to do this trip, go for it - you won't be disappointed.
To the Rattler team - keep up the good work.
Regards,
Wayne and Heather
What a fantastic day we had as a family aboard The Mary Yalley Rattler. I would recommend this amazing experience to the young and young at heart. Thank you Ralph for making it a fabulous day with your friendliness, education and experience you shared on "board The Mary Valley Rattler" cheers Donna
Lovely day, all the staff from the ticketing, coffee shop and train staff were excellent and very friendly.
We booked for the trip with our two dogs and were looked after with our own carriage and water for the dogs.
The train journey was excellent with good commentary throughout the journey.
Would recommend.
Best experience for a long time, highly recommend this trip. Staff are fantastic will be back again.
Beautifully restored locomotive and carriages. Gympie station is exquisitely presented along with the iconic steam locomotive and coaches in immaculate condition. Unfortunately the weekday service is run the same day as the Eumundi Market and I could not do both. I like the carriage seat layout which is like the compartment layout but without the walls.
Went on the Mary Valley rattler with my kids today. Was the best day we have had thanks to the very friendly and polite staff. The whole experience was brilliant. Highly recommend.
A thoroughly enjoyable experience. Scenic, fun, friendly, country towns, food, wine, handmade arts/crafts & rolling into station with band playing on station.
A piece of precious history that has been painstakingly preserved for all to share.
A great experience that all should visit!
Love steam trains. If you do too, this is a must do.
Edit: Our 2nd trip on this famous train. Excellent service from knowledgeable staff. We'll be back!
Great day out. Appreciated the onboard commentary. Our carriage attendant was extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
Truly a wonderful experience. You won't be disappointed.
I booked a first class trip for my parents and I. They suggested we arrive at the station by 9: 15, I think that's an hour before the train departs. But I'm very glad they did because it gave us time to grab coffee from the Rusty Rails Cafe, watch as the engine pulled into the station, and even have a quick chat with one of the engineers.
There's a lot to experience before the journey even starts, so give yourself plenty of time and don't make the mistake of arriving just in time to board.
The first class experience was wonderful. We had cheese platters on arrival and we had our choice of drink. Thankfully, the heritage experience didn't extend to the bar service, and there was EFTPOS available to purchase a couple more
I don't want to spoil too much about the journey but it's a delightful day trip, educational, interesting, and very relaxing. The team at the Mary Valley Rattler do extraordinary work, and I can't recommend this experience enough.
Perfect day. Beautiful scenery; welcoming friendly staff, nearly all being volunteers; comfortable cabins with lots of space & plenty of windows to enjoy the stunning Mary Valley vistas; fun time at Amamoor watching the train turn-around & visiting the colourful markets & general store. Then to top it off a fantastic meal back at Gympie Station with the most delicious burgers & Sweet Potato we've ever had. Thanks to all for a wonderful day. We loved it.
Fantastic journey with an interesting narrative along the way.
Topped off with friendly and helpful volunteers.
Booked a VIP experience with my family and we all absolutely loved it. The whole experience was wonderful, well worth it.
Wonderful trip for the family. Great staff who are all passionate about the train and the journey. A great way to spend a day in the Gympie region
We booked the VIP experience through the tourism Qld voucher program. One word amazing, an experience of a lifetime. Ralph was our guide and many people commented "wow the staff love what they do". Till one of the other Gympie rattler staff said "no it's all volunteers" …. Which explains a lot about the love and passion, that the amazing team showed to all of us.
I'd personally like to thank all the team for an amazing day out.
The fresh local produce a on our journey was amazing.the marry valley was so picturesque with its post rain effect, the communities at the stations were lovely
Awesome sums it up in one word. Fabulous staff. Very cheerful, helpful and informative. Definitely would go again. Wonderful experience. Loved every minute of it.
There were 18 of us and we were all seated in the same carriage without an issue even though we had booked at different times. Every aspect of the trip was well planned, the service was attentive but not intrusive and everywhere was clean! The old worlde cafe with the piano player for breakfast coffee was delightful, the view from the train was scenic, the food and drinks trolley on board was stocked with local products, the stops at Amamor and Dagon offering market stalls, cafe, wine and cheese tasting and live music were entertaining. Nothing but praise for every volunteer who has contributed to this fun experience with special mention and thanks to our enthusiastic young guide, George!
