Mary Ryan's Books, Music & Coffee reviews
25Great Billy Choo's coffee, with a nice selection of light meals. The girls were very helpful and easy going.
Very limited range and poorly signed. Could not see any travel section and despite walking through twice nobody offered to help. The website photos are old and don’t show the tiny new shop. Really a waste of time.
Love this shop. Has great items for sale. The cafe serves a great coffee and the food and serve is very good.
A great discovery on an early morning visit. Good coffee and brekkie wrap. Looks like the go-to place for the workers in the area.
I highly recommend Mary Ryan's at Milton. The staff are very welcoming and they make amazing coffee and food.
I went into this bookshop the other day with my 3 children and at the door way was a stand of the most disgusting cards.on every card was the f word. I teach my children to speak nicely not to swear and have respect. I could not believe what I was seeing.do these people who design and order these cards speak to their children like this.very bad taste.
.
Not really a bookshop, more like a place where they sell books, among others. Coffee smells good though
Unfortunately there isn't a lot of great book stores left in town and this is not great, too. It is tired, run down, the carpets are stained and it's not ambient or inviting to find a book as a loud coffee shop is located right by it inside. I want to like it but the few times I've gone in there, the service is lacking. There have been no customers the 5 times I've gone in yet no staff to be found. Wait at the counter, someone approaches eventually and is not friendly or welcoming or helpful.
Unfortunately, this little book shop needs a revamp and an attitude change.
Also shoving books haphazardly on a shelf without displaying them nicely is off putting. Although, this wasn't the whole store but it was in certain sections. And no it wasn't a a bargain bin! It was definitely the way books had been put on the shelf!
I am local and have gone in each time ready to spend money & on purpose to support local but the whole experience put me off purchasing.
This is becoming a common theme in book stores unfortunately, in my experience anyway.
If anyone sees this and can recommend a great bookshop, I'd be grateful
Love this shop, it's variety of books for all ages.the couches, the music, the staff.buy a book.read a magazine.lovely stop in the middle of.anytime really.
Loved this place
Food was a bit pricy but overall delicious
Every bookworms' dream and friendly customer service
Good deals and sale bins for the books as well
Great place for tea. Found by accident but is a fabulous cafe inside a book/gift shop. Great ambiance. Furniture could be more comfortable or cosier given the setting. Love that they have Twinings extra strong tea bags but two bags in the pot! Way too strong and assume it was an error!? But would go back. Raisin toast was awesome
I was admiring one of Jackie's upcycled pieces and commented I wanted to do something similar. Even though I wasn't going to buy hers she was incredibly helpful with tips - that is outstanding customer service. Three cheers, and five stars!
Really friendly place but it’s still listed as having an Australian post office there which it no longer does!
Didn't know there is a bookshop here, though small, it's nice and delicate. Staff is friendly with smile. I highly recommend here.
Is there a better book shop in bris? Nup.every book you can imagine in this beautiful art deco store.
I go to Mary Ryan Books usually every Saturday to get The Australian. Opps, today it was raining and I ducked through the usual side entrance at the front. Stepping ever a dog leash just inside the door, the dog attached bit me on my leg.
I was really annoyed that the owner had no concern. I said it drew blood so I would need to attend the hospital. He said "Good! ". That was extent of his care.
The staff member being notified of the risk with a customer blocking an entrance with the leashed dog could only respond by cuddling the dog and no seeming discussion with the offending owner.
A very worrying experience for me without any remedy from the staff member or dog owner.
Lovely selection of books with some comfy seating areas throughout and a great cafe inside. Also conveniently located inside is Milton's Australia Post office.
Was in here last week and I cannot believe it, they have plants on the table that are poison. This is UNACCEPTABLE there are children around. Highly recommend not going here unless you want hives, lucky the hospital is so close by.
Service was pretty unfriendly. No "hello" or "thank you". Just dumps my order at my table without a word, not even a "you're welcome" to my "thank you". Cake was chilled from the cabinet, with no offer to warm it, but once I had left it to warm a little it was very nice. Coffee was good; well made, not bitter. Good range of GF cakes. This is their second chance, with the same service last time.
This shop is a nice cafe that and a okay bookshop if you're looking for anything that's not home gifts, kids, travel, cooking or popular biography books. Popular fiction seems to have a decent section though looking for crafting books yielded no wins.
