Limes Hotel reviews
64I unfortunately had to cancel a group booking made on line from a third party booking platform. Limes had no obligation to refund my booking. They worked with me to ensure we both had a good outcome which saved me a lot of personal cost. I could not recommend them more highly and will ensure they are our hotel of choice when visiting Brisbane.
In a word, disappointing.
My experience included:
1. Incorrect Room Assigned at Check in:
I required a late check in (after 5pm). I organised this the day before and found my envelope in the safe as expected. The room access cards were enclosed with other information including the assigned room and floor number. According to the information enclosed in the envelope provided I was assigned to room x on floor x. After a callout to the afterhours number and a 45 minutes wait I was able to access the actual assigned room namely room y on floor y. Thankfully there was no one in room x at the time I was trying to access it. A minor issue in the grand scheme of things but when you include this alongside point two and three below, they paint a sad picture.
2. Daily Room Servicing:
On day two (the only full day I was in residence), when I returned to the room at 15h15 after leaving at approximately 6am, I discovered the room had not been serviced (no tea / coffee replacement, no fresh towels, no waste removal). Ordinarily that would not concern me, however the bathroom and shower in room 'y' has no shower screen, as a result all towels available are required to dry yourself and a very wet floor (evidenced by the damaged walls and door). The Hotel Reception Person available at the time was able to provide me with a set of dry bath towels and assured me the room would be serviced before I returned later that same evening. The room had not been serviced when I returned at 8pm.
3. Maintenance and Cleanliness:
As the attached photographs demonstrate. Carpet stains next to the bed, Missing Privacy chain on the door and damaged door frame plaster, months of dirt around the skirting on carpets, significant water damage on bathroom walls and door, cracked plaster work on bathroom walls and bedroom walls, cleanliness of beverage trays in kitchen, bedside light fittings and fixtures cracked and broken. Entrance foyer skirting damaged and parts missing and broken.
It astounds me that the Limes Proprietor thinks that this represents an appropriate standard for a four star facility. I would have trouble accepting this even in a 1 star facility. I can only hope this feedback is received with the intent with which it is posted, namely to callout a standard I observed that I think warrants a challenge in the interests of improvement.
Reasonable price and good location. It was clean and guy on reception really nice.
Issues. They close reception at 4 or 5 so you have to pre check in but you are not told this until the day if you get a call which I did not.by chance we found out we needed to check in early.
They have a big quilt on the bed in Brisbane. Too hot for that you need a sheet.
The TVs are mix of old and new and mine was rubbish old and barely worked. The AC blows directly on your face but you need it because of the quilt.
It isn't perfect but comfortable clean and quiet, oh so quiet.
Oh the shower heads are made for children and hobbits not adults. So low it is annoying.
I had booked multiple different rooms for a stay, so got a good idea of all the spaces.
The staff are lovely. And doing their best. I feel for them having everyone complain about the state of the place.
The hotel is indeed very dank. The rooms with courtyards have clearly been booked by smokers. They absolutely reek. One of the rooms we ended up swapping had an ant infestation in the kitchenette.
The showers are tiny, slippy, mouldy, have no door. The shower head needs a replacement. It was covered in calcium and grime. You also need to be 175cm or shorter to use it.
The one single lift in operation has clearly had someone recently vomit in it. You can’t breathe in there.
I honestly couldn’t wait to leave.
Photos on website showed beautiful styled rooms. As soon as I opened the door I wasn’t keen to stay. The carpet looked feral and was loose and rippled. The bed bowed in the middle, there was 1 hanger in the wardrobe and the view was of a concrete wall.
Ended up leaving early, just used it as a base to get changed.
Would never rebook, lesson learned.
Quaint hotel in a quiet location. Clean and up to date amenities. Friendly, helpful staff on reception. The complimentary minibar was a very pleasant surprise.
Very proactive with after hours check in.
Complimentary mini bar is so appreciated!
Room was lovely, bathroom nice and spacious and a nice outback area with a hammock.
Really enjoyed our stay at the Limes, very helpful and friendly front desk, very quiet, clean cosy room,
close to the valley and train station, will certainly stay in the future
stay here in fui
Definitely not a boutique or 4 star hotel. Danky rooms. The mattress was wet and the staff who I called did not do much to help besides tell us that we could find another hotel. When we reached the hotel on a late Sunday afternoon, the entrance was locked. There was no one at reception and after much looking we saw a sign on the reception table asking us to call a phone number. Luckily, we had a local SIM card but if we didn’t, we would have been stuck. So, don’t expect much in the way of service. It’s all remote. The building was like a ghost town. This is cannot be called a hotel by any standards, leave alone 4 star. It’s just an old building converted into a lodging house.
Stayed here a while back. They tried to scam us out of $250 for ‘smoking in the room’ even though my partner and I aren’t smokers. Only refunded us after we called multiple times, emailed upper management and disputed with the bank. Avoid!
Horrible, horrible, horrible. We had to be there by 7pm, travelling from interstate, or the reception closed, so watch out for that. Staff at reception were surly, disinterested, unhelpful and unable to communicate with guests. The evening receptionist could hardly wait to get away. Room was very small and smelled mouldy. View of a brick wall. Two very loud functions in the roof top bar, directly above our room which we were not warned about. Party guests were screaming and yelling till very late. The bed was hard. No glass door in the shower so water went all over the floor. TV was awkward to operate. Overall disappointing. Don’t bother staying here- it was awful!
More like a boutique hostel than a hotel: We booked through Airbnb, was overcharged big time. There was holes in the wall and the light fixtures didn’t have light bulbs in. The bed was quite comfy but overall It was not a good experience at all.
What a great find. From the moment we entered and were greeted by the friendly receptionist, everything about this stay was wonderful. Coffee machine was a nice touch and the bed was comfy. FREE minibar! Yes free. And there was a complementary drink included from the roof top bar. Great cocktails there and a lovely place for pre-dinner drinks. I will definitely stay here again.
The staff were absolutely amazing. Juan, Fabrice, Alejandro and Dan were absolutely perfect and they were so nice. We attended a 21st there and I have never experienced such amazing service. So grateful to have had these staff working because it really made the night so special for the birthday girl. Thank you so much!
My go to hotel when I want to stay in town for a night out. 5-10 mins walk from restaurants and clubs, but just outside the noisy zone.
Beds are comfy and mini bar is free.
No USB charging points, which is a downside for me - never remember a plug.
Cute & tidy little hotel tucked away in the valley, close walking distance to pubs & the free mini bar is an excellent touch! Parking was very short walking distance. Good value for money, Would stay again.
Consistently good. Comfortable professional stylish. Regular patron. Catch the train walk from Fortitude Valley train station in 2 mins - perfect.
We were really looking forward to staying in this boutique hotel for a weekend away. Regretfully the our experience was not as pleasant as expected.
*Upon arrival, there was a birthday party on the roof top (Level 5). The music reverberated throughout the WHOLE hotel including our room on level 1. Thankfully this stopped by 7pm.
*The roof top bar offered nice cocktails although the space could definitely do with a fresh repaint and wash the cushions on the seats.
Our room (005) was a reasonable size. However, DO NOT EVER STAY in this room. The room is directly above a courtyard and the people below were drinking and talking till the early hours of the morning.
*The water pressure in the shower was NON existant and it was extremely frustrating to use.
*The television was basically DEAD. The colours were all wrong, the sound was rubbish and there was really no point in watching this TV.
The rooms are definitely no sound proof as we could hear all the comings and goings of other hotel patrons.
*The lift was very temperamental and it took us riding up and down in the lift three times, trying to get our swipe key to access our floor, before we finally went back down to reception and they swiped us up to our floor.
A positive about this room was that the mini bar was complimentary and the room rates are reasonable. Makes me think that you "get what you pay for". I would have expected though that the BASICS could have been met.
I would not be recommending this hotel to stay in for more than one night if it can be helped.
We recently had our work Christmas party at the rooftop at Limes, and what an absolutely fantastic night! The venue was just the right size for us to spread out (60 guests) and enjoy a perfect Brisbane summer night.
All of the bar and security staff were totally brilliant - friendly, professional and very accommodating.
The food was delicious with good serving sizes. Everyone was stuffed by the third round; I was having to force people to keep eating.
As the organiser, I found it super easy to deal with the function staff who did a wonderful job coordinating our night.
Many of us stayed at the hotel, which was super convenient and the rooms were excellent.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Limes for future functions, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the office wants to come back again next year!
We had a wonderful experience in this boutique hotel, I enjoyed the atmosphere and feel of this hotel, my room was nice and clean very comfy bed. Complimentary drinks were provided it even had water to drink. The only sad part was the heated pool was not warming up and it was very dirty. The staff on when we arrived lacked to pass us information she wasnt much of a help with stuff, however she mentioned she was new, overall the experience was great, the receptionist we met while checking out was very friendly and bubbly. We recommend this hotel and we will definitely be back when the roof top bar is open.
