We had the fine leaf mesh installed and even in light rain water runs straight off. Very annoying as we can't use our patio area now when it's raining. We only have a gentle sloping roof line too. I asked this question when getting a quote and was assured it wouldn't be a problem. I've sent an email and didn't receive a response. I've put a thin bead of silicone around the edge of the gutter and will see if that helps deflect rain back into the gutter. The metal edging they use to hold the gutter guard onto the edge of the gutters has started to rust after 1.5 years. Be aware they will offer a 20% discount if you accept at time of quote to try to pressure you into buying straight away. I'm sure they would still offer this discount even if you wanted to wait a while. Be aware it is an expensive product and expect an "average" house to cost $4k+ for non-coloured fine leaf mesh (this price includes the "20% discount"). Other than the above it is a quality product that was installed well and has significantly reduced the amount of organic material in the gutters. You will still get some build up (dirt and sludge) in the gutters, but nothing major.

Carefully assess what you need - dealing with Leafshield has always been professional and timely, the product that they deliver is first class, and the installation excellent. HOWEVER, they under-emphasise the limitations. If you have fine leaves, none of their products will keep these out of the gutters without regular maintenance – which asks, why install in the first place? If you want to catch rain water, do not install. Cover the roof valleys only and save your money.

We contracted Leaf Shield to install gutter protection around our house to our existing gutters to stop leaves from blocking our gutters. From the moment the mesh was put on we now experience an overflow of water around the complete house even on very light rain. We have repeatedly contacted them to rectify this issue. Their response was that the leaf shield is to prevent leaves from getting into the gutter and that it is doing it's job. We are now left with a gutter system that does not collect water and creates a waterfall around the house on any rain. We have been advised that it will cost us to rectify the problem. We would not recommend Leaf Shield to anybody.
