Kathmandu Fortitude Valley

Huge thanks to Robert for helping me with shoe sizing and choosing the right type of rain jacket! Very much appreciated his guidance as I have minimal hiking knowledge/experience.

Robert, Cheryl and Amanda delivered excellent service. Each individually took time to speak to us and listen to our needs. Robert helped picked out each item we needed and explained them. Amazing service would not recommend higher. Thank you for the great customer service.

I can't recommend Kathmandu Fortitude Valley enough. Amanda, Cheryl and especially Robert helped outfit us for our Japanese holiday and move to Launceston.

We went into the Fortitude Valley store on a recent trip to Bris from the Gold Coast, to look at new hiking boots & shoes. Cheryl assisted both my wife & I and was excellent. Very knowledgeable about fitment - actually measured our socked feet (haven’t seen that for years) advising on taking an extra size or half up for hiking boots and how to best test for toe room for those downhill trails. Being experienced walkers / travellers, she listened to what we wanted, what we had used in the past and gave recommendations accordingly. She was a joy to deal with compared to the Pac fair store where it’s near impossible to even get someone to go get the required boot from out back. Robert was also very helpful with an older couple who were looking for travel shoes for their trip to NZ which we overheard & when we returned to buy hike socks. Well done - it’s worth the drive to Brisbane for this service.

I bought several pairs of fairly expensive socks here thinking this was a quality brand. Within weeks they had holes in the toes. About $15 a pair. The charity shop ones from Lifeline were way better quality and $2 a pair. Be warned. Another example of a name brand selling outsourced garbage for high prices.

Great shop in a good location. The area keeps growing and Wandoo street is moving along with it. This store has everything that Kathmandu has on offer. Display is good and easy to look around. I parked in carpark at back of shop which I was told about. There were signs everywhere saying that you will get towed for parking but I was assured by shop worker that it is okay to park there if shopping at Kathmandu. Anyway all went well and found a nice top on special. Reccomend!

Wasted an hour of my life there with no one coming to say “hi” or to help suggesting anything. I went in there planning to buy 2 jackets for me and my partner but, did not receive any service so I walked out. I did asked one of the staffs that I have some questions with the product and needed their help. She said that she will get back to me but, never did and went on and serve other customers. So, I left.

The range was limited and customer service was persistent despite telling them twice that I was just looking.

I have just been to this store. Very weary and overwrought as I entered. Met staff member James. Babbled at him Re: what items I needed. I was out within 15 mins, (which included a good laugh with all the staff) James was extremely helpful, knows his stock, sizing and understood my needs really well. Discounted stock - sale is on. My shopping adventure here made my day. Fantastic experience. Highly recommend. Thank you

Awesome assistant helped me assess the features of the backpacks to choose from for the use I had in mind as a gift for my travel companion. Nailed it.

Customer service very lax. Purchased pair of shoes today… lady gave me shoes to try on and left me.came back 10 minutes later and bloke serving others got me the next size up. Came back and asked how the shoes were and I told her they were too small. Said she’d get the next size which I already had. Doesn’t make we want to go back. Have never struck this in Kathmandu before.

I was looking for a hammock and the service dude knew exactly what he had and helped me work out fast it wasn't exactly what I was after. Good hammock for the bush doof or weekend away but not 3 months hiking! Really helpful anyway and I'd hunt there again for new toys!

Great service from one of the girls, didn’t catch her name but she had several nice earrings. Super helpful, genuinely enthusiastic, and went out of her way to help me. Thanks!

Shout out to Linda for amazing customer service! Popped in here on the last day of their sale before flying back to Sydney and she went above and beyond, phoning around Sydney stores to find stock for the items I wanted that they didnt have in that store. Then followed up with me a few hours later with an update. Fab.

David was incredibly helpful and his assistance ensured that I will now be a lifelong customer of Kathmandu.

The cashier is very nice and thoughtful. She told me about a UQ discount that I wasn’t aware of and also noticed I am getting the wrong size socks. A really great experience shopping here. The other staff today is also very friendly. I was looking for gaiters but don’t know what’s it’s called. He’s being patient and helped me get the thing. I really appreciated

Been a customer of various Kathmandu stores over the years. What I like about these places is that they generally leave you alone until you want help and then will answer questions without the need to try and sell you something.

Today at the fortitude valley, Queensland shop, I purchased 1 x 8 man tent, 2 x camp chairs, 2 x sleeping bags, 2 x 75mm thick sleep matts. An employee named Isabel went above and beyond, she was amazing and definitely deserves credit. She gave me plenty of advice, options, called several stores to ensure I got all of the best products to fit my needs, was always super positive, smiling and knew everything about your store, literally the pinnacle of an employee for a company.

Another employee there named Courtney was rude even though I wasn’t dealing with her, every time I said a light hearted positive comment or a poor joke to my girlfriend or to Isabel she would mimic me in a condensing manner, constantly make noises and pulling faces not knowing that I can hear and see her look me up and down with a sarcastic facial expression. I am always friendly and happy and this poor attitude was a let down.

I had one of the best shopping experiences of my life due to Isabel but I felt guilty not mentioning the lack of professionalism that Courtney displayed. Hence the positive and negative review.

How on earth do you justify being open in a 3 day emergency lockdown. Everywhere except those selling food are closed in the area, including my retail shop. Totally irresponsible and not a good look for your store and brand.
