Do the guided tour! Such an informative tour from a very educated and respectful guide, Neil. Learnt so much from a very unique tin and timber (Aussie as it gets) temple from Atherton Chinese community, which began in the 1880s (unfortunately the community had flickered out by the 1920s). Highly recommend!

Amazing place - from the outside its just a tin shed but inside is a rich treasure trove of Chinese traditional items. Volunteers were very welcoming and enthusiastic about this important historic place. Must see when in Atherton.

Unique piece of Chinese settlement in Atherton at turn of 20th century. National Trust guides incredibly helpful and knowledgeable of the history of early Chinese whose leases were terminated as the land was given by the State Government to returned soldiers.

This tour was sensational. The guide gave us so much insite into the Chinese contribution to our mining society. Definitely worth the visit. And all looked after by 5 volunteers. Well done you guys for all your effort.

Great example from the early Chinese living in Atherton. Well restored and looked after by the National Trust. Very helpful volunteers explaining the history of the Temple and the Chinese in the area.

A very interesting historical place. If ever you get a chance to visit this Chinese museum it is unbelievable. The little joss house across the way is made out of tin- it really is very unique.

Absolutely amazing place, the temple is over 115 years old, I recommend the guided tour of the temple, the museum was very interesting as well, you can spend as long as you like, just wandering around

What a delightful experience. How lucky we are to have places like this rehabilitated and preserved for future generations. Thoroughly enjoyed Sunny's tour, passionate and informative guide.

This is well worth a visit. The lines of the corrugated iron and timber make this a beautiful and picturesque building and the local history is interesting. Unfortunately we got there so late in the day that our tour was rushed but the guide generously gave us extra time.

Even the National Trust rate this building as their most significant building in Queensland. The jewel in the crown. Last of more than 100 chinese bush temples in Australia. All others are made of brick. Unique in many ways.

A must see. The guided tours are most informative. We all should learn a little about our local history.

Great historical place to visit and has an art gallery and beautiful gardens with seating amongst the trees. You are able to look to the west and take in mount baldie ranges which is a national park. Part of the building where the gallery is located was the old atherton post office.
