Incredible experience to end the year!

My partner and I have really enjoyed the entire morning with the 2-hour tour.
The staff is very friendly, the place is very beautiful and we have seen many barramundis (one of them was huge!)

Fantastic morning spent fishing with the guys at Hook-A-Barra. The team were all super informative and we all caught fish. They’re open for business after the floods. Well worth a visit.

Simply amazing! 10 out of 5, best fishing I have ever done. Throw your lure in a bring in a catch. Test yourself in the Trophy Lake which is needed or you will simply bring in too many fish and you lose the challenge. STaff were amazing and accomodating. Simply the best a must from now on versus the charters.

My husband and I had a great time here the other day! We’re avid fisherman who have a boat and travel for big game fishing so fishing in a fish farm isn’t really our usual style…. BUT I cannot deny the fact that this was fun as hell! We had a barramundi charter booked in Cairns and the captain cancelled on us the day before. We had heard about this place from a few people and decided to check it out. It was awesome. Steve and Jake were so nice and let us use soft plastics, poppers, land even a fly rod in the “trophy pond” to mix things up. Caught so many fish. These fish are incredible! Their pop when they strike puts snook to shame. Just crazy aggressive fish, which we got to see during a demo in a tank and also while fishing for them. Also got some barra for dinner while there. Steve told me how to achieve the perfect crispy skin and it came out so good. Just stop here, you will have an amazing time!

Hands down a fabulous experience for all the family. The team there are phenomenal and done all they could to help the family enjoy the time. If you are thinking about it, stop and just book it, you won’t regret it. Thanks for an awesome morning guys. Rach and the Phillips family

It was an amazing experience with wonderful people. I would definitely come back! I caught 2 fish that were ginormous, you can buy them and take them home to cook or you could throw it back in! The amazing Hookabarra crew that were helping us were (everyone one was amazing with kids)
Steve - The Fishing Teacher, Price, Jake, Bailey, Eddie, Simon and Michael.
It was so good!
P. S. Stay for lunch it’s amazing too!

This is our 4th time to Hook-A-Barra.
We bring our visitors here to catch a barra and for lunch.
Their battered fish n chips or fish burgers are always deliciously fresh. It’s hard to eat fish n chips anywhere else.
Each experience has been fantastic.
The staff are super accommodating, always very friendly and nothing is too much for them.

Thanks for a fabulous day team Hook-A-Barra!

Awesome! What an experience for seasoned anglers or total novices.
Where else can you catch fish like this and be totally supported by the amazing staff?
It was so good that I went back for a second session a couple of days after the first.

Passing by after a day up in the Daintree and come across “Hook a Barra” pulled in, paid for a 1hr fish, and was the best experience. Caught 5 Barra and lost many more. Great staff who are very friendly and present a great introduction.

Very impressed.

5/5 stars, I recommend that you do the farm and fishing tour for this establishment. You will learn how they keep the Barramundi in good condition and ready to put up a fight once you get them hooked! Not only that you’ll get to try a beautiful prepared assortment of freshly made offerings with the fish kept at the farm! We had beautifully prepared spring rolls, crunchy and hot! Some lovely sashimi which was our favourite! And some tasty dip!
If you’re going to spend a significant amount of time fishing then slap on some SPF 50+

Our tour was lead by Steve who is a top bloke who took us around and showed us some of the owners personal pets (the trophy fish/rare varieties) and as someone who doesn’t know much about fishing he was a great instructor on casting. By the end of the tour I was casting like I knew what I was doing thanks Steve! Now I will mention there is a cheeky man called Simon who also does tours and he will try to confuse you (yes Simon I’m sure you’re fantastic too)
Steve is a superb tour guide and has experience with the cheffing trade so having an input of a chef when discussing flavour of the Barramundi was very important, if the business wants to branch out on culinary discussions then Steve has the background to do it. Recommendations on well mixed flavours of Barramundi is welcome! He was correct when he said it is near impossible to tell the difference between the wild and this product, that’s how well they take care of these fish. The Quality assurance unkept by Our guide was immaculate in ensuring the barramundis health was at the top of the list.
We tried the sashimi it was hard to tell what comes from the wild and these beauties at the farm which are farmed in water straight from the Daintree! The farm tour showing how the water is naturally filtrated shows you what nature can do to give you this fantastic specimen of Barramundi!
The future plans this establishment has were that of an efficient and forward thinking business and I hope it works out for them!
The scenery is beautiful and the surroundings just bliss!

The fish are so good we saw an eagle swoop in and catch one which was unfortunate but also.majestic.

Thank you to the team at Hook-a-Barra! Was a brilliant part of the trip up here!

Ps I wish the tasting platter had fish and chips included and grilled fish, like small pieces. I noticed the one we had was different to ones I’ve seen posted in the past. That’s my only feedback

What an amazing experience. This time I came with the family, but I definitely have to return by myself and spend some more time chasing the "big monsters". The kids loved it, and we all had the chance of fighting a barra. Oh.and the food was just so tasty and fresh.

Great fist time experience with the guided farm tour, tasting plate and 1 hour fishing. We had a blast and life time memories.
So good we went back 3 days later but were only allowed to fish in the big boys pond. Partner didn't get a single hit, I dropped my goal 1 meter barra due to a knot failure, yep it simply untied which was heartbreaking. Hooked another but it too escaped. Overall we both left pretty empty and disappointed with a 1 hr 40 trip each way.
