Hervey Bay Visitor Information Centre reviews
49Great 48hr stop over with the caravan. It does get busy in the afternoon and at night you might find it hard to find a spot to park in the bay as there is limited spots. Clean, fairly quite too. Has seating area, an a dump point.
This is also a free camp spot
You must have a toilet and shower if you come here.
We weren’t advised that it was this big of a deal if we weren’t self-contained (we have a camping-car).
You need to have a permit and get it before the desk close at 5.
When we arrived, there was already 4 caravans that took the whole space in the middle of the authorized parking for free camp.
The space has 4-5 lanes max, but it is very long, so that people could charge a lane and park at least 2 in one lane.
Unfortunately, the caravans are park here but they also park their car behind it (instead of taking a regular car parking just in front)!
So they take to full lane, and no place left for other people.
We tried to shared a lane, and we were having a calm dinner when a car entered the parking and both started screaming at us that they were calling the police because we were in their spot (lol, it is a free camp right?).
Not even able to speak normally to us, just agressive all the way. Even the caravans couple next to us came out and joined them saying we couldn’t be there.
Not surprised they close free camp when I see crazy people like this …
They looks like permanent residents and seems to think they have all the spots reserved to themself.
Some Employees drove by at this tine, hearing the shouting maybe, and told us to park along the fence instead, that they didn’t mind.
So people, stay out of the center parking if you don’t want to get aggressors but those crazy people!
Not very friendly. Can’t get to dump point as campers took up all the room, not very considerate at all.
Staff were amazing. I was so impressed with the knowledge and friendliness of the staff. A huge thank you to the volunteers who give so freely of their time, you are legends
Staff here were excellent very helpful with a trip across to Fraser Island was able to organise all here. Local knowledge was amazing. Easy to find and park. Toilets here were clean.
Very good, friendly service.

Great help, thanks ladies!
There are bathrooms here if you need. Open to public. Clean and accessible.
Very helpful.been to Hervey Bay and Fraser Island previously so wanted new places to see. Burrum Heads and Toogoom
Very helpful staff, thank you to the lovely lady who recommended Goodys for lunch, superb and doggies are allowed
Incredible service. Unsure of the name of woman who helped us out but her suggestions have made our next few days spectacular. Originally went in to book a day tour to Fraser Island. She waited for (and helped) us to book accommodation nearby the tour transfers, gave restaurant recommendations and stops along our journey. Really lovely and passionate. This stop is well worth while for anyone in the area.
Stayed here out the back not too noisy but is a cut through for people who don't like the roundabout?
Excellent! The staff are super helpful - lots of info available and really nice merchandise to purchase
The two ladies there were very pleasant and helpful with planning our last minute trip to Fraser Island, thanks so much
Has a DUMP POINT, lots of great information, maps, books etc inside, toilets.
Downside; Has about 4 spots for 48hr FREE CAMP but the spaces are so tight and not long enough.
Located right next to stinky DP (DUMP POINT). So much room around the area that vould have been utilised. Councils need to stop lining their pockets and planning better for the people. Its aparently a tourist town with the very little to offer for caravanners or big rigs, 5th wheelers. Come on Councils.better planning please.
Karen was exceptional. Very friendly and welcoming providing lots of help and advice without hovering pestering. Than you.
Great Information building with lots of brochures. DEE, SUSAN and KAREN definitely know the area and beyond travel destinations. All 3 of them are very lovely, pleasant staff.
