Go Ride a Wave - Broadbeach

The best surf school in the Gold Coast. Don’t go anywhere else.

I had my second surf lesson today with Blake, a private lesson this time. The last one was 12 years ago and I am now in my fifties, with age and other related injuries, including to my right hip and right shoulder.

Blake was awesome. He’s a true blue Aussie surfer, with many years teaching surfing to top off his own surfing experience. He also surfs with injuries and he helped me find the best way for me to stand up without pain. He also gave me great tips on how to stay safe in the water including how to walk through big waves, how to dive under the even bigger waves, and how to stay safe once on the surfboard through big surf.

I also stood up almost every time! I am going back tomorrow for another private lesson with Blake, and this time my husband is joining me. I felt so amazing being able to surf at my age, and I have to thank Blake for that.

I think I broke my little toe in one of my tumbles, but it’s strapped up and I am ready to go. Nothing a couple of Panadol won’t fix. I don’t want to wait another ten years for my surfing career to take off.

These are great instructors with great beginner boards. Definitely use this surf school.

Both coaches are very concerned about everyone's situation and try to help everyone stand on the wave (although I am too talented and stupid to be able to do it)

I've never surfed before and the instructor explained everything in a way that made it easy to learn. I was standing up on the board by the end of the lesson, fell off a lot and probably looked goofy but I was wrapped. I will definitely try surfing more.

Amazing class! It was my first time surfing and I really got to know the movements and some other knowledge on how to be safe at the sea. Denis was really kind and supportive:)

Great staff to work with and they run a terrific outfit and always a pleasure dealing with them all at every level including the trainers.

I recently took a surfing class with Damian and had an amazing experience! Damian was a great instructor who made the class both informative and fun. He was incredibly personable and made sure to pay attention to every student's needs (there were 5 of us - adults), ensuring that we all felt comfortable and confident while riding the waves. Damian was also very accommodating, taking the time to provide individual attention and advice to each of us. Overall, I highly recommend this surfing class and especially Damian as an instructor. Thanks for an unforgettable experience!

Dennis was a wonderful surf instructor for our girls. He was patient and really showed them some great skills. They are now in love with surfing!

We had a really fun surf lesson with Jason at broadbeach. There were two of us and we have never surfed, he explained everything and made it enjoyable. We both managed to stand up on a few waves and with more time we would have smashed it. Really recommend.

We just finished our lesson with the guys at Broadbeach this morning. It seriously was the best time - even with a belly and nose full of water! The guys were super supportive and friendly and EVERYONE got up on the boards - even if it was briefly! Thanks guys!

I organised for my two grandsons to have their first surfing lesson. They are 8 and 6 years old and they both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Lara spent a lot of time with them as it was quite rough but they both managed to stand up (briefly). Wonderful Christmas holiday activity!

Jonny is a pretty great coach!
He let all of the students stand on the board within two hours. He also taught us how to be safe in the ocean which is quite important!

If I visit Gold coast again, I will must have the lesson again!

Had 3 lessons here, went from standing the first time to cutting down a wave and turning by the third. Thanks a heap to Blake - great teacher. Will be back for more lessons:)

Sam was awesome! Really encouraging and made sure the lesson was as fun as possible. Super easy going and really friendly. Will reccomend to any one going to the Gold Coast:)

Its been a life long dream to take a surf lesson and the instructor Simon was the perfect dude to help me out. Its rare to have someone with so much experience whilst still being down to earth and teach at my pace. Would definitely recommend!

Will was a great instructor. He took time to cater to the different skill levels of our family and conducted the session in a fun and informative way!

Had a great time on Broadbeach with my wife and I trying to surf for the first time. Liam and Colby were great instructors, kept it light-hearted and were easy to follow during the 2 hour group lesson. It was well structured, enjoyable, great value for money and I managed to stand up a couple of times which was awesome. We both thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend. Awesome trainers and awesome experience overall! I had never surfed before, and Jason, Liam and Blake from Go Ride A Wave at Broadbeach showed me all the techniques and tricks that it takes to have fun riding the waves. Initially I had booked three lessons, but extended to five since the input and experience was so good and the team helped me improve continuously. I would recommend Jason, Liam and Blake to anyone interested in learning to surf, whether child, teenager or adult. Thank you very much, guys!

So glad we chose to book our boys into the Go Ride a Wave surf lesson on Broadbeach this week. Our instructor (Liam) was friendly and made the lesson fun, informative and practical for the boys. He prepped them well before entering the water and provided them with ongoing support throughout the lesson. They absolutely loved their surfing lesson and came away with a new found passion for surfing. This was largely down to Liam and his awesome teaching. Well worth booking!
