Gallery of Modern Art reviews
89 Just worth the experience. Kids love it. Not as amazing as international level modern art Galleries but is still recommend seeing this place in person.
Only Downside to this place is that cafes and restaurants close early so you will need to go to Southbank or somewhere else for dinner if you come later in the afternoon.
Fabulous exhibitions always. The Fairy adventure turned out to be very very engaging.even for an adult!
Love this place. Really clever people doing extraordinary things for all visitors. Always something happening & so many beaut spaces.
The museum consists of wall paintings and archaeological collectibles only. Unfortunately, the Marvel dolls no longer exist. Note: Entry for an adult is 16 Australian dollars.
The gallery had an extensive collection of Aboriginal art, which, while impressive, overshadowed other genres. I hoped for a more diverse representation. The ambiance was pleasant, but a more balanced curation would enhance the experience.
Love going to museums but this one is unfortunately the most boring one I have ever been to in my life. The free area is almost empty and not much to see.
Beautiful building, but the "art" is not innovative, creative or meaningful. There's hardly any paintings or any other art within the gallery so it's a very boring & uninspiring experience. It's a huge embarassment.
Viewed the Gone Fishing exhibit on Level 3. Lots of beautiful, interesting, thought provoking pieces. Would definitely recommend.
Disappointed, arts on display isn't art, it's pushing towards political ideology. Art unites people and cultures not pulling people apart from one another.
Always the most interesting and amazing art. Staff are so friendly. One of my favourite places in Brisbane.
Interesting art, sculptures and exhibits Well spaced out and well lit. Always enjoy my visits. Coffee shops ok but not great
The gallery was not difficult to find. Very helpful and polite staff. It was a great day out. Learnt lots of things about the masters. Very informative. The paintings were absolutely beautiful.
I'm sure this place would be great fun when making re exhibitions are open, as the ones we saw were very interesting, however today the vast majority of exhibitions were shut without notice. As a result, we left just 15 minutes after arriving and were quite disappointed.
Unfortunately, too long a line (2 hours+) for a visit to the master's of European art exhibition.would have been nice.but covid and other issues, made it difficult. Cafe's need to be checked out carefully as not all are affordable or good.
Terrible organisation from the Gallery of Modern Art. We have tried to visit the European Masterpieces twice now. Have gotten here one hour before opening time, and our estimated times were 3h during the first visit, and 4h during the second visit. It makes me wonder how capable the organisers are. With Covid, many places give you the option to book at specific times, based on the number of people that come in. This avoids having to wait hours a ridiculous amount of hours in the sun. Clearly, they were too lazy to actual create such a system to make it easier on people. Saddening, but will never join such an event during Covid times in the Gallery.
We rang QTix and unfortunately they have no say in how the event is organised. What I know is that the Gallery opted for this ridiculous system where you can just show up whenever and wait for hours before you can get in. Have a little respect for your customers. It's a joke!
As I write this, we are still waiting for our turn. Hoping to get in before 1PM!
An excellent public space is available around the building and the gallery always has one feature exhibition happening as well as many other really good quality artists featured. There is a great child specific area where they can attend art and craft activities. This is not child minding service but a place where parents and children are able to interact creatively and access the art supplies to enjoy creating together. There are eating areas in the surrounds of the complex and one inside the building. There are also theatres and a book shop in the building.
Always an eclectic display of modern or primitive art. The temperature is always 22c and is a shock to enter on a hot day like today.
Fascinating to witness medieval European paintings, had to queue up for 2 hours on last day of exhibition but it was worth it. Informative and entertaining.
Although there were many people waiting to see the exhibition the staff were kind and solicitous, particularly as I was using a walker. We were given the opportunity to engage with an audio tour which enhanced our viewing tremendously. Great value for money. An extremely enjoyable, memorial, experience
Interesting experience of modern art and cultures of various countries, lots of new learnings for us. Cannot say the gallery is huge but still worth a visit to spend couple of hours browsing the exhibits and reading various information.
