Empire Alternacade and Events - Townsville

Bloody awesome bar. Full of pinball machines plus a range of other games including pool tables and a selection of board games, plus video games So.if you love pinballs, this place is a must visit when in Townsville. 10 out of 10 for me

Love the drinks and the vibe. They really do put in so much effort to maintain all of the games and machines. The staff are full of character. Perfect date spot for your big tiddie goth gf.

Cool place to hang with mates & have a drink. Definitely if you're into your retro gaming.
It feels like that mate's basement from school who did nothing but play games in it.and just as sticky too
Didn't have anything to eat, so I couldn't possibly rate it. Hence the no stars

Got busy at one point and the sole bar tender couldn't make drinks quick enough.
But otherwise, will definitely visit again next time I'm in town.

Wonderful experience here! We’ve been there twice now and had a great time both visits. The last time we went, it was a very busy night, but when we had an issue with one of the machines, the manager came over and fixed it immediately. The bar staff were extremely friendly and made very good recommendations for drinks.

I went recently and I do have a thing or two to say;
It’s definitely giving the gamer kid vibe to it and is very cool inside, though, if you want to play Guitar Hero you won’t be able to hear the song as there’s constant alternative music blasting through the speakers. Some of the games would require $1 or $2 coins, but some took 3 or 4 $1 coins which felt like a scam. A pinball machine my partner wanted to play only had 1 flipper for a while until another mate of ours used it. Cocktails are really cool and different though I will say. Staff came off a bit tense and a bit passive aggressive the night I went as well. I think if you’re a person who loves old games and nostalgia this would be a great place for you, but there were some things that were less than to be desired.

Great atmosphere, great drinks, and mint condition pinnies! Pinball tournaments every month are great fun too!

Great little bar with cool pinball games, Xbox games and pool tables. Cool cocktail list and awesome little atmosphere.

Love Empire Arcade, great atmosphere, excellent drinks and good fun.
They seem to gave an endless range of ideas for theme events and different types of fun. That doesn't include the heaps of fun had on the pinball machine and games machines.
I look forward to going back each time

Great place for the alternate scene! Music is heavy and good. Games all work and there are free options too. There is also a wide selection of drinks at reasonable prices.

Great nerd bar that have a selection of interesting drinks. There's tonnes of games, machines and pool tables etc.

Drinks were nice. Overall ambience of it was great. You definetley get hit with a sense of nostalgia playing the old games.

Venue nice. Left with a awful perception of this this place after I witnessed a staff member (Ayvah) acting unprofessionally and appallingly towards a patron here. So much so that 4 people immediately left the venue after the incident and
will not be offering their custom here nor recommending this business to anyone whilst this staffer corrodes the happy nature of Empire.
I strongly advise the management of this venue to reprimand/remove the staff member to ensure that other patrons aren’t subjected to her inexcusable and pathetic behaviour.

I love this place, however my partner is disabled and there is no wheelchair access to the venue. I know it is hard for a building, however with the popularity of the place, I'd love the opportunity to be able to take my partner as he has never been and loves the type of theme the venue has.

Amazing people, incredible drinks, hectic atmosphere and pinball machine you cannot stop playing

Empire is a both a great bar and a great arcade. They have an assortment of great board games and have time crisis 2 and 3 which are amazing. The cocktails are fun and enjoyable and i would reccomend getting cranberry juice with limes. The bartenders were also very skilled and nice. My only critiques is that they needed a bouncer to get rid of the really rowdy customers and that some smoother music could be played, like jazz rather than heavy metal.

If you're looking for a modern-alternative bar in Townsville, this is the place to go. With constantly changing special cocktail menu you are sure to find something perfect for you and for your instagram! Highly recommended if you are into video games/board games and classic arcade games.

Good vibes, brings a variety of crowds, service and security is on point. Would be nice if it features function rooms for small groups. But space is limited.

Fun night out for those of us who are old enough to remember what socialising before mobile phones and social media were a thing.

Maybe I'm not the exact clientele but a significant amount of the music sounded like screamo and I didn't appreciate it
