ELK Espresso

Went for the boozy brunch for a friends birthday, staff were instantly unhappy with our presence as we arrived with a group of 11 however what are we to do if you can’t book in advance. Whilst waiting for the last 2 members of the group we browsed the breakfast menu and were pretty unimpressed with the options, it was very limited. The staff came over twice in that time and we explained we were still waiting for two people but ordered some coffees, we also asked the first time they came if they had a lunch menu or something along the lines of that and explained that the lunch menu did not start till 12, around this time it was about 11: 15am. Then the second time they came over we were still waiting for the other people and a staff member very rudely told us “you can’t just sit here and wait till 12 to get the lunch menu you’ll have to leave the table and come back” which by no means we were doing we were waiting for the two friends as we had said. After they arrived we ordered and found that in order to do the boozy brunch everyone at the table must be doing it which was not advertised when we had looked online and caused an issue as some chose to drive and not drink. Staff agreed to make an exception to two of the people and proceeded with ordering. Drinks were very slow to arrive and for a session of only an hour it felt like abit of a piss take, we started asking for just afew glasses of each variety for the table with which the waiter reply’s “you want 5 of each? ” And we said yes “but there’s 13 of you” we said yes then she walked away and another staff member came and informed us she would bring 10 over. I mean it’s a bottomless brunch? At that rate it had been half an hour and we’d had about 2 drinks, felt like they were stringing us along.the waiters as well were very reluctant to come to our table, even while we were visibly waving them down. The very limited food menu was at best average, and for the icing on top of the cake, one of the girls had ordered an espresso martini before the last 2 people arrived, this arrived to the table well into the brunch and genuinely tasted of soy sauce. I’m not sure if the workers were so annoyed with us they put soy sauce in the drink or just make the drink with some very weird ingredients, either way I do not recommend this place whatsoever. I write this as a customer service worker as well as majority of our group that was there that day, the staff are appalling, for the love of god do not go to this place.

The food was okay, but not all the waitresses. Spent time there roughly from 10: 15 to 11: 00 a.m. On November 25th. Two of the waitresses were checking us out from head to toe with an unfriendly demeanour.

On top of that, the first waitress, who has fuchsia-ish hair with lots of hair clips on, guided us to our table inadvertently. The other waitress who has the lotus tattoo on her upper left arm, behaved weirdly when we kindly asked if she could help us take the finished dish away. Other employees we had interactions with were pretty nice tho.

No matter if the poor treatment without any decorum was because we are Asians or there were many customers, either case is not acceptable. Felt totally uncomfortable, mood ruined. Have some manners, please.

They are very busy with chatting each other.
You are said you are doing table service and you will come to serve, does it mean for us to bring the table to you guys?
Even though we called you guys, raised hands, or try to eye contact, nobody tried to see! I'm not sure why this place is so popular for foods, but it's their taste, so not gonna judge. But SERVICE is verrrry disappointed.

Really lovely coffee and cakes.
Banana bread was nice, the almond croissant was outstanding.
Have a dine in and takeaway restaurant for whatever needs.
Very reasonable prices and the staff provide excellent customer service.
Can’t wait to come back and dine in.

Jin Jin oc, Mashed potato balls with smoked three-flavored fish are very good, ten or even nine points delicious.

Delicious waffles! My husband enjoyed his potato hash with bacon. Wonderful service! It would be great if staff wore a uniform/T-shirt as they blended in with customers on a very busy day!

The service is fast and friendly, the food is fresh, and the taste is well processed. The aroma of coffee is very familiar, but I can't remember what it is at the moment.

The menu doesn’t clearly state if the sourdough is included with breakfast (eggs and bacon choice) and so by the time it came out it was too late.
Poached eggs on a micro amount of rocket didn’t really hit the spot for $22.

It’s also very loud inside on the weekend. Outside was very pleasant though.
Staff very responsive but a little vague i.e. Didn’t pick up on toast despite me asking for no butter with it.

My compliments to the 2 chefs who created the new menu. Wow! The flavours are amazing. It just works! Our fav was the home hock croquettes! This dish was.mmm so right! Try it!

Friendly staff, amazing food and drink. Coffee taste great. Never had a bad experience with this place. Always visit here whenever we go out to broadbeach ️

We loved the food here. Possibly the best breakfast ever! Such a treat to have a menu with different dietary options catered for and so much to choose from.

Visited Elk Espresso for a few coffees whilst down the coast for a holiday. Heard such great things from their reviews but were pretty disappointed with our visit.

Firstly, the location and vibe of the cafe was stunning. Just a minutes walk to the beach, and seating that overlooks the beautiful landscape! Unfortunately most of the parking is metered in the week. The staff that greeted us on arrival was really outgoing and friendly, however the girl taking our order seemed annoyed; being short and rushed with us. We didn’t really pay much mind, just a general observation. The service was really quick, the cafe definitely has their routines in check.

We ordered two iced vanilla lattes and an almond croissant. The croissant was so fresh- crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. We really enjoyed it. The coffees however were so sour, even the syrup couldn’t mask the taste. Usually we can look past it and just drink it, but we couldn’t even finish them. I didn’t want to bring it to the staffs attention as they seemed so rushed and busy, I knew it would be an inconvenience- so that’s on me! Would recommend timing the espresso pour to ensure all the coffees are consistent and smooth tasting.

Overall based on our experience (just trying coffees and a pastry) we probably wouldn’t be back if in the area, but hope our experience was just a one off and others enjoy their time here!

You guys did so well today!
The service was fabulous, the place was packed but the staff obvioisly work so well together! The wait wasn't nearly as long as we were expecting. The place looks fabulous as well. You guys are amazing!
