Dundees on the Waterfront reviews
40No surprise that Dundees was a very good venue. We probably venture there two or three times a year. The service was efficient and friendly, the food was up to its usual high standard. The noise inside can be a little off-putting on a busy night.
We were looking for a place that served Kangaroo and Crocodile as well as other local delicacies, this place does. Food was good, and service was too.
Great dining venue, right on waterfront and a range of selection available. Had the Yabbies and they were delicious. Bit pricy but good.
10/10
We had the seafood tower and it was absolutely delicious and fresh! Please come to Melbourne and show restaurants here how it’s done! Service was impeccable, wine list was amazing. Staff very efficient great job to management and owners for creating such an enjoyable experience! We will definitely recommend and will come right back to cairns just to come back to dundees!
Ordered sweet potato chips for my son, they didn’t come until we asked. The atmosphere was ‘rich’ and felt as though we weren’t good enough to eat there. I wouldn’t suggest taking a baby.
I had the mud crab slider, thinking there’s mud crabs everywhere this will be really nice and fresh for $20 one slider - bun was stale and it was just mushed up crab with sauce all over it.
Had oysters thinking the same thing - first oyster was bliss absolutely perfect. Other two were fishy
Just was not a good experience, sucked that I wanted to go there for a ‘treat’
Recommended by locals and a long standing local business in Cairns, we felt we needed to tick this one off on our trip. It was worth the visit. Good tasting food and lovely location on the waterfront. The barramundi was tasty and cooked well.
I drool whenever someone mentions the name of this place… we came for our honeymoon last year and was blown away that we had to come back a few nights later and then returned this year for our wedding anniversary and nearly had to roll ourselves out. The chefs are absolutely AMAZING! And the waiters are the most kind and happy people I have ever seen! A must do every time in cairns now!
Amazing, visited twice during our short stay.
We both had the Surf n Turf with Mash and agreed it was best we have ever had! The Chilli Mussles and Seafood Tower were also winners.
Fantastic meal - the best pasta we have ever had in our lives! Our waiter/manager Jake made the experience an 11/10, he was so attentive, kind and gave us great tips and hindsight with his experience in the reefs!
Had a great piece of Eye fillet on Honey Roasted Sweet Potato with Red Wine Jus. Service was good and view is excellent.
Visiting from Melbourne and came here for dinner on the first night.
The food was decent, bruschetta was under-toasted but the mango oysters were fresh and well flavoured.
The pork ribs were tasty and tender, the rack could have been a larger.
The side of chips were great however, coleslaw was extremely bland.

This place was recommended by a friend. We had Baby Barra and Yabbies and they are delicious. The sauce that came with the baby Barra was absolute devine, I wish I could recreate them at home. Meanwhile our partners ordered steak and it was average.
Tour Guides Australia held their Cairns Guides Christmas Party on Wednesday 8th December. The staff were very friendly, accommodating and professional. They were very attentative and looked after us without interuption or fussing too much. The food was delicious and so well presented. Hats off to the Chef. We themed and styled the table ourselves with Chelsea Rees taking care of the centre piece. I highly recommend this restaurant for small group gatherings or just to sample and satisfy your individual taste buds.
The chowder was really delicious. On the other hand, we had very high expectations of the "seafood tower" and was somewhat disappointed. It was not as generous in the amount of seafood on offer as I had hoped. The trio of dips was good but not great.
Service was reasonably prompt. Most of the servers were also really friendly and attentive.
The chocolate lava cake was definitely worth the wait, and we loved the idea of the 3-dimensional, visual dessert "menu".
The outside dinning area is beautiful. We ordered the spicy prawns spaghetti and the pork ribs. The portions are not huge but the quality of the food is great.
Amazing service from start to finish. Had the duck spring rolls and steak, was all cooked to perfection! Recommend highly if you want a spectacular dining experience. Will be back!
The food and cocktails were delicious, definitely going back. It’s a shame about the group of patrons throwing around f and c bomb that weren’t told to stop by staff though. Ruined the atmosphere
We had an amazing dinner. Steak was cooked to perfection, and the chips were amazing. Will definitely return. Worth mentioning that the large menu outside the restaurant, and the menu we were given at the table had a $3 difference in price for the item I got. Not a big deal, but still.
We had the beer battered fish and chips, not the most expensive food on the menu but you still expect a certain quality for a top restaurant. The chips were not edible as they were overcooked and the fish was really greasy! Poor quality, expensive food! Very disappointed.
We had an excellent lunch with great wine choices. The outlook is spectacular and staff are friendly and very obliging. We look forward to being able to continue dining here post December 18 proposed mandate.
