CQUniversity Brisbane

It is the most cheap University, they have sent me my offer letter in april 2023 and after that they defer my letter by two intakes firstly they change my intake from april toh November and the November to march 2024 and after all the documentation they just reject my addmission, cq university is such time waste for many students without any reason they are just asking for the documents and documents, i will not recommend you this University they most cheapest, they are many other better universities then. My professors are knowledgeable and profesional. I had such good experience of studying there. If you do the postgraduate degree, and you will be able to join the class with Dr Derek Brown who is a great professor.

Unfortunately, there were some receptionist staff who were working at Brisbane CQU school, were not trained well and knew nothing about the school information. They were not willing to help me to answer my questions which I was concerned. They ignored me.

No free speech or academic freedom. Apparently you cannot disagree with people identifying as aboriginal.

Disagreeing with any indigenous voice is banned at this university, you must agree with absolutely everything and anything they say.

Third class University, infact classless University. Very racist and rude staff members at the Rockhampton campus where I studied. I am not sure about the other campus but I can imagine. The international student officer used to show favouritism to some students and help them with tax lodgement and waive of their library fines.
While other students had to pay tax consultants for doing their tax and pay fines to the library which was unfair. I was failed by a professor who openly challenged me when he came to know that I was going to the Ombudsman. He said that I won't win with him. I was harshly marked even though my answers were correct and was given 1/2 marks instead of 1 and I was failed for just 2 marks. He even told my fellow students and other staff members and professors in front of me during a morning tea, that I had failed in his subject. There is no value for student privacy at this University. The professors are very unprofessional here except for a handful of good teachers. One of the student couldn't pass the IELTS but was able to pass the MBA. It's hard to explain but I call this favouritism. This University is an insult to the education system and just a medium to make business. One of my professor used to make fun of my Indian nationality in front of other students but I didn't react or complain as I had to pass his subject. Even after several years I am suffering from trauma and getting counselling after studying at this University. I was diagnosed with High blood pressure after I passed from the University and taking medication till date. University is supposed to be a respectful organisation where an individual can enrich their knowledge and be a better person. This place is a money making organisation. There is no safety for students here. When I was living on campus, I used to be teased for my nationality by the residential assistants who were supposed to help and guide the students. The residential college was badly managed. I was given a room next to the toilet while the American exchange students had better rooms even though I was paying twice the fees than domestic students and also paying heavy rent at the college. The food was not tasty as they advertise. It was mostly leftovers from previous days or burgers. There was a gang of students who used to harass me at the University to help them with assignments. When I refused they started threatening to defame me and physically assault me. I mentioned it to the then student advisor who said she can't help and also strictly told me not to escalate it and ignore the gang. How could I ignore the gang when they were always present at the Uni? ! The computer lab used to be used by members of this gang even though some of them were ex students. The security guards at this Uni are hopeless and don't care about the student safety. One of the above mentioned gang members was even a security guard at the University.
Further most of the staff were related to each other as family members at the University so there was a lot of conflict of interest as nepotism is heavily practised at this University.
There was also a soccer competition for the VC cup between the campuses in 2011 where the University wanted to win at any cost so they got in players who were no even students to play for the championship. Some of them were friends of the student advisor who got a free trip to Melbourne at the cost of the University. Some other students were deprived of the opportunity to participate in this competition especially organised for students. Thus Rockhampton campus won and badly beat all the other campus in the soccer completion. Infact they cheated the other campus and other students so you can imagine the credibility of this University. After several years they even sent an email to the alumni asking for donations as if the money they have is not enough!

P. S I have already emailed the official complaints department/ Governance and still waiting for their decision.

Went this university receptionist this morning, because I am starting this university first time from next week, trying to know few things about my student related questions. I was talking with one of the staff, she was good and trying to help me but, another girl came up and started to talk even I don’t need her.they have to help all the students, with their questions, be patience, don’t show your ego and attitude to students.please build up your skills to talk with students.don’t know how I gonna spent 3 years here.finally got all the solutions, of my questions but the experience I had this morning with reception was not acceptable thanks️️

Waste of money. Worst university in Australia hands down. Lacks good teachers and is poorly run.

I have adhd combined and anxiety disorder and it upsets me that statistically people are more inclined to offer feedback when theyre upset as opposed to satisfied. Giving a misleading impression to the public. So here i am.upset.i dont appreciate people unleashig yheir own personal dissatisfaction and impose their issues to the world. Im EXTREMELY satisfied with cqu. Though there were a couple of bad apples, those bad apples are in EVERY group of EVERY demographic. The relevant staff to my case are amazing and they take my concerns seriously and the disability plan is wonderful! I am grateful for theyre working with me around my barriers. THANK YOU CQU and keep it up!

I do not reccomend this university, my experience is with the online bachelor of nursing.

There were mistakes and errors made throughout the content of the Anatomy and physiology subjects. Not just 1 term but 2 terms in a row it was not fixed. The first term had a cheat sheet, which the uni said it was for a trial but i had a fellow student confirm it wasnt because they stuffed up the content and all of a suddeden gave a cheat sheet because so many students complained, same thing happened in my term (the term after) we found so many errors the night before the exam and by that point it was too late, we didnt get a cheat sheet, they didnt budge on any compensation for their errors, but i still had to pay for a subject that was not delivered fairly and factual and now repeat so it is costing alot of money, no matter how many valid points i made and tried to fight my case they simply did not care and did not consider their part in all of this. It was just damage control from the previouse term.
I would recommend finding a uni that has their subjects in order and is organised and fairly delivered, not like this one that is set up for failure and causes people to spend more money.

My wife study in cq uni.and she called to ask how to book graduation ceremony and the guy who pick up the call told us to hang up cos we call 10 min before they close seriously guys then why u put ur opening timing till 5 pm change it to 4: 50 if dont want to help students.pathetic service for which u charge thousand of dollars

If you wish to study Nursing, I would highly recommend that you choose a different University. The University has no ability to get suitable placements for students, and when they provide placements, the facilities pull out. This is reflective of insitualised poor quality, poor negotiation abilities and chronic chaotic management - which is The School of Nursing. CQUni changed the course program after being accredited from the Nursing and Midwifery board. This resulted in students receiving new study plans that were incorrect and were to the financial incentive of the institution. The Governance Department will not help and the Student Ombudsman will provide minimal assistance. Senior lecturers made promises in writing and then reverted their promises - which was of determent to my entire study program and many other students. The language used in emails from 'professionals' within the university is amusing, and is reflective of the quality of the individuals that are employed within the University. If you wish to study at a university where every semester minimal communication is provided to you, outrageous demand emails are sent your account, and administration attitude is of a laissez faire style is adapted - CQU is for you.

The website gives no details on what you can actually study. Schools are listed, but not majors, courses or subjects. How on earth are you supposed to find if this university teaches what *you* want to learn, to decide if it's right for you? Seems to be a huge gamble to take if you live overseas.

Overall, not a very helpful website.

I wonder where those 5 stars reviews coming from? ! Without any comments! Are they fake? ! This university is the worst university ever in all aspects.

CQU pretty much makes me feel like I'm in another country attending university, such as India or Pakistan as I'm a minority being a white Australian. Anyway aside from that fact which is easily forgivable if the teaching was any good (it is not) or the courses actually have great equipment (they do not) but alas, this is not the case.

I've had the unfortunate experience of attending this university and they run this like a puppy mill, borderline illegal with zero care for anything or anyone involved. If there is a problem, it is never resolved. Even if taken right to the top, every single step of the way is obvious, they just cover up their mistakes for each one of their staff members and teachers. I have never EVER had such a poor teaching experience in my life, so much I'm not even sure how CQU is classified as a university? I've had better experiences at private colleges.

Safe to say, unless you are purely an international student looking for a visa as this is a cheap university (for international standards for fees) give CQU a miss, not only a miss, I'd advise the widest berth possible.

The only exception would be the nursing department as they seem lovely and caring and had the privileged of doing one subject through there and was very supportive and a pleasure to deal with.
