Google saying closed, actually they are open during school holiday, great place for kids having fun. Price is very reasonable.

Love this place. Cheap, friendly. Fun. Seating and tables are limited so get into the sessions early.

Old school skating. Probably hasn't changed since the 80s aside from a few choice 90s tracks on the wireless.

Quality has gone massively downhill in the last 6 months. Music has gone from diverse and intense to "lowest common denominator" mellow stuff more fitting of a beachside bar than a skating rink. Who goes to a skating rink to quietly vibe? People come here to enjoy themselves and go faster than they should.
Not only that but the games now take far longer than they used to and leave dozens of skaters waiting boredly on the sidelines, including myself.
The atmosphere is bored and plain, and even the kids don't look like they're having as much fun - normally you see them racing around and playing tag, or cheering their friends on for the games. Now they just kind of skate around, talking and occasionally messing around.
I have been a customer at the rink for almost 4 years now, and in my prime was going every single week. This is the saddest and most dreary I have ever seen it, and I hope it gets better because my last session did not make me want to come back, and I miss the rink that made me excited, and actually enjoy myself.

Great place for the kids to have loads of fun. Staff are friendly, the place is clean and well priced. Kids are now onto me to take them every week!

The skating rink was good. The surface was smooth. The children had fun. They had both inline skates and old school skates to use. The skate were not new but suitable. The snack bar was minimal. The seating area was table and benches. Only issues I have was that there is no air conditioning so in the summer in cairns it can get warm. There is large fans to help which is quite good. Overall the place is nice and fun to skate at. We will be going again.

Great facility for small town Cairns even if rustic in nature. Mostly friendly though has had its moments. Ice could be better maintained at times - gets a bit lumpy round the edges, due in part to the beginners hanging out there but then that is exactly why it should be cared for better - tough to learn and feel good about where you are going when it is the ice that is the problem and not you, but you do not know that. Tough also for those helping beginners when they would rather be concentrating on helping than worrying about tripping on the ice and disrupting other beginners.

Absolutely love this place, I go here on the weekends with my friends as often as possible. We love the staff and the environment because it's just so friendly.

The Cairns Skating Centre used to be a staple in Cairns culture, providing a safe and fun place for people of all ages to hang out and spend their weekends. Unfortunately, due to poor management and untrained staff this establishment has been reduced to a shell of its former self. The establishment is unmanaged and in poor condition. The roof frequently has chunks fall onto the rink surface; the tables are always dirty and sticky; the rink surface has many crevices and other small chunks missing; the skates are in poor repair and are falling apart. The staff working on sessions are clearly untrained and cannot perform first aid. The staff are also constantly distracted by friends or their personal devices (i.e. Phone). The manager is often rude to customers as well as his own staff. I am sad to leave such a negative review of this establishment as I used to have so much fun when I was younger here. However to leave a positive review would simply be a lie.

Haven't skated for 30yrs, brought back the fun. Had a kids party there and was supported by staff. Lots of fun. Only aircon could have made it better.

A little hot in summer, but a great way to exercise and spend time with the kids.
Plenty of skates to hire and a shop to purchase your own if you wanted.

Was talking to a staff member who said they'd been offered air conditioning with just installation costs but were concerned about running costs - solar panels on the massive roof would solve the issues.

It's our only rink so we have to take what we get. But. Wow, these guys really come across as they don't care. The food is microwaved. The rink works though so have at it! Remember no air con though. Hire equipment is pretty bad suggest you bring your own

We booked the party section a month and half in advance with a deposit, turned up to the venue with another party group in the same section who had 4 tables with our group on the side having one table. When hiring I was shown a photo of the entire space as what I was booking. We were told today that 2 other parties on top of 3 already booked had booked today (day of party) and they don't turn down bookings. It was not an ideal way to set up a party with no situated area until they gave us an outside area that had to be set up during the party time as the prep time was spent organising and moving stuff around. The chairs in the other area were broken and the area was dirty but there was nothing to be done about it because of the time frame. Other than not providing a ready space as promised when receiving our booking, and the time cutting into the 2hr party it was a reasonable venue and the party turned out well.
