BTC Self-Defence & Martial Arts

Financial hardship means nothing to this place. They’ll milk you dry. All about the money, not about the students. Instructors even complain how much the owners of this place hinders them. Worst. Do NOT sign up.

I have traveled much of my life for work and so have trained at many clubs around the world, and the instructors and team at bma are amazing. Everyone has been friendly and welcoming, the instructors are passionate and knowledgeable and the front desk team are great.

I've trained here for three years and it really is an awesome dojo. The club community is welcoming with lots of great people. The senior belts are always keen to help out beginners and share their knowledge. Master Chris and the other trainers are easy-going and always helpful and motivating.

My children have been going to BTC for about 10 years. The confidence, discipline, skills and enjoyment they have gained from the club is invaluable. I would highly recommend it to people of all ages to try.

Do not recommend, read all the bad reviews about 12 month contracts and grading fees on top of that. The taekwondo trainers are very rude and abusive too. There are other clubs around, please do you research and do not believe paid for fake positive reviews.

Self defence has always been on my list of must do things and this year I finally got started. Master Tim is great, really knowledgeable and has a laugh too.

The entire staff do a really amazing job. We love bringing our daughters and they have learned so much already. The holiday anti bully workshop was excellent for the girls too.

The girl at reception was unknowledgeable about the classes on offer or the school. Shame because the bjj teacher wasn't that bad. Advertised classes on Saturday and the studio wasn't open, not a great look.

Highly unethical. This place is primarily after your money and they will use there kind front to make you sign up and then the mask comes off. Lets talk about the classes, every class i went to the instructor was always (ALWAYS) late (15-20 mins late), there was no structure and it was poorly managed. Secondly I was eligible to cancel my contract due to moving location. I asked for a copy of the contract which they said was emailed to me at the start (I checked every inbox, no contract was sent) when I asked for it to be emailed again they asked for a $12 fee (How stupid.to email a contract). They ended up charging me more then $1000 to cancel my contract which now I feel I should get legal action towards this business. All i can say is that don't go here, its a bunch of clowns after your money thats all.

I started training with btc many years ago then moved away for work. I'm a bit older now but back again and loving it. You're never too old to start!

The best martial arts school in the area. Great atmosphere, very nice and dedicated trainers and excellent equipment and service. Highly recommended!

Ive recently looked into the costings for my 17yr old son and possibly myself. I've initially notified them Im disabled and have the inability to communicate via phone and to please provide information via email as to affordability. I have been a single father on disabilities since sustaining an injury in 2013.
They refused to provide the information without me first takng their despite knowing all of the above then flatout ignored me!

I have been attending Krav Maga classes here for the past 3 months. The instructors and the senior students are probably some of the best people by far I have trained with, I have been with another school and this one is by far the best so far. They are very knowledgeable and humble people. Most importantly there always an instructor there. It is a great place to learn and each class is awesome.

The other Masters at BTC along with the staff a really friendly and super helpful. I recommend BTC even if you are not interested in Krav Maga, they have plenty to offer and plenty to teach. Definitely recommend and if I could give these guys a higher review I would.

I also have had the advertising material banned from distribution at our school. //very dodgy money grubbing, shouted at my child and threatened me with phsical harm and had one of their goons try and heavy me for the money.we had their advertising banned at our local school

Just started with Krav Maga after doing another martial art here for the past few years. Loving once again how friendly and helpful everyone is.

Been training for several weeks now and have really enjoyed my experience, great group of people and friendly staff. I was inspired to leave a review after reading some of the negative ones which can be summarised as 'I didn't listen to what I was told' or 'I didn't read the agreement I entered into'. Of course do both of these things and you will have a great experience, they also need to be commended for appropriately following COVID restrictions unlike other gyms that I am aware of in the area.

I had a very dodgy experience with this place.
They took a $25 fee for a ‘trial’ class for my 5yr old. The moment we showed up he was ‘given’ a $79 uniform (without any discussion of cost or if I wanted him dressed up). Then I was told (for the first time) he was having a one-on-one class with the teacher and that I could not watch it. Apparently technically I wasn’t meant to be in the building! I explained I wasn’t comfortable with this (& my son clearly wasn’t either), and the response was “Ok, he can take off the uniform then”. That was it!
No explanation, no understanding that a mother is not going to leave their 5yr old after being ‘groomed’ in a uniform unattended with a complete stranger.
I have been trying to get my $25 back for the trial class without any luck thus far. I am still trying.

Dodgy and gave me and my 5yr old son the creeps.

I started class with Krav Maga Brisbane to lose weight and get fitter and haven't stopped sweating since. Definitely the most fun way to get fit and learn self defence.

My kids do a lot of activities but btc is definitely their favourite. Both started from a very young age and have gone through the different classes and belt levels and they both totally love it. The Instructors are really caring and supportive and teach the kids not just about physical self defence but focus, respect and all the other things that are for me as a parent a really important part of martial arts (they just want fun ;).

Great instructors their very friendly and helpful.but the owners are greedy and deceiving, they will charge you over christmas holidays when the building is closed, and you can't even attend classes. The joining fee and weekly fee is expensive then you have to pay extra for grading and guards and the contracts are lock in and you cannot cancel it. READ THE CONTRACT BEFORE SIGNING.don't make the same mistake I did I would definitely not reccomend this dojo to anybody there's plenty of better taekwondo and martial arts dojos in the area.
