I came in for a treatment on my lower back on Wednesday 24/01/2024. The procedure was carried out by Dr. Jim O'callaghan and Dr. Brendon Moore both of whom greeted me prior to the procedure, and explained everything to me in terms that I requested so as I could understand what was going to happen. As usual they were both very professional, made me feel really comfortable and relaxed and made sure that I understood everything before they went off to get organised. I have nothing but the highest respect and praise for these two Doctors whom I have been seeing now for some 23yrs.and 16yrs.respectively.
Now I would like to give a huge thank you to all the Nurse's, who are always really happy and helpful. They all work together like a well oiled machine. If a Nurse is cleaning up a bed and equipment and another Nurse isn't doing anything at the time, without a word she'll go straight over and help. All the Nurse's remember me by name as soon as they see me and they all make me feel like I am part of their family. I almost don't want to go home they treat me and all the other patients so well.
So once again I want to say the biggest heart felt thank you to the Doctors and Nurses, you are awesome 10 out of 10.
Cheers. Dave.

Some areas of the hospital were quite run down and in need of attention. However what you want/need in a hospital more than anything are great staff……I was in for shoulder surgery recently and I must say that the nursing staff were fantastic…. In particular, Jo. She was on the 7pm to 7am shift. I required quite a lot of assistance during my stay, and not once did she look flustered, stressed or tired. Quite the opposite in fact. Always smiling and clearly a genuinely caring person. ALL the nursing staff were terrific in fact. Very impressed and of the opinion that they deserve far better pay and conditions than what they currently receive.

While the nursing staff and drs are absolutely fantastic caring amazing people there kitchen staff all need to be sacked in tge 2 weeks I was there they did not get 1 meal right which was extremely frustrating as I have a limited diet so I had to get my husband to bring me in meals. So I don’t know why they give you a menu because they clearly don’t care what you order

BPH 3YO overnight stay tonsil/adenoidectomy
and grommets.
Firstly I was not called by the hospital to confirm admission 48 hrs prior to admission, as I was informed by the hospital when they receipted my admission forms, that I would be. I had some acute health concerns so I called them the day before but was told to be patient, someone will call me. They did not. This was already a stressful start but I remained hopeful that it was just a one off curb ball and not to worry.
Secondly the kitchen gave me the regular menu card to fill in for my son despite me clearly stating food intolerances in the admission paperwork. I also stated my child has a hypoplasia condition on his teeth where enamel didn't develop. During pre-op stay, I was asked by a Nurse if my child didn't like having his teeth brushed. I felt this was unprofessional, offensive and incompetent. I again chose to brush (pardon the pun) it off and get on with the day.
Fast forward to surgery. The hospital rings me, to come to my child in recovery but when I get there, I see a very distraught little girl who is obviously not my child. Clearly only obvious to me however, as I am pushed towards her when I hesitated. I had to repeat twice, This is not my child.
I am feeling very stressed out by now, as the Nurse told me on the phone how distressed my child was and now I didn't know if he was actually alright or distraught/screaming himself somewhere, with a strange and very confused woman looking at him, like I was with that poor little girl?

Later I am told by our Nurse, via the pharmacy, that they don't stock children's osmolax (OTC stool softner), ultimately meaning they can't provide it for him. I let the nurse know that there is no difference between the adults and child osmolax other than the dose and that I really need it for my child. I am told by the day shift nurse that she will get back to me about it before shift change but she didn't and it's almost 10pm and still no news of where my sons required medication is.
When my son was ready to go to sleep for the night, I let the night shift Nurse know so she could hook him back up to the oxygen saturation monitor (for sleep apnea) now and she said she would be back to do it in 10 mins. 40mins later still no show from the Nurse. I had to track her down and ask her to do it again.
As it is our first time at BPH, I am unsure about a couple of other things that I think may help my son get some much needed sleep, like air con, lights and noise restriction timeframes from tablets/phones etc but am told by the nurse that doesn't know, she is new. I then need to ask her to find out for me please but she doesn't get back to me. I ask her again when she is in the ward again and finished with her patient and why she hasn't gotten back to me as its been hours. I am told by her that she is busy and has other patients.
Later, I ask her about what was happening with the Osmolax and she said I would need to talk to my doctor about it because although there is no difference between the osmolax versions, the pharmacy won't despense it. I said it was now late at night, I have no way of contacting Doctor and why wasn't I told that or offered an alternative? I am again told she has other patients. I no longer have any PATIENCE.
During our short stay here, I hear more horror stories, from 3 other parents of 3 other pediatric patients in here today/tonight and I mean horror stories. The specifics are theirs to share but these experiences include medication errors, patient mix ups, poor communication, missing meals and even the hospital attempting to over charge "Surgery Connect" patients for excess payments and am utterly convinced that people should have the opportunity to hear of these experience before they decide who to choose to trust their loved ones healthcare with.
All in all I do not recommend this hospital and if I saw these Nurses at another hospital that I went to, I wouldn't recommend going there, either.

BYO FOOD IF YOUR DIABETIC!
They have now idea about diabetic foods clearly not trained at all. Foods high in carbs and sugars. Best diet high protein good fats green leafy foods nil sugar foods nil frouctose. The food they served drove up bsl from 5.4 up to 18.7 in one meal, and tried to tell me is diabetic friendly, only if you want to die. Go see st Vincent’s private for a real hospital that cares about you and your health. If you have a death wish come here they will find a way to kill you!

I recently had a stay in Brisbane private hospital and I cannot say enough about how wonderful the treatment was from the nurses doctors, physiotherapist and all the staff at the hospital.

Ebony and Rebecca helped me through a day where I was not feeling very well and supported me for the rest of my time I was there. I will not forget their kindness.

Particularly i like to thank nurses Marivic, Maddy and Helen and trainee nurses Rose and Rin. For their kindness and care.

I will happily recommend The Brisbane Private Hospital to all.

Thank you.

I spent 4 days on the 3rd level neurosurgery ward after having spinal surgery. From admission to discharge the whole process was a breeze. The care I received from doctors, nurses and staff was amazing I can't thank them enough for all their care and efforts. The rooms were very comfortable, private and new, the meals provided were great. If I could give a higher star rating than 5 I would.thank you:)

I had a terrible experience at this hospital.
In the first recovery I waited an hour and a half after waking to be able to get to the next recovery, no water, help to the bathroom or pain meds given at that time.

For some reason all the nurses left for lunch break at the same time except for 1 nurse who was looking after 12-15 patients. Still in pain, still needing to go to the bathroom I couldn't catch the only nurse's attention.
I was sobbing and a patient asked me if I was okay before the nurse got to me.

At one point I asked to have the curtain closed so I could have some privacy to reposition my gown which had moved up to my belly, I was given paper towel to cover myself with and she walked off.

There is no time management, no organisation and no empathy at this hospital.
It was truly a concerning, humiliating and upsetting experience, and this is private too. My email was replied to with a with a very basic and prewritten response

Please don't come here, don't waste your money or risk your health for this place, it's not worth it

The surgical staff were outstanding. Being on the ward however was a different story. The night nurse staff were incredibly rude and unprofessional.
I had foot surgery and was left to fend for myself, not to mention the attitude. My medication was either never given to me or it was hours late. I was left in pain and told to deal with it. Absolutely disgusting the way they treat the patients. You pay for private treatment and I got worse than public. I couldn’t wait to get out of there.

My husband has been on rehab floor for 5 days. He called me at 10: 40 am crying in pain. I spoke to the nurse who told me that my husband was not due for pain relief for 4 more hours. I had to argue with the nurse to get him to call the doctor for more pain relief. Shocking. An hour and a half later I get to the hospital and find out that my husband has been given no pain relief. I find the nurse and he told me that he gave the order to the pharmacy. I told him to call the chemist NOW. Instead he got his supervisor. The supervisor insisted that my husband is not due for pain relief for 2 hours per the chart because the nurse did not update it. When the nurse explains, the supervisor said that he will call the chemist. He told.me to relax. I said No.it has been 1.5 hours and you people have done nothing. He told me they are not my servants and walked off. I called the pharmacy and they said that the nurse stuffed up and did not properly fax the chart until 5 minutes ago. I hunt down thenurse supervisor again and the pain relief is gien to me hisbad at 12: 45. It twi 2 hours and my making a big fuss to get him pain relief. The way the nurses ignored my husband crying in pain is shocking. NOT RECOMMENDED

Everyone was professional and sensitive about my needs. It was my first time to go through hospital procedure, general anesthesia, etc and it went smoothly from admission to discharge. I had a great experience.

Thanks to Dr. Couzens and the rest of the staff who were part of my carpal tunnel release surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Couzens.

Could not fault anything in this hospital. Spent one week in neurosurgery ward and one week in rehabilitation ward. Surgery with neurosurgeon Dr Winter went smoothly, with no after-surgery complications. Dr French, head of the rehabilitation ward attended each day and my pain was dealt with promptly and cheerfully, and reviewed when necessary. Staff were caring, cheerful and obliging, with prompt attention when called for. The rooms were modern with up-to-date facilities, which importantly, created a comfortable and relaxing environment. Fresh sheets and towels and cleaning was done every day. A thank you to the chef for the marvelous array of food on menu. The variety and presentation would excel some restaurants. A thank you also to my anaesthetist Dr Tucker, who took the time to visit me, and explain some of the procedures during the operation. Overall, I would highly recommend any stay in this hospital.

I had day surgery atBrisbane Private Hospital yesterday. I couldn’t be more thrilled at every aspect from checking in to being assisted to the pick up area. The staff were exceptional in terms of their knowledge, empathy and kindness and the general atmosphere was professional yet fun and friendly. The staff seemed to all get along really well and it appeared management have cultivated a fabulous culture. The only negative was the very average corned beef and pickle sandwich I received but by then I was so hungry it didn’t really matter.
