Bardon Family Doctors

My family and I have been seeing Dr Don for more than five years. He is kind, patient, and always helpful. Over the years our family have had a variety of health issues and I’ve always found him to be a competent doctor. I’ve very occasionally had to wait up to 40 minutes for my appointment, but I’ve just considered this is because once you see him, he will give his patients the time needed, and this may make him run late.

Always caring, professional and make time for clients. Thank you for looking after our family.

Awful bedside manner, poor communication, poor professionalism and generally a negative experience. I left the practice in tears and ended up going to another GP to get my injury and RTW plan managed appropriately and within a timely manner because neither of those things happened during my experience at Bardon Family Dr Surgery. My one star goes to the lovely reception staff (I believe Sam was her name) who was the only pleasant part of my experience?

Friendly GP's, busy clinic but they always take the time to make sure you get a standard of care, bulk billing.

Dr Tennakoon was pretty terrible. Very uncaring, didn't listen, zero effort whatsoever.

It was also supposed to be bulk billed (and I have healthcare card), but cost me $80 for a 3 minute appointment where I had to tell HIM what prescriptions to give me for an infection.

He didn't check anything or send me for tests until I prompted him to (and then still didn't examine me).

I asked him about the recurring infection and he said "get a second opinion". Ok.how about a first opinion to start with?

I've had a great experience with all doctors and staff at the practice, who always took extra time to explain treatment options and my health condition to me. Highly recommend

For two years now I have been seeing Dr Bandula very professional and attention to detail, never had one issue. You just can’t keep some people happy now days with the comments I read on here.

Dr Don constantly talked over me, grabbed my neck/shoulder without warning and squeezed when I said it was the problem, which hurt a lot.treated me like I was stupid.
Though the receptionist ladies were very lovely.

I've had General appointments with Dr Don Dematagoda and a minor surgery. Cannot recommend him highly enough. He's professional and knows his stuff. Id absolutely recommend him, I asked questions regarding certain things and he had no problem giving me his time and expertise and straight up honesty.

The reception staff is lovely but this is all I can say about the clinic. Had to wait for 2! Hours to be seen several times, although had booked appointments - it was huge waste of time, the doctor always runs late. Also have concerns with his scripts, e.g. He prescribed melatonin which can't be dispensed at normal pharmacy because it was too strong (and it was my first time being prescribed this medication!).
Several times tried to book telephone consultation but doctor did not even ring me twice, and on one occasion rang me late afternoon when actual phone consult appointment was early morning. Dr Don also did not want to release to me the letter from my hospital appointmen, as he said that he can do what he wants with the letter as it is HIS private correspondence - what a joke to say about the letter from my specialist appointment! Stay clear - you will save your time and also money not filling inaccurate scripts.

Have had to follow up numerous times for a work cover medical certificate that I need in order to get paid, keep getting told Dr. Don has been made aware and has all the details and will email it but have now been waiting 10 days. Beyond stressful.

Typical bulk billing clinic just wanting to make money from your multiple visits.
Saw Dr Bandu today and he only gave me a months worth of my regular prescription when I normally get 9 months worth! Never had this advised to me with a new clinic before. Also he wouldn’t prescribe me my HIV prevention medication (PrEP) because of the strength of the medication (even though I’ve been on it for 2 years). Again, never had this issue before with any other GP. I didn’t even bother to fight this one. I have other health concerns, again, couldn’t be bothered to fight for.
Not worth your time here.
Sad to see how corrupt the GP services are in Australia now. Worth spending $40 out of pocket seeing a privately billed doctor these days.
Won’t be coming back here.

Took my son here as he came off his scooter. We went for a dr's appointment at 9.30am on Tuesday morning, then onto have an x-ray. We were told by the dr he would call us. It's now closure time and still nothing! I phoned the drs this afternoon and was told I'd be called from 2.10pm today with results. The surgery is now closed. Still waiting!

I have visited both Dr Don and Bandu.
The practise is friendly and professional. I have felt they take the upmost care and are very thorough with their treatments and recommendations.

I have been attending Bardon Family Doctors, in particular, Dr Don, for 6 years now. Dr Don is extremely friendly, personable, reliable and caring. I feel that I am able to speak with Dr Don about any type of health concern, and it will be met with understanding, thorough knowledge and compassion. I cannot recommend this practice enough to all people. The staff are all very attentive, and will always do their best to ensure that you receive timely and appropriate care.

I have had the pleasure of seeing both Dr Don and Dr Bandu on several occasions and I have found them to be nothing less than courteous, caring and professional. They both provide an exemplary service and I have no hesitation recommending them to my friends and family. Plus they bulk bill which is an added bonus.

I’ve been going to Dr Don for years now and would go anywhere else. Great location and always appointments. And one of the last bulk billed Dr in the area.

Dr Don has been our family dr for 6 years. He is a friendly, experienced well rounded clinician who keeps up with the times. Highly recommend
