My son (12 yo) is really excited to go to practice every week. He loves activities such learning to throw other children as well as being thrown himself in a safe and controlled environment. He also enjoys the games they organize to engage all the kids. They teach self defense against punching, knife and stick attacks without hurting the opponent. I believe it is good for his fitness and self discipline as well. Aikido is a great skill to learn regardless of age, gender and fitness level. The head master of this dojo, Mori sensei, is highly regarded overseas and in Japan where Aikido originally came from. My son is extremely privileged to learn Aikido from him as well as his wife. We highly recommend this Aikido dojo

Training at Aikido Yoshinkan Brisbane Dojo has been really rewarding. I have seen improvements mentally and physically not only during training but in my daily life. I came with my partner to do the crash course and it has been really fun training together and being able to practice techniques outside the dojo. Mori Sensei is an excellent teacher and is very understanding and helpful especially when you are a beginner. Everyone is really friendly and eager to help you out. Thank you Mori Sensei and Shuko for this great experience!

I have been coming to Aikido Yoshinkan Dojo for a few months and have already noticed the changes it makes in my day and state of mind. Mori Sensei encourages each student to push themselves physically and mentally. He presents each technique clearly and is very helpful in correcting posture etc. I have always struggled with coordination and being "in my body" so Aikido has been challenging for me but also extremely rewarding. The crew are all lovely and it is an incredible place to train!

Both my children go to this dojo once or twice a week depending on their other commitments. The atmosphere here is superb, a perfect mix of professionalism, fun, relaxed but also providing a great learning and training ethic. The instructors are all very very good. I cannot fault it and neither can my kids.

We have really enjoyed our time in the Aikido classes with Mori Sensei and Shuko Sensei. We have learnt far more than just the technical skills of Aikido and have met many very nice people. The classes are excellent and are not just about building the Aikido skills but are also about building the mental skills and learning to work with other people in developing self-confidence, improving self-awareness and the ability to work with and respect other people as well as having fun.

The Yoshinkan Aikido Dojo headed by Mori Sensei in Brisbane is nothing short of exemplary. In terms of opportunity to develop oneself physically, emotionally and spiritually it is hard to imagine a better environment. Mori Sensei is a rare example of a martial arts master, the likes of which I thought, until joining his Dojo, only existed in books. It is truly a privilege to learn directly from him. The Mori family is warm and welcoming and you will find that Mori Sensei's skilled and passionate students are a testament to his excellent tutelage. -Greg Smith

We spent a lot of time researching as we wanted our son to work on his self discipline, he needed help with his coordination, but most importantly we wanted him to have strong role models to teach him respect and consistency. In just one year, the team at Aikido Yoshinkan, Brisbane have helped him develop these skills beautifully. There is something special going on there and we all feel part of it. Looking forward to many more years together.

Aikido Yoshinkan is great school if you are interested in Aikido or just trying new martial art. Personally, it has a good balance between self defence, finiteness, discipline and fun.
Dojo is operating in West End for more than 20 years and has classes for kids and adults. Family friendly environment, daily schedule (except Sunday) and monthly gradings will challenge beginners and seasoned martial arts practitioners alike. Give Aikido Yoshinkan a try if you are on the lookup for something to do with your kids or by yourself.

My son goes to the kids class. He builds better body coordination and balance through this Aikido class. (He was accident-prone and we had many hospital emergency trips before he joined the Aikido class.) Mori Sensei and Shuko Sensei provide good balanced programs for children using their knowledges and experiences and they are fantastic mentors as parents as well. Kids class teaches not only physical and technical skills, also teaches skills to work as a team and develop kindness to help and to care each other.

My daughter, 6 years old back then, was scared of Aikido at first. 2 years on, thanks to Shuko sensei's firm and also caring support, she is much more confident and enjoys her Aikido classes now. Yoshinkan's children class is also great place for my daughter to connect with other kids through Aikido and lots of fun activities!

In recent times many of my good friends at Brisbane Yoshinkan Aikido have asked me why I decided to study Yoshinkan Aikido and return to the beginning as a beginner. I have studied martial arts for nearly 40 years, obtaining instructor ratings in two other styles of martial art. For the last 13 wonderful years I have had the privilege of studying with Aikido Yoshinkan Brisbane as a direct student of Mori Sensei. Yoshinkan Aikido is as much about developing the mind as well as the body through respectful and disciplined development in a safe and friendly environment. The lifelong benefits and outcomes of Yoshinkan Aikido’s spirited training in one of the best dojo’s in Australia are both a positive experience and meaningful pursuit in our daily lives. Murray B

A great place to train martial arts under a strict but gentle instructor. The students not only aim to achieve skills and techniques to defense themselves in various situations (being punched, kicked, grabbed one hand, both hands etc) but also learn to respect each other, to be humble and patient inside the class and in real life.

Our son has been attending classes for 3 years commencing and continuing in the children’s class as well as adolescents class and now adult classes, commencing in the Children’s class under the teaching of Shuko Mori and now with Mori Sensei in the Adolescent and Adult classes. The teachings within the Dojo and the environment that has been set up is one of encouraged learning for all, this is instilled through all of the students, children and adults. Watching our son train and be taught by all members of the Dojo and the continued encouragement and guidance by the senior students to all other students is second to none, this is testament to the teachings of both Mori Sensei and Shuko Mori. If you are looking for a traditional martial art with without doubt the best teachers and practitioners possible, then you will find this at Yoshinkan Aikido Brisbane Dojo – Very highly recommend.

Michiharu Mori Sensei, his wife Shuko as well as all the Aikidoka (students) at Aikido Yoshinkan Brisbane have been nothing short of excellent! I cannot recommend them enough.

My 14 y/o son has been training at Aikido Yoshinkan Brisbane for the past 8 years & of all the sports that he has tried, Aikido has been the only one he has continued to thoroughly enjoy over time.

The teaching style is traditionally Japanese in structure but has none of the harsher aspects that are often seen in some martial arts dojo. They are very friendly & supportive towards all Aikidoka, especially towards newcomers & children, who learn the basics in a fun & engaging way under the watchful eye & kind control of Shuko Mori.

As my son has gained experience & maturity, he has moved into the adult classes & is starting to learn the finer aspects of this amazing martial art from more senior Aikidoka including many black belts. These lessons have provided immediate, practical knowledge & skills to allow him to calmly deal with the challenges of being a teenage boy today.

Mori Sensei is the last Uchi Deshi (live in student) of Master Gozo Shioda in Japan, this provides a direct lineage back to the very roots of Aikido.

Aikido is very easy to grasp the basics from & uses an opponents efforts against themselves without the need for overwhelming size or aggression. Aikido when translated from Japanese means " Way of Harmony" which sums up the style precisely, it is simply - a way of life.

I have no hesitation in recommending Aikido Yoshinkan Brisbane to anyone even remotely interested in learning a martial art for either self defense or as a sport.

I have been training at Yoshinkan Brisbane Dojo for 17 years now and I wouldn’t have stayed the course if it weren’t for Mori Sensei and Shuko San. This is testament to the efforts and sacrifices that they have made to ensure a world class Aikido Institution with a positive, disciplined and inclusive culture right HERE! In BRISBANE! If you are looking for an "AUTHENTIC" martial arts experience then look no further. Once you have experienced a technique from Mori Sensei you'll be hooked!
