1770 Rusty Pelican

Loved the food. I had the Barramundi, my wife the Nay Scurvy burger. Great food. Very well cooked, tasty and filling.
However, the poor girl at the order counter copped a mouthful of abuse from the chef simply for asking if the Nay Scurvy was available. She was told to "F. ING check the fridge" for availability. The poor kid (she was pretty young) looked crestfallen. We both felt badly for her and were considering not proceeding based on the treatment she'd received. In hindsight, maybe we shouldn't have. But, we didn't want the counter staff to cop anything further by way of abuse.
Most businesses have signs that state rude and abusive behaviour towards staff will not be tolerated. It should apply to all, not just customers.

Best food at 1770 hands down. Ordered the chicken and captain burger and they were huge, packed full and the greens were fresh plus the chips were amazing. Had to wait a little while to order but well worth the wait and the food came out quick once ordered.

We had a nice table overlooking the water. They have various options for seating - chairs and benches, tables and bar benches.

The calamari was ON POINT! Best calamari. Cooked to perfection.

We also had the Red Emperor which was cooked excellently also. They know their stuff when it comes to cooking seafood. The chips were also good. And the battered pineapple? The final touch!

Sauces to add on at the end was a great addition and really made the experience feel like a personal one rather than just a number. Definitely keep doing that.

Food here is fantastic. Definitely fresh and good quality. Sizes are larger and great. We had a meal and it was so good we came back for another. Do yourself a favour and have a meal here. Brst fish and Chips in town, possibly in Queensland. Also great views.

Absolutely amazing fish & chips! The fish was sooo fresh, calamari was HUGE and the chips were the perfect old school chips you expect from your local fish & chip shop. Customer service here is on point, no rude staff only happy and welcoming. We love spending our afternoons down here when we’re on holidays in Seventeen Seventy, perfect amount of seating for a gorgeous sunset & dinner

We arrived just before the two o'clock break, and the service staff were already preparing for a break, but they still took our order' and were very friendly, asking about our needs in detail. The meals were delicious, the fried fish was very juicy and the salads were generous and fresh.thank you all.

Purchased one serve of Shiels nest salad - calamari and salad $19. Fries an extra $3.
Took back to the boat for a delicious generous dinner for 2.
Total cost $11 each.

This is the best fish and chips I have had in such a long time. We had the special of the day (sweet lip, chips and salad) absolutely beautiful, fast service and great view.

The best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked, quick service and an amazing place to enjoy your food. Absolutely recommend to anyone visiting this incredible part of Queensland.

All I can say is the male owner needs to step back and let his wife, family and other staff members run the business before his attitude, fowl mouth and bad customer service runs what could be a little gold mine into the ground.one good experience could potentially attract another customer… one bad experience could potentially lose you many… I know what scenario I would want as a small business owner … something for him to think about

WOW! We really hope we get a chance to call back in for another visit in the near future, at the end of a busy day of exploring, the lovely staff made a meal for us that was absolutely mouth-watering (the dish with the scallops), we sat near the waterfront just on sunset and we were honestly in bliss:)

Best red emperor we have had in a long long time. Went back today and had the coral trout and Salt and Pepper calamari with salad once again awesome.

It is next to 1770 jetty, it is the Utimate spot in Seventeen Seventy to watch sunset. Some days (nites) at 4.30- 7pm you can enjoy live music too!

Would have loved to eaten here but we lined up tonight for 50 mins only to be told they had run out of food! So sad as we looked forward to eating. I wished they could have alerted people as there was at least 10 people behind us. Communication is so important.

Second time here, actually drove all the way into 1770 because of our memory of how good the fish and chips were. You know when you do this it often ends in disappointment. This one didn’t! Amazing battered fish. Great views. The whole party was impressed.

Now this place is great! Ordered fresh Spanish mackerel…. It was absolutely delicious. My son who is super picky nearly ate all mine.
Calamari was huge and tender and chips were yummy. Amazing spot with great views.

The best burgers and take away fish and chips I have eaten in a long time. Service is amazing, food comes out quickly and the portions are extremely generous. The best value for money!
