The old Winnellie, being around since the dawn of time, last time there service abit slow, not a large crowd, but had to go looking for service, had Xmas dinner there, great serve great food, it's not a fancy pub but that's the attraction.
Also, there were drunk locals outside our room the whole night making heaps of noise sounding like they were trying to get into our room.also intimidating people at the front from walking into the reception.do not recommend.
My pick for best beer in Darwin. Big statement but I've done the research peeps. Counter meals go alright too
I JUST WANT TO WARN THE FUTURE GUESTS ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED TO MY DAUGHTERS BELONGINGS YESTERDAY AND SINCERELY HOPE NO ONE ELSES BELONGINGS GET STOLEN, SMASHED AND RIPPED UP (THEIR WORDS). APPARENTLY THE CLEANERS THAT WORK IN THIS HOTEL ARE ANIMALS AND SMASH AND RIP UP PROPERTY THAT IS LEFT IN ROOMS INSTEAD OF TAKING TO THE OFFICE IN CASE THE RIGHTFUL OWNERS CALL UP TO RETREAVE THEIR PROPERTY.
I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS STORY IS CORRECT, THE REAL STOREY IS SOMEONE WANTED TO BAG AND KEPT IT WITH THE BELONGINGS ONLY GIVING BACK THE SKIN MEDICATION.
This would have to be the dirtiest motel I have ever stayed in, bathroom was filthy on check in and the shower was covered in black mould, when I had a shower the mould was coming off as the water hit the walls. When looking out the window all we could see were drunk locals sleeping on the grass outside near where the drive through bottle shop is. Only positive thing I can say about the place is that I only stayed one night and got out of there as quick as possible. Staff downstairs at the pub were also quite rude. Only reason that I can think of for staying here is if the rest of Darwin is fully booked.
I don't know if anyone has seen the 'wake in fright' but I'm making a lot of the casting was down there, locations & and even the storyline was written at the bar. These comments of course are sarcastic but I can say one thing it's a favour.
The beer is cold, and the bar staff are most friendly.
We stayed here with the family as it was close to where we picked up our Campervan. It's no Taj Mahal, but the it was comfortable for the four of us for a night's stay. Very friendly staff and the beers are close by
I will not recommend this hotel if someone wants to sleep peacefully. Stayed there for a night. The room was average with one broken floor tile, light and fan switch. So much noise coming throughout whole night. As it is located in an industrial area, you will start hearing heavy machinery noise from 5am. It was indeed a poor decision.
STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND ESPECIALLY FOR WOMEN OR FAMILIES.
Was advised upon check in that there is multiple strip shows in the afternoon/ early evening and it would be quite loud. Not a welcoming start when on our family holiday with our 3 month old daughter.
Did not feel comfortable here.
Room was filthy, floor sticky and needs a mop and disinfectant. Don’t think the bed sheets had even been cleaned as found hair and food wrappers in the sheets and bed looked slept in when top sheet was pulled down and no blankets for the bed
Shower needs a deep clean as full of gunk around the edges.
Great for 1 night stop over used it to some sleep as we arrived 1am in morning at Airport then checked out 10am to leave for Litchfield Park
We checked in thinking we were paying for one nights accommodation but we got so much more than we bargained for. The reception doubled as the public bar and this was a good opportunity to meet a few locals. After struggling up the narrow staircase with our luggage we were glad to finally reach our room. The room overlooked a satellite dish and industrial estate. Keen to make a cuppa we were disappointed that the fridge wasn’t equipped with complimentary milk. The room was however clean and the beds comfortable with washed sheets and the air con was a welcome relief.
After spending a night out at the local market, we retired to the room for a much needed rest. Unfortunately our sleep was interrupted in the early hours of the morning by a fellow patron banging loudly on the door and shouting to be let in. After 20 minutes his request was heard by the caretaker who shouted back and opened the door. Some low level scuffling ensued and we drifted back to sleep.
We left before the allocated check out time, which I’m fairly confident is a regular occurrence there.
By no means 5 star, but if you’re after a local territory style experience, you won’t leave disappointed.
If you are afraid of germs or unclean rooms probably dont stay here. 5 minutes with a blue light showed just how clean the room really was. Disgusting
Where do I start.check in was in the crowded sports bar. Staff seemed inconvenienced. Booked for 3 people. 2 coffee cups, 2 towels. No glasses for the water. Water left in the jug from previous guest - how old? Who knows!
Perhaps advertising the fact that there is a stripshow in the afternoon would have made it a little less embarrassing with the inlaws. Our room smelt damp wet and musty. We booked because it was advertised as being 2km away from the airport, in fact it is, but a 10min drive around to get there. I think the price for what was on offer and environment is robbery.
Be careful when booking an early morning check in. They were supposed to leave the key in the safe for me as I arrived at 1am. But when I got there at 2am, there was no key, and it was late and I felt very unsafe. Luckily we were able to book into a hotel in the CBD, but it was a huge F*#k around and cost me a lot of extra dollars. I’ll never book with them again
If you're abit peckish on thurs/friday the bistro pumps out some decent steak sandwiches. The meal is further enhanced by the lunchtime entertainment.
Great place for a cheap schooie, just dont ask for the house red.
Wow wow wow,
This venue has it all. A beautiful selection of meals and drinks. Boy oh Boy was it cheap also. I highly recommend the house red.
While sitting down with a steak sandwich and a house red, the entertainment was just spot on with all the latest music going off.
Recommended for any occasion with the family.
No staff were present to receive my keys for my booking. I also did not receive a refund even though I did not stay the night. Poor quality and a bad area
