Absolutely amazing and immersive small group experience! They are the real deal. With a max of 16 ppl in a 4wd bus, you’re guaranteed lots of adventure & going off the beaten track. They really know what they’re doing. We did their 3 Day/ 2 Night "Dragonfly Dreaming" Kakadu tour.

We can’t speak highly enough of our tour guide Leigh. His wealth of local
knowledge across land/ country, culture and animals was so educational and he has a great sense of humour & such a positive happy energy. He has so much passion and loves sharing everything he knows with his guests.

Leigh was also very flexible and accommodating to our needs and the changing weather. Thank you so much Leigh for tweaking our itinerary to make everyone comfortable when it hit 39 degrees and we needed some extra swim time! Thank you so much!

We booked a tour in August to Jim jim falls and twin falls. We find out on the day that Twin falls has been closed for over 2 months prior to the tour. The terms and conditions said an alternative would be offered but it wasn't. The company will outright lie when they have all the information to make sure you pay full price and never agreed to a refund for half a tour.

I have just finished a 6 day Larapinta tour and the crew were amazing. Clover was incredible and had so much knowledge about the area and the hikes. Unfortunately I became unwell during the tour and did one day feeling pretty awful before having to go to the hospital, the team made it feel like nothing was too much trouble and while I had no reception, my mum was already advised of what was happening before I got to the hospital and lovely Suzy drove me over 100km back to Alice springs. I could not rate this company high enough

The phones aren't working. Has this company gone into liquidation?

Update 23/2/22: Gone into voluntary adminstration.

Would be nice if Wayoutback answered the phone and returned emails. Would not recommend as communication is very bad

Haha! This made me laugh this morning.and really says it all about just how bad this company is! They have ONLY NOW JUST responded to my complaint and review from OVER 11 MONTHS AGO! I've cut and pasted it below for all to see and read to re-warn others not to book with them. Be warned. As previously said in my original review 11MONTHS AGO they are rogues!

Response from the owner 16 hours ago
Hi Daniel,
Apologies for the delay in responding to your concerns. I've tried to provide feedback on each of your points below.

(Here are given lots of excuses why the tour was so bad.yet i've cut the blurb as i ran out of space to post my original review again!)

Original Review yet now reduced as not enough space to post!

In January 2020 we booked Wayoutback's higher quality 3day Outback Tour aimed at the 40plus market. We were really upset with not just the tour yet also the poor response of the management to provide any type of reimbursement after a written complaint. I really would urge you to think seriously about booking with this company. They just want your money and will employ staff who have no care for the trip.
Here are my main concerns why:
Tour guide: Unenthusiastic attitude, he rushed parts of the tour and made no proper greeting or introductions to bond the group at first meeting him. His initial comments were that he 'was tired as he had been up since 4am'. He mostly drove with his music on not engaging with us ‘passengers’ in the back as he once described us! He was basically 'coaching' us around with no tour guide skills.
Worker based at camp: Dreadfully rude in attitude. No introduction whom she was. The advertised ‘Dining experience’ on the first night was a joke. I hadn’t even got off the bus when all i heard was her saying ‘Ok, dinner is ready, hurry up otherwise it will get cold! ' She wanted us to rush so she could finish her shift. She conveyed an underlying anger and resent for her guests as if we were a nuisance for her and in her way. She moaned to the other colleagues that she had 10days working without a break which we could all hear whilst having our 'dining experience'. The food was cheap and poor quality, all bought from a discount store. Whilst eating, the workers sat separately as we tried to bond as a group. We felt like herded animals.
On the first 'lunch' in 40 degrees, we had to ask for something cold to drink and when we found some ice in the freezer, were told it was ‘strictly’ not to be used! We were then given one bottle of the cheapest squash to drink along with a warm glass of apple juice. The 'Nibbles and Cava' experience over a sunset Uluru was basic compared to what we saw other groups having.
Tents were dirty and there was no explanation of H&S issues at all - ie, what we should do in an emergency, snake bite, etc. On asking the 'Guide' where he would be contacted in such an emergency, he responded ‘in a snag somewhere away in the far distance! ’ His attitude to snakes was that he is ’not afraid of them. ' He shook off my genuine concerns as stupid and as if i was not masculine enough to tackle a snake like him.
The showers and toilets on the second camp were broken, one shower head was defect. The privacy curtain was pulled off the outside toilet, the other toilet had no light working.
They mix the 'Backpacker Tour' with the 'High end' tours due to low numbers yet there is absolute no difference in service or standards or explanation and no refund given to those who pay for the higher end tour.

My friend and I booked the 4 day/3 night Perentie tour with Wayoutback Australian Safaris and we had such an amazing time exploring the best bits of the Red Centre! Due to COVID our original tour had to be changed up a little bit but it was still a jam packed itinerary with all the right adventures to experience!

Our guide David F, is a bundle of positive energy and made the tour very memorable, he has a wealth of knowledge of the landscape and Indigenous culture and it was such a pleasure following his lead through Uluru, Kata Tjuta, Kings Canyon and cultural experiences.

The meals provided were prepped and cooked fresh and tasted restaurant quality. Sleeping arrangements were simple yet very cosy, with the option to sleep in a permanent tent or swag under the stars.

I highly recommend this tour as a guided option to experience some really incredible highlights in comfort and amongst a group of like minded travellers!

I booked for a tour and they removed the tour product I chose. Have been on a email thread since March 2020 where they eventually stated they would refund me. They keep stating they don’t know when they can refund but that’s been over 14 months ago. I’ve continuously chased and they are just ignoring. I’d encourage people to go to fair trading and ombudsman like I will

We did the 5 day Litchfield, Katherine, Kakadu Tour. The Tour guides were amazing. Really knowlegable, accomodating and the scenery and variety of sites were amazing. The food on this tour was pretty mediocre. The dinners were fine, the lunches, extreemly limited. I am not sure calling a ham sandwich a 'picnic lunch' very accurate. Accomodation was very rustic. I dont mind camping but, out tents were made from green mesh and were pretty see through. Its such a shame because, I really feel like a small improvment in food and accomodation would make this tour pretty perfect. Judging from the reviews here and complaints about food etc, I dont see it changing anytime soon. The 4 stars is for The Tour guides and sites. Accomodation and food 2.5 stars

Exceptional tour guides, they have respect the timelines, explained every step of the touring day in great detail and always treated our group like friends.
Reliability and prompt communication with the office as well, they have also catered for my dietary requirements without any issue.
It's a tour in the Australian outback, don't expect a glamping, conditions are Spartan and you need to be versatile because obviously in the camping grounds there aren't hotel facilities.
Being mindful of that, if you wanna experience the real outback with experienced guides at competitive prices, choose wayoutback.
