Watarrka National Park reviews
14One of the nicest national parks in Australia. Would recommend hiking Kings Canyon to the Garden of Eden. A surprising large amount of beautiful wildlife.
Kings Canyon was magnificent, you simply cannot miss visiting it! The helicopter ride was fantastic to get a birds eye view from the top, but you also have to get up close and personal with it too. As I was recovering from surgery, we chose to do the more "gentle" South Wall Rim Walk instead of the popular full rim walk with those first 500 steep steps. Turns out the South Wall Rim Walk was quite challenging too, but oh those 5.6kms we walked/climbed was completely worth it. The scenery along the way was breathtaking and the sheer cliff face of the canyon viewed from the top was a spectacular reward. Can't wait to go back and do the full rim walk next time!
Spectacular walk & different lookout point view with a nice water hole to stop & have a break.
Stunning views once you're up. Steps aren't too difficult even for retirees. Lots of places to rest.
We visited here in July 2023, to do the famous Kings Canyon Rim Walk. The scenery and the views of this magical landscape and the canyon is absolutely stunning. The five hundred steps to the top are totally worth the effort, considering what you will encounter on route. The stated circuit time is stated as taking around 3-4 hours. We are seniors and we did it at an easy pace in 3 hours and 15 minutes, stopping to enjoy some of the breathtaking scenery. Thoroughly recommended.
Great National Park 3 walks Awesome Rangers especially Doug. Give him 10 out of 10 stars for service. Beautiful National Park.
Our first National Park in Australia, and what a beauty! Plan for fly nets and come very early to enjoy the morning light and avoid heavy heat on the exposed return trail.
Great rehearsal for seeing the actual Rock. There were 4 other cars parked up and we were all convinced this was Uluru. In fact it is Mt Conner
Great national park home of the rim walk, a really famous walk around king's canyon.
There are also longer, more difficult walks available as well.
In the morning you can spot wallabies hoping around the rocks.
Only attempt the walks when it's not too hot or bring some water.
Very highly recommended. Breathtaking view from the top. Rare plant species, rock formations, some fossils from millions of years ago is just amazing.
Rim walk is amazing. If you get there really early and start it a few minutes before sunrise you can actually see the sunrise from above and it looks magical. It’s pretty well marked, so definitely do not miss it.
The view of the whole park is fantastic, the most interesting part is that we saw wild horses and wild camels on our way to Kings Canyon!
The walk here was the highlight of our trip. We drove from Uluru to Alice Springs and stayed at Kings Canyon for 3 nights so we could explore the area in a relaxing manner. Once you climb the first hill to the top of the Rim. Once up there the views are extraordinary. A few sections you would think you are in Mars it is so different. Once on the edge of the rim the cliff face is about 100 meters high so be very careful as it can be extremely dangerous. We did the walk once then in reverse the next day with a few other walks throwin in. Try and do it early before the heat gets to intense. The flies were limited on the days we were there as there was quite a strong breeze. #walking #hiking #Australia
