Ubirr (Rock Art) reviews
22Beautiful place that we've visited on 2 previous occasions starting in the late 1980's. The paintings are disappearing, and in a few years, they will be lost.
We visited Ubirr in the late afternoon to watch the sunset on top of the rock! It had an amazing view and was definitely worth it. The walk to the rock is extremely short (about 500m). The rock art was beautiful, it boasted ‘artworks’ such as the famed rainbow serpent!
I have been there twice, in 2013 and 2023. More easier walk to the lookout, as better road paved closer to the site now then 10 years ago.
Totally worth the short walk to see the rock art and definitely recommend going up to the look out to see the different landscapes of Kakadu.
Incredible range of indigenous rock art paintings in a fairly small area. Most of the art is easily accessible, some require demanding climbing which is rewarded by a beautiful view. In my opinion this is something worthwhile to visit.
Amazing Site loved the walk around didn't do the walk up the steep stairs to the upper gallery but told it was worth it
Awesome easy walk.like about 45 min walk in total including lookout. Amazing rock art.you can also find rock art in places off beaten track etc - it’s everywhere!
Great place. You can understand the culture of Aborginal people. All the art works are done by the animal bloods.
So amazing to see these ancient drawings from our custodians of this beautiful country. The walk is flat mostly a few rocks to climb but not strenuous. Lovely walk in the cool of the morning
Lovely to see the rock art. The climb to the top of the lookout is a little difficult as you climb rocks, but sooo worth it. There was no way mum could climb the rocks but seats are provided at base of climb and she waited there. We both really enjoyed the art.
Awesome Adventure with knowledgeable local Aboriginal Park Ranger — Iwaidja man Oscar. He shared insights into his unique culture and country
Worth every step! And yes the light just before the gate closes is brilliant all the photos just don’t do it justice you need to see it for real
Amazing must do: quite a simple but lovely walk. Take an hour or maybe 2 if you can. The climb up to the plateau is far out. Nice rock bouldering here and there, but nothing too difficult. Bring water. Great parking close by.
Disappointed, the rock art is not that great and most of it recent. Our guide not so good and rocked up 20 min late bloody annoying.
Words can’t explain what you see here.
A must visit when in Kakadu.
Easy and safe walk for most people, 1 km loop, however the climb up to the lookout can be harder for some.
Not steep but lots of rock steps to navigate
Walk on your own and read all the information on the signs or walk with a group and a guide explaining all.
Plenty of parking for all vehicle types.
Best view in Kakadu! The art work is magnificent.
Only disappointment was, I didn't see any Aboriginal workers.why?
Nice little walk with stunning views.
The art is interesting the stories to go with the art are even more interesting.
Well worth the visit just for the views.
The track is well maintained and most of the tricky bits have natural grab rails.
Amazing experience! Beautiful rock art everywhere, even unsigned you can find paintings. We experienced a sunset up on the rock formation and it was lovely. The walk isn’t very difficult but there are rocks to climb up and down so keep that in mind. You definitely don’t want to miss this stop on your Kakadu trip!
Interesting rock art. Even on a weekday this place is super busy. It was difficult to get a park.
The sunset view from the summit was beautiful. However, if you are going to stay for sunset, be mindful you'll need to drive back to your accommodation during dusk, which is when wildlife (eg kangaroo) are moving about. So be careful.
