This is a general review and not branch related.

We did a 40 days roadtrip in a Kuga campervan from Darwin to Perth and near 9000 kilometers.

Pick-up in Darwin went smooth and fast and staff was friendly. Our campervan was pretty old and beat up with over 300K's on it.
Campervan exterior was cleaned and polished thoroughly before our arrival which was great. The campervan did deviate from the pictures on the website as only the sliding door had a glass window. Due to limited lighting it made the interior dark and a bit claustrophobic compared to our other rental experience which had windows all around it. It was a bit of a surprise so to say but eventually we got used to it.

Opted for some extra's as camping chairs, camping table and solar shower. The chairs and table were old and used quite extensively. Solar shower had a puncture in it and we got it refunded via Customer Support.
In the end for the price you can get cheaper and brand new chairs and tables at Big W or K mart.

I had to repair the fly screen as there were holes in it. And they forgot to attach the tap adapter so we could not refill our water tank at our first camping stop. Bought our own on the first supermarket stop. We received some comments about dumping our waste water as the campervan does not have a grey water tank.
These are just minor issues we encountered the first few days.

What we cannot overlook was the interior. It was nasty and it seems like it was not cleaned properly. We had to spend 2 hours to clean the interior as every wet wipe came out full with dirt and grime. I have mentioned it to Customer Support but have not received a reply on it. I am confident we returned the campervan cleaner than we had received it. I understand TA target group are backpackers/budget travellers however lacking in this department is no excuse.

On our second rental day having driven just 200 kilometers the check engine light came on and during almost our entire trip it stayed on. We contacted Customer Support and got told to continue our journey and keep a close eye on it. We expressed our discomfort as we had to go quite the distance to reach the NT/WA border which had limited phone reception and almost no other drivers on the road for many hours. Eventually we continued as during the first week there was heavy rainfall (wet season) and water poured into our campervan. After checking the seals at the door it was for a big part loose and dried up on multiple locations. We decided to get to WA as fast as possible as the campervan could not manage rains due to it.
Luckily we had no mechanical issues our entire roadtrip despite the check engine light on. However on drop off we did encounter another (not so happy) couple that had been towed due to mechanical problems. These things happen and I am glad it did not happen to us in the outback.

It was an interesting experience and in the end I am relieved everything worked out. Service and pricing at TA is good I just wished their campervans were a bit newer.
I see TA recently opened a branche in Japan and we will be travelling Japan soon. However having experienced this I personally would spend more and not have these headaches to deal with.

Sincerely hope this feedback reaches the right person and especially the cleanliness (!) improves for other renters.

Had an amazing trip with the camper van, no problems along the way, car drove very smoothly. Excellent customer service from Julius! He helped us through the whole process of check in, gave us a lot of local tips on where to go, maps, and handing in the van again was unproblematic. Thank you! Would highly recommend.

First let me state that I fully acknowledge that Traveller's Autobarn rentals are very cheap. I am factoring this into the review already.

We rented a pair of station wagons in Darwin for a 10 day tour through the NT.

The cars:
The cars ran well, no complaints here. I expected them to be a bit run-down, which they were. What I find less than stellar though is exposed wiring due to bad aftermarket replacement parts. The wires for the ceiling lights were just exposed and the window-risers in one of the cars was completely out of place with only wiring holding it to the door. Neither of these would be costly repairs, they just take a minimum amount of effort.
Also they saw fit to install a 100km/h alarm in the car when the speed limit is 130km/h in the NT.

The gear:
This lack of effort unfortunately continued with the camping supplies offered in the cars. Out of the 4 tents we were given 2 were missing the tent poles and could not be erected. Had we not brought some of our own tents this would have been a miserable first night. We then were instructed to buy 2 tents which have been refunded later.
The cooking equipment of both cars together constituted one working set of gear. One can opener broken, one car without a chopping board, one without a big pot, one without a big pan, etc. This would be rather easy to ensure on their part but seemingly nobody bothers.

Staff:
Check in is a bother. Make sure you scan everything beforehand, because instead of just checking you in they will still make you enter everything on the website. I am sure that this is some ploy to remove responsibility from the people at the lot but think it greatly diminishes the ease of operation. Otherwise staff were curt but functional. The discussion regarding the tent situation was also surprisingly difficult to conduct.

They have a slogan in the office:
"Attitude is the difference between Ordeal and Adventure". Ironic when renting at Traveller's Autobarn is a good way to ensure an Ordeal.

We rented a small van to travel from Darwin to Kakadu national park for 4 days. No. 1 travellers autobarn were the only company who would rent for such a short period of time and no. 2 the staff were fantastic, Rangipare could not do enough to help us, recommending places to go and ideas on how to make our trip the most enjoyable. The van was tidy and had everything we needed - although recommend either renting or buying a fan if you’re staying in a non-ac van in 35c heat… overall a great experience.

My experience with TAB has been nothing short of EPIC! The van is super comfortable and has absolutely everything you need. Ample storage and is set up really well for #vanlife adventures. The customer service when picking up the van and the recommendations they gave as to where we should go were spot on. The van is also super economical and pretty cheap on fuel which I wasn’t expecting, and which is an added bonus with inflated prices at the moment. Overall I couldn’t have asked for a better experience so far. 11/10!

Rangy at Travellers Autobarn Darwin was amazing! We had such a fantastic experience with her. There was a small error with the car after we picked it up and upon return she was awesome with helping us solve the problem! We ended up having to swap the car and she made sure that we had everything we needed and more! Thank you!

Can highly recommend the service we received from the Darwin office Kiara and her team went out their way to help us and help make our stay in the NT a great experience. Will definitely be using them again when we return to the NT.

I highly recommend TAB, the customer service is amazing. The camper was great, clean and exactly what we needed. We had to get a new alternator and TAB replied to all emails within 5 minutes and took care of everything for us. We had the best holiday and I can't recommend TAB enough

Already not happy. Took a booking and deposit then 3 days later get told I can't have the vehicle in the morning as requested. So now have to lose a day of travel and other bookings etc made on the fact that I booked for a morning pick up. Also if I now can't get vehicle till close of business and returning at same time in 3 days won't take the day off the price how is that fair. I have to pay for 4 days but will now only have vehicle for 3.

We hired the Station Wagon this week and camped two nights at Katherine Gorge (Nitmiluk). I highly recommend Travellers Autobarn the customer service experience was excellent and very opened to feedback. I have been visiting Darwin in the dry season for a few years now and this was the first time I was able to rent a car with unlimited kilometres. I will definitely be hiring with them next time I'm in Darwin. Thanks Autobarn Traveller Darwin.

Hired a van from Traveller's Autobarn for 3 months and took it from Melbourne to Darwin and then back down the east coast. The whole experience was incredible and made even better by the customer service offered by the Traveller's Autobarn team. Had some mechanical problems up in Darwin and Roo went above and beyond to help out! Making accident/insurance claims is super simple and efficient. Would highly recommend hiring a van from this company.

Brilliant experience renting a campervan. Roo was really helpful on check out, provided us with a campervan that was in perfect running order, fully serviced and clean. The vehicle allowed us to travel down to Uluru on a brilliant road trip without any hiccups. Excellent customer service on return, would really recommend!

We rented a van for a 14 day trip to Uluru. After comparing a number of other companies and vans we chose TA because they were well priced and their insurance included a number of items which other companies made you pay extra for (windscreen cracks, new tyres etc). Their van handled really well and the L's / 100 km's was accurate to what they stated on their website allowing us to plan our fuel stops accordingly.

The van itself was very spacious with plenty of storage which allowed us to carry two mountain bikes and four jerry cans in the back. The fridge was exceptional and kept all our food cold for the duration of the trip and we would not need to use powered campsites for 3-4 days when driving around 500 km's day. We put a thick mattress topper on top of the bed to make it that little bit more comfortable and had many good nights sleep in it.

Overall, good customer service, very practical setup, and no problems with the van. I'm sure we will use TA again. Cheers

Great service from local team. After a couple of days try-out in georgeous Litchfield National Park, we bought one of the ex- rental vans. Rupert was truly helpful. Not only he and his team made sure the van was in good condition, he also took plenty of time for all our questions. He took the extra steps for us! Many thanks. At the moment we’re in the middle of our road trip and the van is amazing!

Road trip with a friend from Melbourne to Darwin, Travellers Autobarn we’re very good with their information and didn’t disappoint in terms of staff and when the tent wasn’t of standard they offered to refund a purchase of a tent at the end of the trip.

When returning the vehicle Scott from the Darwin branch was very helpful and apologetic about the tent situation. I would recommend the company for your road trip needs in general

Great camper rental! Simple but effective enough, well worth your money. Very friendly and quick service. We had a great trip around the national parks in the top end, only downside was that the cd player wasn't working.
