The Watertank Cafe reviews
68 The ambiance of the place was appealing and enjoyable. The staff were friendly. However, I found the food somewhat underwhelming given the price point.
We ordered the "unleaded tank”. It was a plate of tofu scramble, toast, smashed avocado, baked beans, potato rosti, button mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, haloumi, and beetroot relish. Among these, the haloumi, avocado, toast, rosti, and relish were good. However, the tofu scramble was a letdown, the portion was small, it tasted a bit stale with a noticeable lack of flavour. The baked beans had an odd metallic aftertaste that was off-putting, I couldn’t finish it. Additionally, the mushrooms and tomatoes had an excessive vinegar tang - making it almost inedible
My vegan friend paid the same price but did not get any substitute for the haloumi. I hate wasting food but unfortunately couldn’t eat all of it: (.
I am hopeful this was an isolated incident and hopefully others have better experiences.
Reminds me of a couple coffee Joints in the USA. Fantastic Mocha Chino Baby! This Yankee gives 5 big fat Stars
I ordered the big breakfast, which they call the full tank (good name).
There was a decent crowd sitting and enjoying their meals and coffee. Giving the Cafe a very pleasant atmosphere.
When the meal arrived, I was disappointed in the size of the meal as it was smaller than the last few times I had been there. Only a single slice of toast with a little butter.
There were 2 pieces of bacon, one of which was dry and chewy. The other was crunchy but still dry. Next to no bacon fat for flavour.
The eggs were very tasty and very fresh (which is the main reason I like coming to the tank). Though there was a bit of uncooked egg over the yolks. I personally prefer when the chef cooks this albumen (either steam the eggs in the pan with a bit of water or spoon some of the oil over the top of the egg).
The beans were good, as were the mushrooms and the potato rosti.
However, I was completely missing the vine ripened tomatos, but only realised halfway through the meal.
The other meals that came out looked quite good. I will be coming back and trying again. As I reckon this was just a one off experience.
Has recently reopened.
A really nice place, great atmosphere and food. Highly recommend.
On our visit we ordered large coffees but were accidentally given regular sizes. We thought we’d made a mistake but one of the friendly staff checked it out and after we’d ordered another, refunded our second coffees cost. So honest! And the atmosphere and coffee were fantastic!
Thankyou so much
Found a hidden gem in Alice Springs. A very hip bohemian Cafe, good coffee, tasty food and even a live band this morning for breakfast.
The atmosphere is great. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, quirky setting. Coffee is excellent but a bit let down by the food. The food isn't bad but it's a bit overpriced for the quality and portions. Despite this, definitely a great cafe that you have to check out.
I love how the vibe is so calm and relaxing. Great place to chill away from the busyness and chaos. Love the food and coffee also.
Great food, but women at counter rather abrupt - not conducive to eating and food and happy atmosphere. The tiny Rhubarb Crumble seemed expensive but maybe Alice prices
I just wanted wanted to reach out and say a great thanks to Fran She was so accommodating in store and served such amazing coffee with the upmost positive attitude, which just in lightened my entire day.
Why has this fabulous cafe not got 5 stars? Service and food outstanding. Great menu and simply the best Tumeric Latte in Alice.
Absolutely lovely brunch spot, music, decor, and lovely staff. Beautiful aesthetically! We had things off the breakfast and lunch menu, both were incredible. Would highly rate the savory crepes.
The only downside is that I’m only traveling through Alice and won’t be able to eat here again.
Absolutely fantastic. The staff, the food, everything, just awesome. Thanks Nicole, Fran and the rest of the team. You guys do a stellar job. See you next season
Love this cafe. Great coffee and tasty food. Have been twice now!
Lovely and spacious seating, inside and outside. Plants and cool fixtures everywhere!
Highly recommend the nourish bowl!
Options for vegetarians and vegans!
Playing area for the kids
Bathrooms with a little sharing and caring (ladies will understand)
Thanks Nic for such a lovely place to have brunch! Always exciting to see what you have done with the place every time we come in!
Beautiful vibes, great service, felt warmth and looked after in every correr of the place. Fun and chilled. Good coffee, very good meals and lots of quantity. Thank you
I come here when I'm in Alice Springs to see my son. This time it changed they had know books to read there was none. All good tho the food was delicious.
Two half strength cuppachinos and a savoury muffin after our morning walk. A perfect recipe for us.
I arrived around 130 at the end of Lunch. Lovely atmosphere and staff seemed friendly. There were a few people there but it was not too busy. I ordered a Ceaser salad gluten free and checked when ordering that they could do it. Food took around 40 mins to arrive and had to get it takeaway as I had to go back to work. I never got to eat it as after a bite it became apparent that there were croutons throughout and I had to throw it out. Very disappointing.
Beautiful space, nourishing food that has you licking the plate, lovely people. A great brunch spot for a slow morning!
