Ruby Vietnamese Restaurant reviews
42We gave Ruby a second chance, but it was a mistake. I order the special fry rice that was tasteless. We couldn't eat the satay, as the chicken was raw. One of the worst restaurants that I have been in Darwin.
Would have to say this is one of the best Asian restaurants I have eaten at with reasonable prices and extensive menu. Friendly staff and very clean. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Darwin CBD.
Really enjoyed the Peking duck pancakes and coconut chicken curry. We were inside to start but it became extremely noisy with a few large groups inside and hard surfaces so we asked to move outside which was much more pleasant.
I've only had 1 dish from here but it was so good I went back and had it again. The spicy braised beef noodle or Bun Bo Kho. Possibly the best noodle dish I've ever had. This place can be busy on weekends. One of the good places for late eats as well.
We tried the pho and were pretty disappointed. I paid to have extra meat but my dish looks like the one my wife ordered without the extra. No very tasty as well for the price. We had some honey pork which were very good. I would just advice for pho to go some where else cheapper and better.
Dishes bland and not worth it. Not Vietnamese in many senses of the word. It is a fusion restaurant that doesn't serve anything too spicy or tangy for fear of upsetting the masses.
The fish we ordered had no taste. Luckily the sauce had taste but that is a bit sad.
Plenty of other places to spend less money at as a family.
I ordered Peking duck, best ever. Also had lemon grass chicken, brilliant. Had delicious sweets as well. Highly recommended for a group. Order something different so you can share as a group, they don't mind. Friendly staff and comfortable restaurant without being to over the top.
It was recommended to us as average cheap eats. Unfortunately it wasnt cheap nor average. Most of the dishes we ordered were very salty. We were pretty unimpressed especially the spring roll which was basically flat fry. The staff on the other hand were very accommodating and friendly. I personally wouldnt go back. If you must I would recommend trying their whole fish dishes which were sold out on the day and guessing it must be good.
I was in Darwin on a work trip when my colleagues decided to bring me here. It was my first time having Vietnamese cuisine and I did not know what to expect. The waiters were very friendly and helpful to explain the ingredients used in certain dishes. They also recommended some dishes to use which were very nice. It was such a pleasant experience.
Very nice food, in a great location. Price is very reasonable and servings of a good size. Recommend.
Food was alright. Expect to wait an hour for your takeaway and 45 minutes for your dine in on Sunday.
I'm quite surprised that this restaurant is not rated higher than it is. Friendly and efficient serving staff, big portion for the price and comfortable ambiance. All things considered, it's the best restaurant I've been to during my trip to Darwin.
Delicious good and friendly service.
I had a yummy meal which was packed with fresh prawns, scallops and squid with delicious veges and a very tasty sauce. But there were so many other great things on the menu too. Can't wait to come back and try some more.
An amazing culinary experience and compliment to the dinning culture of Darwin. Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. The food remains authentic to its culture and was a joy to eat
Ruby has some seriously fresh Vietnamese flavours swimming in its dishes. Centrally located, Ruby's dishes are wallet challenging, but this place is romantic and charming. The Tamarind Barramundi soup is a must try and is enough for one - no sharing! Yum. The outside area is relaxing and cool but magical during Dry Season. The staff is very friendly and informative. This is a must try restaurant.
The best Peking Duck I have ever had. The other curry dishes were also excellent. Make sure you try the Peking Duck entree, dont let that entree word fool you, it was a very generous size and it was perfectly cooked. Succulent, tender and super tasty.
The staff were also very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back soon!
Also on Mondays they do Vietnamese pancakes wgich are apparently very good, yet to try it though.
Went to Ruby mid-week following a walk around the city looking for something moderately priced. The restaurant was bordering on empty but decided even without the popularity that night to give it a go. The menu is quite concise and we opted for soups to start (hot and fresh and full of flavour) and a beef And chicken for main. Amazing. We had plenty of food between the two of us and we forced ourselves to finish it all! Service was nothing special, but staff still attentive enough. This is our favourite restaurant and since finding it have been back a few times taking friends and family with us. Price wise it is the upper level however the food is always fresh, delicious and served quickly. Menu has a good choice.a few selections very different to what is usually available in Darwin. Servings are small but more than enough. We alway come away very happy and satisfied.
Good authentic Vietnamese food. You can tell by the flavour and smell of the Pho beef noodles soup bowl which is quite hard to get right. Good portion size and extremely pleasant service. Highly recommended as we have been disappointed with Vietnamese cuisine travelling through the NT. Good deco and prices slightly cheaper than some of the others.
We had Yum Cha on a Saturday. The food is delicious and authentic- exact like a local Yum Cha experience back in China. The price is good and service is also good. The only tho g is I hope they can ask if the customer need the Chinese tea - after all is it what Yum Cha means- and top up the tea pot more regularly. Anyway, very good experience for Yam Cha.
Excellent food; excellent service. Had honey pork entree, red duck curry and beef massaman.can recommend them all
