Royal Flying Doctor Service Alice Springs Tourist Facility reviews
61What a great exhibit, theatre, VR headsets, plenty of history and a plane to hop into. Must see.
I'm driving around Australia and god forbid I ever need the RFDS. This was an interesting 18 minute film and then a walk around museum. Entry fee supports their work. Buying a souvenir in shop also supports or you can just donate.
A nice vistorcenter, with a award worthy film about RFDS, a small museum with interactive exhibition and 2 VR experiences.
Not a fan of the food or coffee at RFDS cafe, it's also over priced as well. But a good spot to visit and get an understanding of the history of the RFDS and to check out the local places of interest in the area such as the hospital lawns across the way where there is this massive statue of John Mcadoull Stuart and the reptile center across the road. And do not leave off your list to visit Akuyelerre the traditional Arrernte Healing Centre adjacent the RFDS- a must place to visit to get some traditional bush medicine also book in to see a traditional healer whilst you're there
RFDS provide an incredibly important service to rural Australia. Worth a visit if you're looking for something to do.
Great museum showcasing the history and the importance of such an incredible important service provided by the men and women of RFDS.
It 's worth going to the Royal Flying Doctors Services Muesum. You can watch a VR Video, see the actual plane that carries patiens in it
Great place in Alice to enjoy a coffee and cake or lunch with friends and or family. Beautiful old historical building with lovely garden area. Staff very friendly.
Great artifacts and information about how it all began via video at beginning. Staff are very friendly and place is very organized. Made me want to apply to work for the service if I lived in Australia. Virtual reality experience was a great feature and really allowed you to take in all they do in the sky.
A great way to spend time and for a very worthy organisation. Great little gift shop and all profit goes to the Flying Doctors. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Can not recommend this enough and such a great project.
Really interesting holographic film about the history of the Royal Flying Doctor Service and also try the virtual reality headsets to go on board a flight. There's 2 you can watch, one of patients being cared for on a flight and one of a pilot fling the plane and talking about his job. Really worth visiting.
The cafe is almost amazing too, but lost a star for never labelling their food prices properly and surprise charge you $16.5 for a sandwich after telling you it's $13.
The museum is absolutely delightful, highly recommended.
An informative and interactive experience for an amazing organisation that does so much for so many
Awesome history of the RFDS. Great presentations, and staff that you could tell have significant genuine interest in the cause. Well done.
Fascinating history of the RFDS. A mock plane to go inside and a really excellent holographic show introducing the service. Give them your money. They save lives.
Absolutely delightful, highly recommended. The cafe is almost amazing too, but lost a star for never labelling their food prices properly and surprise charge you $16.5 for a sandwich after telling you it's $13.
This is a definite ‘must do’ for anyone visiting Alice Springs who has even a passing interest in the RFDS and how front line first responder healthcare is brought to those across the country.
I love the food here, so yummy. Oddly though, the salads don't always match the mains but thats fun cause they're delicious. On that, when having a side salad with a main it is a bit steep at $6 for a very small portion. Enough about the salads, I also wanted to shout out to Dixie who really brought the energy. They were welcoming and lovely, very onto it! The other staff have all been gorgeous I just think Dixie needed a special mention.
Great tour. Holographic movie and 2 virtual reality experiences. Very informative and loved the experiences.
