Pine Creek Railway Resort reviews
15Stayed on Thursday night, great value. Friendly service, walking distance to the pine creek hotel for dinner great value. Will see you again.
If someone had told me I would be spending my 18th wedding Anniversary at Pine Creek. I would have laughed. HOWEVER! Hubby got himself into prospecting. So we booked ourselves into 3 nights in Pine Creek. So nervous what to expect. We arrived to a beautiful cabin, clean, cold and set out so nicely. As well as a beautiful gift for us from the staff. We have relaxed and had a beautiful sleep in the comfy bed. Everything has been well thought out and so accommodating. Thank you for a wonderful stay. And we will be back for sure!
The first thing I noticed was how clean it all was. The lady on reception was so friendly and welcoming. Our cabin was huge for just the 2 of us. Restaurant wasn’t open for dinner during the week but the lazy lizard across the road had us sorted for dinner and beers.
Highly recommended as a base for exploring Katherine and (southern) Kakadu. We only stayed one night and wished we had longer. Really nicely put together, really pleasant experience
My dad and I had booked for one night and decided to stay for a second night. Staff was very accommodating. Nice base to explore Kakadu NP. Rooms were very clean, the aircon worked well and we enjoyed the pool. We both had the green thai curry for dinner, which was delicious. Mine was even spicy like I had asked for. I would definitely stay there again.
What a little gem this was in Pine Creek
SANDY was very helpful & nothing was a problem
Great staff, great food & great rooms
Highly recommend
Amazing place with sparkling clean facilities, beautiful staff & relaxing pool area. We had an unplanned 3-day-stay at the Railway Resort due to the Darwin lockdown impacting our travel plans and couldn’t have asked for a better place to be ‘stranded’ on our road trip. Thanks for making us feel so welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this hidden country gem.
Stopped in for lunch on the way back from Mataranka. Excellent homemade pies, very friendly service & great looking accommodation & pool. Wished we had more time & would have stayed here overnight! Highly recommend:)
Absolutely beautiful establishment! Lovely design, very clean and plenty of beautiful authentic trinkets to keep you gasping!
Staff are very friendly and easy to chat to!
Chefs food 10/10.
Visited CAFE but rooms and hotel look great. Nice pool in cafe vicinity. Well worth a stop albeit a little close to Katherine and Edith Falls. Lazy lizard caravan park and bar/hotel next door looks really nice.
Gorgeous pressed tin ceilings & mini orb walls. Spotlessly clean. Friendly staff. Got given an upgrade to bigger room as it was quiet which was much appreciated. Highly recommend the apartment style room. Very comfortable. Very quiet and relaxing place to stay. Well maintained gardens with easy check out.
4 of us stayed 1 nite a week ago on our way through. Service was excellent they had aircon running for us when we arrived which was much appreciated as it was quite hot.
Room was lovely very clean and cheap. The pool was a nice area and there is a fantastic tavern called the lazy lizard withon 100 metres.
Great place for dinner and a drink. Great meals and pizza and they had $5 beers
I stayed at this Resort and I must say it is a treasure
The room was spotlessly clean
Has a small fridge microwave and tea/coffee making facilities
Accommodation is reasonably priced
and includes a good selection continental breakfast with fresh brewed coffee - No restaurant during wet season - can eat next door at The Lazy Lizard where the Chef Rodney makes wonderful food and the girls are amiable and make you feel welcome
The pool is beautiful and the garden is lush and restful
I highly recommend this place Tracy and her staff go out of their way to make your stay perfect
I won't stay anywhere else if I visit Pine Creek again
Thanks guys xx
Positives:
- Well appointed rooms with almost everything you need
- Complex is spotless clean overall
- Lovely swimming pool
- Continental breakfast included in the room price
- We got a free upgrade
- Cute concept (vintage train-shaped complex)
- Good location to stop between visits to Kakadu and Nitmiluk NPs
- Reasonable price
Negatives:
- No fan in the rooms, what the hell? The only hotel lacking this feature throughout our stay in the Top End! Putting the aircon while sleeping is usually a no-no (unless we wanted to be sick in the morning), but given the crazy hot temperatures we had to set it at 26 degrees and leave it on overnight. Really not ideal.
- The material the units is made with (some sort of metal) is the worst idea in this hot weather. When we stepped into our room for the first time, it felt like stepping into an oven.
- Breakfast is fairly bad. All basic, mass-produced, industrial stuff. We were in the full swing of NT mango season, and the only fruit available was disgusting sliced tinned peaches, ugh!
- The restaurant was not opened on either of the nights when we stayed which was disappointing so we had to dine at the pub nearby. A bit annoying in a tiny village with really not many options.
